We call brown recluse Christmas spiders because you always hear about people being bit around Christmas. I don't know if the encroaching cooler weather drives the devils inside or down out of attics but I had one on my bed about 10yrs ago about 5 days before Christmas but the temp was in a run of low 80s and upper 70s. Anyway if it hadn't been for this little female cat I had found a day or two before and let sleep on my bed I would've been bitten. I had just pulled the sheets and light comforter down when the cat jumped on the pillow and started chasing something across the bed but I couldn't see it because the light blanket was a paisley like yellows and light brown pattern. When the spider reached the end of the bed it jumped and I could see it. The cat was on its ass and cornered it behind a chest of drawers. The spider turned, faced the cat and reared up. In that moment I saw that it was a recluse, right before my girl threw several swats ending its life. I then retrieved it and confirmed what it was. The cat that I named Cara got her a stocking full of toys and treats and is still with me, curling up against my chest at night.

I swear when the narrator says stuff like "the bite can cause necrosis and death" then it's followed up immediately with some dumbass holding said spider, I'm left speechless.

Wolf Spiders are like a zero on the danger scale. Absolutely one of the friendlier spiders besides the gregarious jumping spiders.

Brazilian guy here. I used to have one Brazilian wandering spider as a pet when I was a kid. I used to feed it with a sort of living insects. Never knew it was so dangerous like that...lol

I live around brown recluse I see them alot they get up too around an inch and they are actually extremely aggressive they will fight you for your own furniture

Living in Australia I share my home with Redbacks. Under my garden rocks, outdoor chairs, even shoes

The most diabolical spider of all is the yellow sac spider. There are more bites from this spider than all other spiders combined. They will bite you just because they can. Their venom is definitely not weak either. Slightly less potent than a black widow.

Later on, you showed the Black Widow separately. The two are very similar in appearance, but you initially didn't distinguish between them.

I see a lot of spiders, and most of them are wolf spiders. One time I saw a really big wolf spider in my pool while we drained it, we got it out and it was REALLY BIG. And then we found another one but WAYYY tinier. It was on the roof in the kitchen while my dad was washing dishes. It wouldn’t stop following him until he went on the couch.

Having lived in Sydney, Australia for most of my life, I can advise that I’ve never seen a redback under a toilet seat and these spiders are common but not aggressive. Usually found under the house, under rocks or bricks, in garages/sheds. Use common sense and don’t just lift up big rocks etc without being careful what might be under there or stick your hands in dark holes in sheds or outdoors.

One time I was playing basketball with my dad and I saw a red back spider

I was on Diego Garcia for a month with a detachment. I spider bit a guy in the bunk next to me while he was sleeping. He had a silver dollar size infected area within 24 hours. They had to medevac the guy to a hospital in Australia. Never heard how things turn out for him.

In the philippines, we got huntsman spiders the size of your head, and they just chill inside your house. Always had to check under the toilet seat and toilet in case they're chillin in there too while I'm taking a shit. Nothing more scary than a spider jumping on your butt crack.

Spiders dont have poison, they are venomous - just like snakes etc. Poison applies to edible things, venom applies to animals that carry toxic fluid for defense or hunting.

The small ones, like the Black Widows and Brown Recluse, seem extra dangerous and scary because people often don't even see them until it's too late. The big ones like the Brazilian Wandering Spider, though horrifying as well, at least you'd be more likely to see them in many cases.

I have been bitten by a brown recluse March 8, 2024. I am 71. I am researching more about the bite and deaths. I was bitten at the base of my skull after trying on a tightly fitting skirt at a dress shop. I had pulled it down over my head, first, and then put my arms through and struggled it down. I had more than ten bites of varying degrees on me, as I healed their tracks were evident. I also had a bad bite center, upper back. Very painful. So many symptoms. Nausea still remaining. I used a dry Redmond clay mixed to a paste to pull poison out. I added silver drops to fight infections, as my entire upper back was swelling. I am out of danger, but headed to KCMO as soon as my social security comes the 29th, in 8 days. I hope it is not too late by then. I am seeking ozone IV treatment to remove my blood and clean it ten times. Hopefully it will stop my system from attacking itself,shut down my system, causing death. I was bitten on a vein, I am pretty sure. Not good. I am praying I can make it to that date.
