The case never went forward because Lochte refused to return to Brazil for an official deposition. His buddies just confessed, got a slap on the wrist and went back home.

Lochte got away and went back to the US to do damage control. The judge asked Lochte to give an official deposition to ascertain his side of the story and be done with this nonsense that he created. He refused and his lawyers stonewalled Brazilian authorities for four years until the statute of limitations ran out in 2020. End of the day, he got his buddies arrested for being a dumbass and was too cowardly to ever admit he was lying.
