That is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. I used to draw realistic animals so I know what you were talking about and just wow I can’t imagine the work that went into that, it’s beautiful. I’m happy it got you a lot of recognition because you sure do deserve it. It can be really frustrating being an artist.

Thank you so much for this video! I made a huge charcoal drawing 2 years ago, realistic (not hyperrealistic like yours), but still - it took me so long. Drawing like this just feels like work, your eyes are swollen at the end of the day and you move in between centimeters all the time. After couple of hours, the progress is not in relation and you think : goood this is will be a long long run. I can totally relate to that feeling and the result is rewarding! It's definitely an incredible drawing!

I love that this drawing has so many layers to it. You have the stunning hyper realistic image it portrays, the meaning it carries (which most probably varies from person to person), the incredible amount of work it took, and the immense emotional and mental toll it took to make this. Your patience is admirable, if I had to stare at my own art for any more than a few days I’d go crazy, and I make geometric shit that isn’t even that artsy, not realistic stuff. Congratulations for making such an eye catching piece (sorry for the word play), with such an enormous input that you can see not only from the precision, but also just the general feel of it. It is unimaginably beautiful, I applaud you for your skill and care in all the art I’ve seen by you, especially this one.

When you pour so much of yourself into work it is almost priceless because who can pay you for the hours and days and years. even when you are not working on it your mind is musing over it ugh. When you gave how long it took it really hit home thank you sometimes we get into our own world we can not possibly conceive how anyone can relate. Then that small spark happens when someone does. This was therapy for me to start again.

I'm working on a drawing from a picture I took of my dogs eye with the reflection of my other dog in it. I lost them both and while challenging for me emotionally I hope by the end to find it cathartic in helping me make peace with my grief. People don't understand how much of ourselves we truly put into our work, they are literally reflections of our souls. Don't let ANYONE that's incapable of doing what you do tell you how to do it! What ticks me off is that there was a person who duck taped a banana to a wall and sold it for 12 grand. And there are people like this who work their ass off to create this beautiful art work and are under rated.

As I have aged (now 70), I can remember when my eyesight was really good (20/15), and then in my 40s, the near vision went, so I needed glasses when reading and working on the computer. Then Type II Diabetes in my mid 50s with further degradation of my vision so that now it's bifocals that never really quite get me as clear as memory tells me I used to be able to see, and the start of cataracts. These memories and watching this progression of diminishing eye health makes me think about the preciousness of vision. It is one of the first and primary ways that as humans we interact with the world we are born into. Newborn infants eyesight is best somewhere between 12 and 18 inches - about the distance from mom's breast to her face. We first learn to appreciate our near environment, and gradually look out farther to discover the wider world. We learn to imagine from what we see, and how we think about it, and then we begin to mentally manipulate it. So your study of the eye goes beyond it's structure - you capture it's function in the physical, mental, emotional, and psychological aspects all in one drawing. Astounding! Great work!

Many times I have to give up and then go back when refreshed and inspired to carry on with a different perspective. It must be very frustrating if you are totally financially dependent on your work.
