If you're still in the Pacific Northwest, something I had just recently out about and maybe you can add to your list: In downtown Seattle and in Skagway, Alaska there is the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park. The Seattle one is called Klondike Gold Rush Seattle Unit and the other one is called Skagway Unit, go figure. I bring this up because I wonder if you're going to visit every national park, do national historic parks count? They have national park in their name with the added "historic." Does that change things? I only learned about these places recently because my brother lives in Seattle and had to take a trip up there for his marriage.

Great idea! I visited the historical park in Alaska (Skagway) when we stopped there during an Alaskan cruise a few years ago, right after the railroad excursion. It was fascinating. We have not been to the one in Seattle. I didn't know it existed and will be sure to visit the next time when I'm in the area. There are 423 national park units, and national historical parks are in that count. We've been to well over 100 national park units. I am now collecting stamps from the units but I was not doing that when we visited the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park in Skagway so I guess we'll have to go back, right? :-)

Heading to AK in July any info would help. 7 day trip how do you get back?? How do you do things when you stop at ports ??

We did this on a cruise ship, which was one way from Vancouver to Seward. We then did a land portion to a couple of national parks (Denali and Wrangle-St. Elias) before we flew back from Anchorage. For ports, there will be plenty of info on the cruise for you to decide. We did not opt for helicopters or air tours, because we were doing the glacier thing at Wrangle-St. Elias as part of the land portion of the tour. We did do the Yukon trip with a railroad portion and that was fun. Other than that, we just hung out at the ports, did the lumberjack thing at Ketchikan.
