I am an Icelander who have not been walking at all... used to do it as a kid out in the farm but nothing more than that. This spring i started walking and googleing about hiking and hiking tips and found you. I booked myself on a hiking trip to go the Laugavegur trail with a group. It had included a guide, sleeping in huts and a driver who drove our stuff between cabins every day. Well money spent. (Reccomend that for everyone ;) ) So I walked this way probably a week later then you with my 8year old! While i was there i got a snapchat memory since last year. In that memory i said that my hip said stop and would only let me walk 1km(0,6miles) since I had worn myself out by walking 6km(3,7miles) 2 days earlier! And now I was hiking 55km(34mile) trail. And some part of it is thanks to you ❤️ You inspire me to live my dreams rather than just dreaming at home 😊❤️ I am kinda sad that I could not meet you while you were here in Iceland. But hopefully I will meet you on a random hike one day 😊❤️ Thank you for everything

That first night made a compelling case for a double walled tent! Might be part of the reason I never see single walls in the Canadian Rockies. That weather feels a little too familiar ☺️

@@layne4376 In one of her other videos she said this tent was not the best choice for this trip but still looks like a very cool and unique place to go hike and visit. Looks like at 8:10 there are a lot of 4 season dome mountaineering tents but definately anything designed for higher winds would be ideal.

Great minds buddy. You actually said the term for that in a roundabout way. When I was in Deadhorse Alaska at Prudhoe Bay, during winter solstice, the sun never came up while I was there for one week. But with a sky full of stars and moon, and the northern lights going crazy, what unfolds is a snowy, barren, windblown landscape of stark beauty.

Stunning video, can't wait for the next two. I hiked this in July but stayed in the huts. I'm 65 and it was my first trek. We went straight to Alftavatn on our first day, just took a lunch break at Hrafntinnusker. Desolate place well done for surviving that night. It's definitely an out-of-this-world place, I truly loved the whole experience but we did hit lucky with our weather conditions.

Just returned from Iceland myself - it truly is a Majestic, wondrous, amazing place!! They say, in Iceland, it's not the snow or the cold that'll get you in Iceland, it's the wind. I think you're video demonstrates that perfectly! While it does get cold, the wind is absolutely relentless. I'm so jealous you got to see the volcano! It stopped erupting literally a week before I arrived. I really wanted to photograph it and do some drone work there. Still amazing to see the lava fields, but dang! What a place! Thank you for the video! Awesome content, as always!! Hope you enjoyed your time in Iceland, and may it be the first of many trips and trails in Iceland!!

That's a pretty cool video! My wife and I did the trail a few weeks ago. It was our first overnight / "long distance" trail. We weren't allowed to sleep at Hrafntinnusker (the windy place in this vid), because the warden had to close the campsite due to too extreme weater, so we hiked all the way to Alftavatn instead. The trail was an amazing experience! Your videos (equipment reviews, tip, tricks etc.) helped us quite a lot in getting ready for the trail, so thanks a lot!
