Hailed as one of the greatest television shows of all time, The Sopranos spent six seasons delving into the world of organized crime in New Jersey. The series launched the careers of a number of actors and not only put HBO on the map, but proved that television could truly compete with film as an artistic medium.
Violence on the show wasn’t pretty, and no one was safe from it. And as we all know, TV greatness can never be achieved without the death of at least a few characters we know and love - or love to hate. Let's take a look at the most devastating deaths on The Sopranos.

Yeah Richie was a hypocrite (as were most of the characters), in how he cautioned Christopher about laying hands on Adrianna, saying if Chrissy wants to do that he has to give her his last name first. Richie was only engaged to Janice as he struck her, and she shoots him to death lol Ralph was definitely a love-hate relationship. His jokes were hilarious, but he was a loose canon.

Tony didn’t kill Chris over his baby girl, that was an excuse to justify the real reason of killing Chrissy: Chrissy a huge liability to Tony, and he saw him as the #1 person to snitch on him. The one that hit me the most was when Ralph killed the stripper. It was just like a "what the actual fuck?" moment. It was just too much. A fate that awaited him, with or w/o being "pinched", similar to how Jackie Aprile died. At least the Feds let his wife and daughter freely visit him as he wasted away. In real life, I doubt that happens much, a dying prisoner MIGHT, might be granted humane release to die in a hospice and at least have family with him in his last few weeks, but, a Federal judge isn't bound to do so. It would have been even more sad to have him die in the prison hospital ward, ALONE.

Good video, I remember every one of those deaths. The only critique I have is the video didn't show why Christopher Moltisanti chose crime life over Adrianna. Christopher Moltisanti was toying with the idea of leaving the mob with Adrianna but, after seeing a guy who was about his age with a family getting into an old beat-up car, he realized that in order to maintain the lifestyle he's become accustomed to, he would have to continue to be a wise guy.

He took an oath to the mob. When you become a "made" man you promise to forsake everything in your life except the mob. Christopher was too into the life to ever consider going straight. Plus he always had the H Chipper hanging around his neck. Not always true. Most of the time C.I.'s are pulled fast when intelligence even hints at trouble. C.I. has no choice. There is a process involved, emergency code. Adriana could have had a team of agents be there when Silvio came to pick her up. BOOM Silvio locked up. Then he is flipped. She lives.

Christopher's death hit me the hardest because: 1. I think he would have been the most important ally to Tony during the "War" with NY that took place in the final episodes. 2. The way he died, by Tony's hands. After all, Christopher gave up for Tony.

Chris was garbage. Got what he deserved. Only sad thing about that scene is how it was Tony doing it that understated way. But also weird how Tony ends up killing both his close relatives in sort of mercy killings. He killed Tony B to spare him from Phil torturing him to death. Then he kills Christopher to spare Christopher the pain of his addictions, and also to spare himself and others from Christopher’s fuckups.

There’s one fate worse than death that’s not mentioned here : uncle Junior’s drifting in dementia. I watched the series a long time ago but that last visitation scene from Tony is still vivid in my mind, especially these few last words they exchange, and Tony as the boss of the family, in the smooth peace of this nursing home, betrays the Omerta and commits the worse sin of the mafia by mentionning to his uncle how he used to be part of "that thing that’s ours", and Uncle Jun blankly replies "oh, I was part of that ?" and you can tell by his quiet astonished tone that something remote echoes somewhere deep within in his broken mind, but he has definitely become unable to remember what it is...

As much as Chris was a loose cannon, he tried to rectify his demons by going clean, and trying to maintain a good position in the mob circle. It can easily be forgotten how terrible the people were around him, especially Tony. Never supportive of his sobriety, manipulate him (with the whole adriana and him thing grabbing a bite to eat lol), Chris wanted some general respect from Tony as a human being, but he knew he would never get it.
