Has soon as you started the video I couldn’t help but think about your father having watched your channel for ever now. When you think about some random guy from North Carolina is remembering your Dad after all these years is a real lasting legacy to him. That’s what your channel is all about well done.

Yes it’s awesome that you want to honor his legacy like this too. If I might as an outsider looking in, I wonder if he would be upset for you taking risks with the machines just to mow that area. Like it’s beautiful I too have lost a parent, but they should be honored through their good memories in my opinion. I know if I left a legacy behind I would rather be memorialized by the beautiful pond looking over that scene than in the woods where someone would be at risk. Just a thought love the channel and your father is smiling proudly watching you for sure.

I miss my dad as well. He was an intensely private man who made it a point to keep me at arms reach concerning his past. His time in the military, his first wife, all were off limits. He honestly believed his life started when he found my mom and they began a life’s journey at tat point. He loved me and was intensely proud of my accomplishments. I truly do miss him now that I’m approaching my twilight years. We would’ve had some amazing conversations by now. He died at 73 also. That’s what sparked this discussion.

@@ronbuckner8179 I was extremely close to my dad. He taught me so many things. Later in life as I learned things that dad didn't know, I would show him. He was so proud of me for that.

Your dad is watching you, he’s smiling down on you and I’m sure he’s proud of all that you have accomplished! I’m proud of you for conquering that hillside especially knowing that’s where your dad lost his life. I know firsthand from losing my mom to a horse riding accident that being in that same environment stirs a lot of fears and emotions! Fears that I never had before, was aware of potential danger but blind to the fact that it can happen to anyone at anytime!

Sometimes it seems we say not me or it won't happen to me and despite all of the thoughtout pre plans and safety mechanisms we are ultimately provided the realization that control is always an illusion until it is lost. Our emotions can be a gift or a curse which always provide challenges to overcome, grow and learn in healthy ways...

My dad died in '86 - before cell phones and the internet. I was 24 at that time - he was 60. Hard to believe that was 38 years ago and now I'm 62. Two years older than he was! Thanks for sharing Mike. I'm guessing you're thinking of making a nice area there that would be fitting for a nice memorial for your dad!

Mike, thank you for sharing a bit more about yourself with us. It helps us gain a better understanding about you and where you've been. 63 years ago about this time of the year my dad was severely injured in a farm accident. The injuries ended his life 3 years later. The accident occurred on the first day of vacation bible school. I was about to turn 13 and I didn't want to go. I offered to stay home and help daddy work but being the loving father that he was he said "no son, go on around there to the church and have fun". Being an obedient child i didn't protest. I am 100% certain that the accident would not have happened if I had been there. Like you DP, when I look out of my house and over the farm I see the scene of the accident. I try not to think about it. I'll never say that I know how you feel but I will say that we have stood in similar shoes. It's a bitter sweet feeling. 😮

"It's so loud and violent!" Violent is an understatement! Glad MBTS finally gets to see it in action! The conversation about Mike's dad is always a part of any work he does on this part of his property. Those of us who have been with the channel long enough expect it every time. I also just realized that this may be the last time we see the 120 on this hillside with the brush hog. The next time this hillside gets cleared there might be a new excavator running that brush hog.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Couldn’t tell you exactly how long I’ve been watching but I knew exactly where you were going to. I was watching the last time you made that video. I understand that the time hasn’t come together yet but might be nice to improve the path into that place since you will probably making that trip for hopefully many more times and years to come. It’s a interesting and unique piece of land with a very sad history. I appreciate that you share that segment of your past with your viewers. As far as jumping onto the bandwagon about safety, we all care about you and your family. I know hearing protection is a very hard individual battle to fight. I can only say I regret some of the things I wish I had done differently and not protecting my ears is definitely one of them. But it’s kind hard to speak out to others when I once again had the volume blasting full power because I didn’t want to miss a single point and my ears are now ringing and likely will be for an untold period of time somewhere between a few hours, days, weeks, or months before they settle down again. Wishing you and your family the best.

Mike: Yes, we absolutely enjoy the ride! I love the Dirt Perfect Channel. It's the perfect balance of Work and Fun. We all, learn something almost every video. The banter between you and Aaron and Matt are worth the price of admission. Your feelings for that "spot" will always be raw. I look forward to hearing the full story, when the day comes you are ready to tell it. I farm and I pastor a church. I've been there 45 years. 26 years ago, in my church, with my brother preaching, our father got right with the Lord. I can still see his tears on the alter and that alter will always be very special to me. Dad died 36 days later. Mike, keep keeping on! We love you and the channel. Been with you for about three and a half years and I'm here to stay. I've told all my friends about the channel and I know some have Subscribed. Thanks again! Lee
