@@gabrielesolletico6542 Italy used chemical weapons against Ethiopians, made concentration camps in Yugoslavia, and attacked Greek civilians during occupation. Need I say more?
@gabrielesolletico654211 күн бұрын
@@ImperatorLemon Ok for the chemical weapons against the Ethiopians, but, at that time (1936 - 1938) that was a common thing, the Convenction of Geneve weren't a thing yet. During WW1 chemical weapons have been massively used too. Concentration camp in Yugoslavia... well Yugoslavia didn't even exist during the fascism era, you mean in Istria? That was part of Italy... and they were not concentration camp: they were labour camp for political opposers. Pretty common thing in dictatorship. The USA also had concentration camp for Japanese people and American citizens of Japanese origin during WW2, did you know that? Why nobody ever talks about it? Also, the USA dropped two atomic bombs on INNOCENT CIVILIANS... so, who's the big WAR CRIMINAL, huh? I'm ok with you pointing out the attack of Greek population during the WW2 war, but... do you know of any wars in which the army of one Country don't attack civilians of the Country they're occupying?
@ImperatorLemon11 күн бұрын
@gabrielesolletico6542 You're actually naive if you think the atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima weren't necessarily. They very much were, and without them, the United States would've had to invade Japan through a land invasion that would've killed a dozen times more people than the bombs. The Japanese military didn't even surrender after the first bomb. The Japanese internment camps were bad and a horrible part of American history, but don't act like everyone else wasn't doing worse things. Also, the difference between chemical warfare in WW1 and WW2 is the severity of it and the laws around it. Italys actions in ethiopia caused international outrage and condemnation.

@Steph-ty6lg Hello! its late but i wanted to help explain the series a bit more to help you understand it better! Also, while i still like the series, it isnt one of my main fandoms/hyperfixations at the moment. That said, the appeal of the series (at least in my opinion) comes from the characters themselves and the comedic/satirical way they're depicted, not necessarily dark humor. - Contrary to what a lot of people (and especially outsiders to the fandom!) tend to say about the series, the main focus isn't actually WW2? It's more on just history in general, the first season just happens to focus on that part more but for later seasons and especially the manga, it tends to cover a wide range of historical events or even topics like culture and oftentimes introductions to other countries and even anecdotes on current events! - When you read/watch more of it, you'll find that WW1 and WW2 only make up a small chunk of it while the rest is varied or sometimes not even related to any event at all (there's literally a number of episodes where they're students looking into different clubs and another where they're all cats playing around). - The characters themselves are not supposed to represent certain historical figures but are treated as the country/the spirit of the country and the mannerisms are more sterotypical reflections of what the people living in those places are like. Basically, they represent the people and the culture itself not a specific individual in it. - The depiction of events are often oversimplified and are used to set up the joke/narrative involving the characters or to poke fun at absurdities. Sometimes very simplified context/info is given but Hetalia was never really meant to be educational to begin with. - The creator himself (Hidekaz Himaruya) has travelled to other countries before and has based some characters on people he knew. Germany in particular was based of off his friend from there and so on. - In terms of more sensitive topics like atrocities and crimes, these are never shown as Himaruya stated before that they wouldn't do so nor do they want to. In part where implications can't be avoided, the characters often express their discontentment/dissatisfaction with what is happening. Because they are countries, they're kind of at the mercy of whoever is leading the nation at that point. (Germany openly disliking his boss/being unwilling to follow, Russia referring to his bosses' orders as unreasonable, and America being kept in the dark about what his boss knows are some examples from the manga). While not always there, sometimes there is a clear divide/tension between what the country wants for its people and what the government (their boss) wants in some episodes/chapters. - Overall I'd say the series really was just something made for fun and as satire. It started off as a webcomic on the creator's personal blog and while some depictions and oversimplifications are iffy, I honestly never got the sense that it was made with any malicious intent. The characters bicker at times but they are often shown in a more wholesome light or in a more "The world is beautiful" or "Let's all have fun together" kind of vibe! One of the newer chapters in the ongoing manga shows the southeast asian countries just...relaxing and talking about the type of coffee they serve in their respective nations. Another one has France, Italy and Germany discussing food and cooking. Of course there's still a lot of issues and design/writing choices that need fixing, but I do like that Himaruya has made an effort to change some of these and focus on other topics as well. For all the negatives surrounding Hetalia it has done some good as well since it did serve as representation for micronations or countries that are often ignored in media and these were very well received by the nations they were based on on top of showcasing cultural differences and encouraging some people to get into studying actual history. I completely understand why you and others are put off of course and I really don't blame you for that considering the subject matter and some fans do tend to take things too far but I hope my reply has helped clear some misconceptions up even a little^^

So if anyone then taught the Japs writing, it is the Chinese. Heard of the Han Dynasty Lelang Commandery? There wasn't a Korea at that time. Even Koguryeo which isn't really Korean came into being centuries after the 3rd century.

Wild for a Japanese anime to villainize SK like this when the Japanese government refuses to address or acknowledge their war crimes during WWII (especially towards SK) They got beef for a reason

a little bit too wild, its like being petty for a scratch on your knee that you got from beating up a few people that (almost) did nothing to you in school and you just report that scratch to the teachers saying you did nothing they started it first

The anime series changed its name to Hetalia: World Series after the first few seasons, then Beautiful World, then World Twinkle. The manga kept Axis Powers for longer but then shifted to World Stars about around ten years ago? It's been running as World Stars for far longer now than Axis Powers. It's focusing wayyy less on World War II skits now and has genuinely shifted to more modern topics. Last year there was a lot of Brexit skits for some reason and some EU stuff.

@user-ob1oc4sk7w the titlr of a cute and silly anime having the word axis powerd in it is....kinda not so cute and silly imo
@willromez5 ай бұрын
@user-ob1oc4sk7w the show back then literally had the word axis powers on it. The same word used to describe the coalition that brought ww2 and billions of dead bodies along with it so no shit people would think that that shit aint ok Especially due to the fact that this series is written by a person who's from a country that was a part of the axis powers and making light of what they did which just exudes ignorance on their part

Tbf the AUDACITY of Japan to pick on Korea after all the sht they did to them is something else. I'm not Korean but even that boils my blood
@shayshawbear38655 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t say “pick on” and it’s also not even that bad or meant to be taken seriously (it’s a silly little anime for heaven sakes). In all seriousness, Korea actually does market things to be theirs that are authentically Japanese, examples could be ramen, tonkatsu, sushi, etc. so that part is true to an extent. Idk about the groping part, but I mean, LOOK AT FRANCE, he is a huge pervert in the anime and nobody takes that seriously. Again, this is all satire, it’s literally just a show about personified anime characters.
@ishitok-1365 ай бұрын
@@shayshawbear3865the problem is the fact that Korea is depicted as a groping pervert. If u didn’t know, Japan invaded China and Korea in WW2 and was notorious for their millions of rape. Women that were “conquered” from these countries were seen as rewards for the Japanese soldiers, so basically they raped abryeone they saw on the streets. As for Korea, it was a similar experience, except u had people called comfort women instead. No matter the satire, the audacity to portray Korea as a pervert that GROPES Japan (of all places ahem) is just horrible and disgusting. I know that this is simply a satirical show, but sometimes, certain events in history are not to be made a fun of, I hope my opinion changes your opinion a bit 😅

The writers likely didn't even know, the Japanese school system doesn't tell people anything and most people there don't even know what a N@zi is so the authors were lucky to even have a decent understanding of how WWII worked
