Is this the most efficient space program in the world? Throughout the history of spaceflight we’ve seen some incredible achievements take place, but there's one country that isn’t often mentioned in the history of spaceflight, and that country is India. This video looks at the efficiency of India’s space program when it comes to cost saving and building rockets.

I'm from Pakistan and I deeply respect ISRO for trying to achieve what they dream. Pakistani politicians laughed when India's latest mission to moon failed but I thought that these morons are laughing at someone who is working hard and trying and we know that someone who works harder and keeps tying, gets the last laugh! I genuinely felt sorry for all the men and women who worked on that mission. I believe that failure is the best teacher and hard work always pays off and eventually leads to success! Keep trying ISRO, you'll be successful!

I have never hated any country, But it hurts me when I see someone say bad about my country (I am not targeting Zeeshan Atif) There are few people from developed country such as USA in the comments saying that "It was just luck" or "They should teach us how to shower" or "Indians don't have money so they used bullock carts XD", I hate to see it when people from Developed country starts acting like a child and be so narrow minded, If it's called "Development" then what's the point of the word?

@Indian Atheist I dont think im personally responsible for all them things am I? I've literally shared a comment based on positivity, based on my lifes understanding.... not from things I dont understand or I've had part of. Im sorry you feel that way, but if you can attack a pretty decent and innocent comment, then I think you need to question your own ethological values before you judge mine.

@Indian Atheist and in your anger you asked me lots of questions that I dont know the answer to or could ever make right. I gave a positive comment, regarding how I admire those people, and you replied to me personally with a bunch of negativity, as though I'm directly or indirectly responsible for what my ansestors did. In all fairness and I've got to be completely honest, I say I'm from the UK, and you assume I'm British by race. I repeat what my message is, its total respect for those people, I wanted to show my admiration, I have Indian friends I grew up with and I wont change my position on this. Again im sorry for your feelings of hatred or sense of wanted justice, but I dont have that power to put things right, and neither do you, but positivity and hope out master hatred and anguish.

My motto is this, if your blood flows red your my brother or sister. I dont believe in anyone being less than someone else, we are what we do. The guy who originally posted asked me several questions about what the British did to the Indian people as tho I was part of it. And sadly and I suppose quite ignorantly.. I know a guy who worked at ISRO for about 2 years. He said unlike other government jobs, ISRO is very different. The workload is tremendous even if you are just an intern. They give too much responsibility to you even if you are a newbie. It's like they just throw you into the den, and let you figure out how gonna survive. And you are answerable for any failure that happens under your watch. They don't care how new or experienced you are. The verbal scoldings are what you would expect out of military. You get a lot of free and way better facilities compared to other government jobs. But you will probably spends months with just 3-4 hrs sleep a day. So kiss goodbye to your personal life. No time for yourself or your family, just work and more work. It's just never enough.

ISRO scientists and engineers aren't really underpaid. Yes, the pay and facilities are still somewhat lesser than NASA but you've to take into account the purchasing power and cost of living as well. $10k will get you almost the same amount of stuff in India compared to $80k in the States. You can actually live a decent life here with that money. The problem plaguing ISRO right now isn't cost. Yes, increase in budget will let them do a lot of stuff at a faster rate but the problem right now is lack of innovation. Frugal engineering alone won't cut it in the future. New typ of launch vehicles like reusable ones, new ion engines, investing in scramjets etc is a must. ISRO is doing that but only after SpaceX has already done it. ISRO needs to do something unique and be the first space agency to do it. Private Space firms will soon take over. NASA will most likely completely outsource the launching business to SpaceX and Blue Origin in the next decades. SpaceX is right now already more ambitious than NASA and they have the most powerful rocket in the world and are building something even more powerful. Blue Origin will follow suit. Electron will launch rockets with a much lower budget in the future. In such competitive atmosphere, govt space agencies will not remain cost effective for long
@adityarajsrivastava6580
@adityarajsrivastava6580 3 жыл бұрын
You are right but ISRO is not to compete in the space technology with other countries. In the coming years they have many ambitious projects. Budget is not really a problem as the efficiency they launch missions is far more than any other agency. Problem is that they can't do much of research and development as they have to launch satellites more often. Introduction of private players will help them to do missions at a rate like NASA.

@ex0duzz 3 жыл бұрын
Why does India need to be the first to do something? India cannot compete with USA or Russia, even China can't. That's why China doesn't even try compete or be in any race with them. Instead China works on the fundamentals and takes it step by step, only moving on when it has figured out the basics. China does it all on China's own time, according to China's own development. No need for vanity project and pretend you can run for short sprint only when you haven't even mastered walking yet. India should do like China.. Fix the foundations of the country and technology, and then move up from there. Fix corruption first and foremost, then fix education(which includes fake news and religious lies and superstitious), then improve infrastructure and focus on eradicating poverty and building middle class during all this time. And keep on reforming India to attract foreign investment, especially Chinese investment since China is moving to higher tech and branding and IP and finance now, India can take China's low end manufacturing instead of Africa and Vietnam or ASEAN countries etc. then do what China did.. Learn and become the boss and rapid development of your infrastructure and economy and technology. But first and foremost you need to get competent and loyal leaders who is willing to take risk to make India great.. Like Indias own Deng Xiao Ping, the Chinese leader who introduced capitalism after Mao died and ended full on communism. India needs drastic reform and Revolution in the same way that Deng changed China, because it's obvious that what India has been doing is not working and will simply be left behind by the rest of the world. If India wants to be rival to China or USA, or even Germany, Japan, Australia etc, then it needs to change. Right now it's competing vs Pakistan, and being subservient to even Japan. If you can be junior partner to Japan. You can be equal partner with China. China offers the world to India. Japan offers nothing but debt trap and use India vs China and waste Indias time. Same as USA. They won't invest in India like China can and will if India can make peace with China and just focus on trade and development, forget about border issues and other differences.

@@ex0duzz I appreciate you writing this long essay but you really didn't have to. Innovation can happen anywhere. Even in India, among impoverished, corrupt and illiterate people. You don't have to live in an utopia to create something the world has never done before. Does India have problems? Yes. In fact every country does. Do we have to fix and erase all of those problems for ISRO to do something unique? Absolutely not
@tirthavb
@tirthavb 3 жыл бұрын
@Rahul yes, you're partially right about innovations mostly being accidents and for those accidents, we need to burn a lot of cash in experiments and projects and trials but that doesn't mean creating something new always involved money. Einstein needed only a pen and a piece of paper to discover relativity. Let's be honest, the quality of researchers here aren't that great. Indian universities make robots who are great at routine work. Tomorrow if a new technology or a new idea is invented by some space agency, I'm sure ISRO will be able to copy that at a fraction of the cost. Take reusable launch vehicles for example. ISRO never thought of it. Propulsive landing of rocket boosters isn't a very costly experiment. Boosters and first stages were already expendable tech. SpaceX thought out of the box and then changed everything. Now ISRO is doing the same thing. ISRO ADMIRE project is to develop boosters capable of landing like SpaceX. ISRO might even be able to do it at a cheaper cost. But it will remain a fact that, SpaceX first came up with the idea (or first implemented it). What I'm trying to say is, ISRO needs to think out of the box, and not just become something that is only known for cheap launches (ISRO can launch at lower rates not because they have developed tech that enables that to happen . They can do it because the cost of the employees is less and because of frugal engineering. That is not going to help in the long run)
