The Most Evil Magic Item in D&D- The Book of Vile Darkness
If a Dungeon Master is looking to add a magic item into their game that is going to have campaign rippling effects throughout the D and D verse look no further. The Vile Book of Darkness is equally sought after by an evil knight, warrior, sorcerer, dark cleric, wizard, or warlock it offers power to any who are evil enough or have hearts full darkness. This evil artifact looks to corrupt the pure of heart and bend them to vile acts and dark adventures. A Game Master who introduces this into there gaming table is sure to end up with some D&D stories to tell. The book of vile darkness was first introduced into Dungeons and Dragons in 3.5 and has resurfaced in 4e as well 5th edition DUngeons & Dragons

I had an idea for a campaign where the villain’s ultimate plan is to ‘reboot’ the multiverse in an effort to create a temporary state where there is no existence, and hence no good or evil, with the intension of destroying the Book in that moment. they would have to commit evil deeds to keep the book. The players would uncover their effort to destroy the multiverse fairly early on but not realize their motivation until the end and be forced to decide if they want to help them or stop them.

I think that a former bearer who gained immortality would be a great PC. Some one who attempted to destroy the book but lost it at the 11th hour. Just make him neutral or good but have him have this tick where he must do something cruel every once in a while out of habit, as well as darker moments. It would also be a great way to explain a highly experienced warrior, archer or bard with lvl 1. Hes out of practice. He would make a great character to give additional information to, but would likely turn traitor as the book gets near.

I've reimagined it as a music composition book currently in the hands of a pixie bard. She used it to write great symphonies on the nature of evil and, consequently, become corrupted to the point of lichdom. As the players pursue her to stop her greatest composition, each adventure is themed with the music of her evolution, so that as they progress they learn more and more about the pixie villain and she is an ever present force defining the world around them.

Once I was playing a half-orc barbarian in a Pathfinder game (it was my first ever time playing a tabletop game so I kept it simple), and we were having particularly difficult time interrogating a lone guard after we had killed his comrades. This guard was in the service of a villain, and we were all either neutral or good of some variety. I was chaotic good at the time. Finally, after an hour and a half of trying to get answers, I had had enough. I had my character grab the top half of a dead guard I had bisected on an earlier critical hit, shoved my arm deep into his torso, and decided to make a diplomacy check by using the guard's corpse as a hand puppet and doing a funny voice, saying things like "Come on, buddy, you can tell me! I'm your friend!" He vomited, pissed himself, and passed out from sheer terror. On my diplomacy check. Needless to say, despite our monk and wizard finding it hilarious, our paladin went from mortified to furious. The DM changed my alignment to chaotic neutral, and that if I ever did something like that again, he would make me chaotic evil , meaning the paladin and I would have to fight each other. Thankfully the wizard owed me a favor since I had saved him from drowning earlier in the campaign, and was the only one to try.

Destroyed a game I played in sometime ago... contained the spell Necromancer's Ultimate Killing Enchantment which the bearer cast on a creature we were in melee with... the initials of the spell should have been a clue to the effect... wiped out the party and the city, and a fair portion of the surrounding countryside!!!

I was listening to this video and it gave me the idea for an evil campaign where yes a warlock found the book and it became his patron but in addition to that it gave him a compulsion to gather certain materials and as time progressed he was building a body out of the materials where the books essence would transfer and it'd become a new dark god

I actually just read a short story where a character did something similar, but he was transferring his own mind into a giant corpse monster and it was his former apprentice that stopped him.

Once got the Book of Vile Darkness as a quest reward. Best. God dammed. Reward. Ever. I became a fucking Lich Pirate King (we took over a city and then set sail again). I also used it as a buckler shield because it was basically indestructible. Ah, good times. We all got legendary magic items, and my DM at the time knew *exactly* what to give me. Man, I miss that campaign

Logan Farley Our actions threw the world into a dark age. My excessive use of the Book corrupted not only myself, but the city we ruled over. We're playing in the same world now, only 10,000 years in the future, and the city is a spawning point for Undead (both intelligent and not) that are slowly taking over the planet. They're led by a certain Litch King that our DM hasn't flat out said is me, but we all know is.

Over several years perfect your recipe for BBQ boneless chicken that the whole town loves, all the while using raise skeleton to seperated the chickens from the flesh that is the want of the region for it's awesome taste. Nerdarchy I just have to share probably the most entertaining hour of DnD from a single piece of loot. It is the "Deck of Many Things". I gave this loot to a level 18 group that was in the process of doing a quest for Bahamut, after finishing "The Rise of Tiamat" yada yada. So here's what happened: They decided to pull a card, and the first card pulled was The Void, that character going limp as his soul is transferred away. They thought, ok, we'll just go save him, and kept pulling cards. After a good half hour of random gambling for good cards, many various good and bad things happened, including the paladin gaining a level, and the fighter loosing 6 Int, or something like that. Eventually another person pulls the Void. Now the party is worried they can't actually retrieve people. So looking at the possible things they could get from the deck, they decided that the remaining players will pull cards until they get the wish spell, and as a result, wish that they never found the deck in the first place. Player after player pulled cards until they got either the void, or the moon (wishes). And as a result, player after player kept going into the void. Until the final character was left, and if he didn't pull the wish, then basically their campaign is over. He got down to 3 cards left, the void, moon, and something else.. when he finally pulled the wish. Ohhhh the cheers that went up. This is by far one of the most evil items you could possibly give characters. Everyone in the campaign, including me, will instantly look to sell this deck if I ever found one in a future campaign. :p

steal a kid's toy? what is this? "Kindness & Dragons?" have a friend cast enlarge on the toy, then you animate with instructions to murder little Billy while you laugh and pee on him. Then maybe cook him, put him in a pie, cast Prestidigtation on it as you knock on the mom's door disguised as a new neighbor. You both have coffee and Billy Pie. When she finishes what tasted like a wonderful dessert from a kindly neighnor, you break out the big guns and throw her the reveal. Drop the tastey spell, remove tour disguise, splash your coffee in her face, tell her she is eating her medium rare child, chew with your mouth open, laigh manicallly, and animate the pie crust to dance around like an undead blueberry pie kid. NOOWWWW you're evil.

My guess for stealing the toy rationale would be you plan to do that stuff but due to incapacitated you are now like at the half a minute left mark on getting your evil deed in before the end of the week mark. Killing him just will take too long, mind you, that will be part of what you do but there's only thirty seconds left before the book "Poofs" away so you are doing what you can.

I homebrewed about 40 pages of this thing together, translating to about 300 in game. I wasn’t intending on giving it to them, but I did give them the deck of many things. They pulled a card stating that they received a magic item of the dms choosing. I believe that the deck should be truly random, so I rolled for the page number and rolled for the item on that page. Book of vile darkness. They’re so terrified of it because one of the members knew exactly what it was and now they’re like “we’re 6 random dudes running around with the ‘Evil Mage Manifesto’ what the hell do we do?”

Final session of the campaign I was in, I ended up obtaining the book (dm made it so only an evil character can attune to it - I was the the only one, being a Chaotic Evil character). Epilogue comes around, and I decide to play the whole “one vile act every 10 days” and “no willing good acts” deal, all while I get powerful enough to take out that entity of great evil that would claim my soul, and take its place. Considering my character is one of those CE characters who isn’t crazy or insane, having her show up in the dm’s planned sequel campaign (as an NPC) will be interesting. Especially since I will be providing some of the ideas for how far from grace she will fall to reach her goal.

One idea that could be the basis for the remainder of the campaign is having the Book Of Vile Darkness outline the path to Godhood. That would be an EVEN better reason for an evil deity to want it out of your hands, no new competition.

In the homebrew campaign I am running, the lore was built on the premise of "Words have power, some more so than others", so much so to achieve divinity you must have enough worshippers to become ascended by thevpower of their words. So true names have truly immense power in this world, I might have to use this book to see if the players indulge in it.

The awesome potential of using the in-character book-item itself aside (which I think you guys covered briefly, but quite well in the video), not many other things I have come across are as clear-cut bad, and disturbingly awful as the enemies you can easily come up with for a mostly-good party using TBoVD. I have read through it a few times (the supplement ;) not the real book), at the start of a pass-the-DM-hat 3.5 game, just to get some ideas etc. Then during that game it was definitely inspiring for me, and at least one other player/DM, as we both used some content from it, and I know that I personally even began creating some slightly modified villains using stuff from the book, including a totally custom-made arch-nemesis style boss-like villain which I was inspired to create for our campaign, plus some modified encounter locations using stuff from the supplement. For someone like myself, who generally has no trouble coming up with ideas of all kinds, and is not easily surprised or grossed out, it was pretty impressive as a strong source of horror, evil, nausea and the like. ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong. the "book of exhaled deeds" states that once you do evil you lose All benefits. The "book of vile darkness" doesn't say but has conditions like being attuned, and having it on you. Assuming you do good and it disappears, do you keep "adjusted ability scores", "mark of darkness" as well as benefits and detriments not related to being attuned or having it on you? On that note I assume you become un-attuned once you lose either book, right? I can't find a ruling but I'm pretty sure.

I'm currently playing an evil cleric on a quest for immortality for himself and his cult, this item would be amazing for him to find, he could find it and find out the ritual to lichdom or even assention and then spend the campaign trying to get the 7 or 8 components together for said ritual, it would be a great narrative motivation and the further my cleric goes the harder they are to get, like they could start out with something like a basilisk heart, then a bone devil skull all the way up too like a jar of Tarrasque blood or an already existing lich's phylactery, it could be the over arching goal of his campaign

One of my favorite Evil moments, preamble, Pathfinder, Skulls n Shackles, Me NE wiz. We had been lacking of ship raids of late and finally hit a small vessel but was only a fishing ship, a Father and Son on board, my weak captain got talked down from taking his whole catch to a day worth for our crew and tossing his few coins into the sea for Besmara, the sea goddess. So I being evil and annoyed wait till they are just about out of range... Then Phantasmal killer, on the father, a distant pain scream carried over the waves PAPA NOOOO!!!!! >:Dc This act may have helped me get my Imp familiar later on. Later i was going to sac the whole port city to get Lichdom+ but our game slowed to a craw a few levels b4 that happened. I also hired on a cockney young lad as our cabin boy,,, just to use as my catalyst for the grand blood sacrifice. Was in the steps to endear him to me and the rest of the crew. Ahhhh Evilllllll So good.

I had an artifact book I home-brewed when I was 16 (1988), The Codex of Entropic Evil. It was similar in many ways but not nearly as interesting. It could be used as a library for researching vile spells, researching abominable states of being (undead, golem, horrible mutations, etc and a mix of them), used as a traveling spellbook (all spells the holder knows are in it), used in place of any unholy (evil holy) item, find answers to "absolute truths" (evil insights, commune with chaotic evil itself), and provide the reader immunity to control from non-evil non-chaotic beings. The book is easy to destroy but it reforms instantly somewhere within the possession of the owner. If the owner dies (for good), it reforms within the possession of a chaotic evil god until that god gives it to a being that serves it who can use it. Anyone not chaotic evil reading it must choose, either become chaotic evil or disintegrate. They get a save to avoid the choice if they immediately stop reading it. If they passed the save, they still must save twice, once on the Law-Chaos axis, next on the good-evil axis. Failure causes a shift one degree towards Chaotic and-or Evil. If the previous owner was a "walking mockery of life" (undead, golem, mutation, magi-tech cyborg, undead mechanical hybrid, etc) the reader must save against becoming a similar "mockery of life"... the reader can fail the save on purpose if he wants to become that. This is just a summary of the Codex of Entropic Evil. It is the dark counterpart to the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom.

I ran a campaign where the book was reforming by having individual pages appear to evil individuals around the world. Our evil Druid had found the empty book cover, and was slowly collecting the pages over the extent of the campaign. Sadly, he lost it in a bad deal with a devil. Either way, he was still searching for the pages, and had quite a few before the campaign ended. The party would have loved for him to still have it in the last stages of the story. Someday I hope to have some storyline that would return it to the party, but they were level 17 at that point. We all decided to put those characters to rest

However all Holy water within 10 feet of me is destroyed, all non magical flame within 30 feet of me is put out, I can no longer speak, and I have a disadvantage to poison. My DM realized how game changing this would be, and I can occasionally become possessed as well and turn into a monster, by god this is gonna be fun.

I really like magic items with lore.. ♡.♡ I believe the most fun thing to do to a magic item (even if it's 'just' a dagger +1) is to always give it a lore!~ But yeah, this book.. is really nice. I would love to make a campaign about it xD I'm wondering something! If I were to add the true name of a fiend into my world, like a note by a long-dead cleric... And it would be in infernal: does it count as its true name only when you're able to speak infernal/speak it out in infernal (some names might include words that would be translated into a different language)
@Nerdarchy

Cédric Antunes I think that's a call the DM would have to make. The equivalent would be: you have a word of power in Latin, is it still a word of power if it's in Spanish? Maybe if the speaker knows the true name in an esoteric few languages: infernal, abyssal, celestial, primordial, or draconic, it still retains its power? Interesting stuff to think about! -Nerdarchist Ryan

Nerdarchy Or a true name that consists of 2 different languages.. O.O You would need to be able to read both languages in order to read it.. Maybe a fallen angel that turned into something truely evil.. A word in celestial; followed by 2 words in Infernal..

Nerdarchy you should look at the true-namer class from 3.5. The same book lists a few variations on magic. The true namer knows a few words of the MOST primordial language- true speech which I believe the book describes it as the language of creation. Might be something that sparks interest;)

My favorite spell ive seen made by this book was one for mass sacrifice for power, though it was so evil because of how bad it worked. Something like this "deal 4 necrotic damage to all creatures in a 5 mile radius. For every creature killed this way gain 1 experiance" commoners only have 4 hp, so doing this in a town would get you maybe one level, but kill everyone

We don't have the Book of Vile Darkness in our campaign, but the party has a book made of human flesh. It has the power to grant 10th level spells. You have to be to cast spells of that level, and have access to a wish spell to use. If not you when you try to read it, you go insane. We have not look at it beyond the covers.

Good Idea for a campaign incoming! Basically a half mystery and half quest where in the town of 'example town' the players suddenly have a bad case of demons popping out of no where. They have to figure out why these demons are appearing (I.e the book) ,who has the book (I.e main villain), and how too stop them before the villain decided to be serious and summon one of the abyssal lords to end to the world! :D (P.s keep up the good work guys!)

I had a person in the past of my campaign who knew all the languages at the time but is hidden by history. The party has been obtaining pages of his notes to learn more about the world from that past viewpoint. I had looked through magic items in DMG and noticed that the Book of Vile Darkness had a language that only those who attune to it can read and write. So, obviously it had to be in that person's hands at one point in past. My players were around level 6-8 when i found it, but wanted to make it work out before i forgot it. So gave them a page of it to attune to and said there doesn't seem to be any detrimental effect despite the evil aura and the high magic radiating from it. Plan being someone will attune to it to read the notes they just obtained, and shortly afterward they'll lose attunement to it because someone elsewhere attuned to the book, which according to the DMG makes all the loose pages return to the book. Thus adding flavor, doesn't unnaturally change characters when the party is already showing cracks in their cohesion, and seeds future events. The Wizard is good aligned but attuned to it and read page. No detriments given by me. learned a few fiend names, but is busy with a highly racist elf city (the capital in fact) in elven country and trying to get a pirate captain freed because in his past made friends with that pirate crew for the year or two they kidnapped/took care of him. The wizard has figured out that he can't lie (cha dump stat, constantly rolls low in deception). So after obtaining the right to settle a dispute in the council in his favor, while disguised as an Elf, wizard reveals he's actually human and most of his party aren't elves, getting them all sent to prison. But he is brought before the council to get his dispute over with. Instead of using it to free pirate captain he instead debates and tries to force this ability to be use to repeal law banning members of other races into the capital city. One argument was basically more people to share knowledge with and develop new magic. Thanks to someone else's plot point, and earlier rolls basically deciding he knows the laws of this country, he ends up taking up charges of pirate captain and is sentenced to be executed. The rest of party develop a plan to rescue wizard right before his execution, break into a prison to free an NPC they have family ties to, and break into the high security prison the wizard was held but a few hours ago to retrieve most of his stuff. The wizard deciding that this could potentially negate the ruling he forced the city council to make began leaving notes in these places stating it was some elven rebellion that was starting, potentially destabilizing the elves' country, definitely their capital city. Missing items from his stuff: money, gems, ores (including quite a bit that make elves sick from like 5-6 sessions ago), notes, and the page of vile darkness. After that session, the player talked to me in private and was like "yeah, so I don't think my wizard is good. Debatable whether he's evil or not, but I don't think he's good anymore." tl;dr- good aligned wizard attuned to page of vile darkness with no DM made detriment to himself, attempted to do something he considered good because his goal is to develop new magic, commits a bunch of evil or at least morally ambiguous acts in attempt to keep his change active while saving his life, player at end of session decided his wizard isn't good anymore. Sometimes the players will just accidentally activate detrimental effects of items or concepts when you add it in purely to add flavor to something and seed future events with it.

I have a plan for a rogue/warlock in 3.5 that was an evil pixie. The pixie started as a good rogue that tried to still a "Hand of the mage." The pixie was trapped by the demon that the item belonged to and tortured the pixie to turn it evil finally making the pixie then became warlock of that demon. now the pixie hates all life and would enjoy that book. i could see her killing everything it saw so much that killing people would no longer feel like an evil enough act any more lol. My DM has already said no way will the pixie get that book.

I think this would be a fun thing to throw into Avernus. Give it to a corrupted LE Wizard. Now he wants to replace Asmodeous by corrupting an army of Paladins, Devas, Planetars, and Solars to follow him. The goal is always to corrupt these people so any good acts are unfortunate side effects of the corruption process. As a side job you recruit Soldiers to fight under you and your Planetar/Solar Generals and Deva/Paladin Captains. Have one of the Unique spells be a variant on suggestion, lets call it Seed of Corruption, the seed of corruption has been sown, it requires a Wisdom Check(the magic has a subtle masking to it) against the Caster's DC on on each turn roll a Wisdom Check it you fail 3 checks you are now corrupted, your Alignment changes to match the Caster and you subtract your Profiency to all rolls that would oppose the wishes of the caster. If you make 3 successes you overcome the seed of corruption. The seed remains in you but dormant for 7 days and you are vulnerable to its effects. If seed of corruption is used against you again each dormant seed present increases the check DC by 1. You can only remove one dormant seed of Corruption with a 9th lvl protection from Evil and Good. An active corruption can only be removed by a Wish. Divine Intervention has no effect on seed of Corruption. It is Complicated mainly to allow any PCs to have a chance to overcome it but for the Celestials It should be fairly straightforward. It might even negate a total derailment of the campaign if done carefully.

apparently I watched this one before. oh well, watched it again and coming way late at this. however, I gotta say that changing your alignment is INCREDIBLY evil. It was dismissed in the video but think about it. You've been lugging this book around for months committing unspeakable evil acts. Now the law is hot on your heels. You suddenly were turned lawful good. The book abandons you and leaves you to your fate with the local authorities who have been hunting you down and left you in a state where you probably won't fight back, essentially helpless. Now it's off to find another life to ruin.

The Book of Vile Darkness is the McGuffin in a game I've written for my players. It is the source of power for the primary antagonist but really isn't all that important as an aspect of the game. It's just there to explain why things can happen. But the book itself is an incredibly interesting item and I plan of using it more actively in the future.

If you must eliminate all evil from the multiverse, how would you go about eliminating Orcus? Soth? The Old Ones? I think a work around would be to attach a ruin of location on the book that can only be detected by a "monocle of finding" and hand that over to a solar, so at their option, they can find the book and tare it in two every hundred years or so.

My DM decided the book of vile of darkness was an item we needed to stop from falling into evil hands, it ended up with the party’s home town being sieged for many nights by drow, we failed to protect the book and now there are rumours of the drow being able to come to the surface! Was a really fun and game changing item, especially considering the party consists of purely Elves and half elves. We ended up killing multiple members of a high level drow family and now we’re always on the run but hey!

I acutally let one my players get there hands on the book one time and they did the most crazy thing possible with it, that i never saw coming. as the campaign was coming to a close they created a spell using the book that let them rewrite a single artifact at the cost of there life and got to send the artifact to another plane, as he described it he worked for his last remaining 400 elf years doing the evil deads while creating this spell and before his death he used the spell and used it on the book of vile darkness to transform it into ** The book of Pure Soul** He transformed the book into a pure celestrial style version and the next campaign we ran was a War Campaign and there new charcters was fighting off evil that was invading mount celestrial to get to the book back and try to change it back

In my mind... Because I've been trying to build a supremely intelligent character who specializes in demonology and dark knowledge etc, etc. I found a couple ways to avoid the negative effects of the book. But from a DM perspective, to avoid gaming the system like I did as a player, I would make the book a supremely intelligent being who can read minds, speak, demand tributes, and other things.

Something I thought of, and maybe I'll put the book in my game like this, is the idea that the Book of Vile Darkness and the Book of Exalted Deeds are actually two sides of the same coin (because the B.E.D. seems highly underpowered compared to the B.V.D.). However, because of the potency of either book, the Elder Gods of my multi-verse put both the B.E.D. and the B.V.D. in eternal suspended animation in a secret location in the world. But, this animation can be broken. If both an evil character and a good character enter the Chamber of Balance and copy each other step for step to the books and recite their spells in the respective languages (High Celestial and Dark Speech), then grab the books at the same time, both books can be removed and let loose on the world. However, if a single action is misplaced, or only half of the equation is shown, the book opposite what the character(s) wanted lash out and destroy the unworthy. And in this world, the only way for a PC to learn High Celestial or Dark Speech, or at least the spell needed to free the intended book, is to sell your soul to an archangel for the spell, and to make a deal with both a Demonlord and ArchDevil for both your soul and body for both halves of the spell.

In my current campaign I'm actually using the book as a major plot piece. The PCs are villains, I let them spend the first 5 sessions as assassins in one of the major cities. However their leader goes missing and the next day, the entire city is subject to a mind altering spell that causes everyone to head to the castle. When they arrive there they find out that a powerful witch is using her magic to banish all of the evil characters. Before leaving they're all given spell tattoos, and told that they will die if they kill another person. They arrive at the top of a large structure, suffused with an insane amount of magic that keeps them from escaping. They have to make their way down through the dungeon, level by level, defeating the challenges on each floor. Each challenge is set up to test them as characters, trying to nudge them closer and closer to good. The backstory is that a group of adventurers found the Book of Vile Darkness and crafted this entire scheme in order to destroy it. The "Book Bearer" is also sent to the dungeon, and carries out the necessary evil acts against evil people. The members out in the real world are systematically sending evil people to the dungeon, as well as sending monsters. Time passes more quickly in the dungeon, so that while the other members are sending people, the Book Bearer has time to carry out the hundred years. The PCs arrived at the tail end, with only a month left before the Bearer is finished. If the party can prove themselves redeemable, they can make it to the final floor and exit the dungeon. If they decide to continue with their nefarious ways, they have the chance to kill the Book Bearer (boss) and attain the Book of Vile Darkness before the entire tower is destroyed, along with everyone in it.

I would like to note that something I like about that book is "ritual to become a lich" because a lich has a CR of 21, same as a solar so if you have an ally(or item?) with True Polymorph you could turn a party member into a Solar I would assume that by the time you have your hand on a artifact like this book you would at least be close to a level nine spell.

Arthur DeLuca the Lich is overCRd, and when you are a player, what counts is your level not your CR, also the Lich in the MM is a Generic lv18 Human Wizard, a PC Lich would have everything he has except the Legendary Stuff like with the Vampire.

@AGrumpyPanda
@AGrumpyPanda 7 жыл бұрын
Undead are CR adjusted from class levels due to their specific mechanics. Assuming it works vaguely similar to Pathfinder, for monster manual entries there's a slight upwards adjustment because it's an undead- from what Rafael has stated it's a level 18 wizard with a 3-4 CR adjustment to account for being a Lich. A PC in the same circumstance, however, would still just be an 18th level wizard.

Arthur DeLuca In Pathfinder it's in the bestiaries, there isn't a "CR to PC level" conversion per se, creatures or creature templates have a base CR or CR adjustment respectively, with an NPC's effective CR being their class level -2 for NPC classes and -1 for PC classes.

I have actualy used this before in a game and it worked realitivly smoothly... Its not that hard to manage if you have the book require you to commit X evil acts of so&so severity before it will show you this or that evil this forces the players to commit to the book... and while there trying to unlock the properties of the book you can send guards, hags, and other consequences at them to take it from them so it really becomes a focal point of the campaign without becoming a nightmare to you... And if they should lose the book, it gives you a chance to introduce a new big bad into the mix who is now in possession of the book 😈

Good plot setup that can involve it without allowing it to be fully present & breaking things.

If the book can alter your alignment as a possible side effect I like the idea of a Lich totally fucked now he's Chaotic good. The Book should be respected by both the living and the dead, as a legitimate danger to operate. High Necron Voltage! It un-does. To be attuned to it you must undo and it is not good so if you are willingly good you aren't attuned any more. That makes sense.
