Me, 12 years old, watched this movie in theater. Listened the ending song till the lights of the theater were on. After that I still stay at my seat because I didn't want to leave. This is my fav Ghibli movie.

Just watched this movie and absolutely loved it. It has such a perfect cohesion with its writing, characters, adventure, themes, beautiful artwork and music. This is the kind of movie Disney desperately attempts to emulate but never lands.

When I was like 6, I visited a friend and his parents put this movie on for us to watch. We watched while playing, so I couldn't pay attention to it from beginning to end, but it was in the back of my mind for like the next 3-4 years. I only knew "Laputa" and wanted to watch it, so I asked my parents to get me the DVD. I watched it like 20 times. I still love it. It's just such a beautiful mix of action, adventure, steam punk fantasy and human relationships, imo.

最後のパズーとムスカが銃を構えた時　パズーは空砲でハッタリをしていて　ムスカも3分あげるふりをして　実は弾切れだった銃をリロードしていたのがすごいよね

Hi I felt your reactions were more genuine than a lot of reacting videos and I love how you get into each scene! I thought to tell you one tidbit about Laputa. When they see the robot on the castle for the first time there are little yellow and brown striped animals running around his shoulders. They are called fox-squirrels and it's a nod to the movie Nausicaa of the valley of wind which introduced these animals, and show they are in the same Ghibli universe👍👍 I hope you do a reaction to Nausicaa their very first film that started it all. This movie has the best characters, literally everyone is charismatic and amazing to watch! Even Muska (especially Muska tbh)

My absolute favorite ghibli / anime move, I may be a little biased, because I look at it with the memories of a little child, but it still means a lot to me and I make sure to watch it at least once a year. I had a blast watching my annual rewatch of Castle in the Sky alongside you and it was such a great time to be able to experience your first time watching this movie! I hope that you'll have a similar feeling of painful/happy nostalgia rewatching this movie in a couple years like I do, because this movie is such a cinematic treasure and I hope it will never be forgotten for as long as mankind exists.

I really appreciate that you've watched the original language version. Executives in Disney thought "Bah, kids can't tolerate all these silences" so they asked the original composer to write some more pieces (which aren't too bad )for their dub, but this, this is the definitive version which the director himself approved. Also, the dub version has some really lamely interpreted lines if you compare them to the original, especially this; Sub: You cannot live apart from the earth! Dub: We cannot live without love! Dear God...

How I cried at the first viewing. They destroyed Laputa because there will always be people who need a lot of power to capture a widow, and not for a peaceful life. Laputa residents, realizing this truth, left, leaving everything they had so that someday bad people would not use this resource. In addition, Miyazaki is against war and a socialist. Me too. Great reaction ! My favorite ghibli movie since I was 7 or something. Fun fact, there are way too many similitudes between One Piece and this movie, and I love it. The 700 hundred year of lost history ? The good pirates ? Bad government ? A will of Laputans kinda like the will of D ? A treasure that is actually linked to a greater thing, like civilisations exctinct ?? yeah, One Piece is basically a long version of this movie and I love it ! Also, notice how at the beginning of the movie they basically tell you what happended with Laputa castle, with the opening credit. There is a great theorist channel (french) called Mont Corvo who made a video about Miyazaki's and Oda's work !

2:04:31 thinking on the ending shot of the now ruined Laputa reaching closer to the moon, if our understanding of how advanced their technology is, I believe the whole place’s atmosphere is artificially maintained as in the Laputans & the others like Sheeta, Pazu, the pirates & the military could breathe & walk around no problem with no air breathing equipment or a giant physical dome. I think that artificial atmosphere is still being maintained that will allow the critters that last gardener bot is taking care of to continue living even outside earth’s atmosphere. 😭

There's a fan theory that all of the Studio Ghibli films are set in the same universe, and I believe in it. But I have idea of what has happened in this anime's universe and the order of events with every movie. Here's my theory: In a time before humans, magic and ancient creatures once ruled the Earth (as hinted at in anime films like "Princess Mononoke" and "Howl's Moving Castle"). However, the age of Humans came, and magic started to phase out, with many magical creatures dying off, including beings who were revered as gods and demons. By the time of the events of "Princess Mononoke", these gods and demons were nearly wiped out, with a short few remaining. - The events of "Tales From Earthsea", "The Tale of the Princess Kaguya", "The Red Turtle", & "Princess Mononoke" take place during this unknown era (although "Mononoke" does happen sometime between the 1330s to the 1570s). By the dawn of the 20th century, only some magic and lower magical creatures remain, although some taking refuge in somewhat pocket dimensions (like in "Spirited Away"). The world of technology and human civilization is at a high, some humans encounter the world magic, including magical creatures, and are affected by it (like as in "Porco Rosso" & "Spirited Away"). - A huge majority of Studio Ghibli's films take place during this time period of the 1900s to the 2000s, with the exception of "Castle In the Sky" & "Nasuicca: Of the Valley of the Wind" In the decades or hundreds of years since the dawn of the 21st century, an event known as Seven Days of Fire occurs (highly implied to be nuclear war) and human civilization is destroyed, causing a post-apocalyptic world to occur for the next one thousand years. During this era, toxic plants and trees grow (most likely from the radiation of nuclear weapons), and animals mutate to larger beings. - The events of "Nasuicca: Of the Valley of the Wind" take place at the end of this thousand year era.
