If you've ever worked in an office, used municipal buildings or lived in a city, chances are, you already know what public notices are - bland, dull, usually complaining and rarely funny posters that tell us somewhat useful information about all kinds of things. For a prankster, though, street signs or a note out in public is an easy opportunity to get a guaranteed audience for their smart jokes. When the note is a passive-aggressive complaint about something petty, the urge to give an appropriately hilarious response or make an office prank out of it must be downright irresistible!

One day I used the microwave at work to make rice for lunch. It involved the water and rice being in there for 10 minutes. When I took it out I didn't want to risk getting burned taking it to the sink to dump it out so I set it on the counter. A coworker immediately went to move it and got a burn. She started screaming that I should have put some type of a warning on it. The next time I made rice I did the exact same thing but I posted a cautionary sign that said...Warning, Grace; boiling water is hot.

My old office used really cheap paper towels in the bathroom that would tear. I posted a sign - “Towels are fragile - Please dry your hands before taking a towel.” Ppl went nuts! LOL

During morning break, a colleague was called to the phone. He left a note beside his coffee: "I spat in this, AB". On his return he saw an addendum: "so did I, CD".

The toilet (bathroom) one reminded me of the sign in a cubicle in the men's room at a workplace some years ago. An irate cleaner (janitor), fed up with having to deal with disgusting toilet bowls had put: "Do not be in such a rush, look behind & use the brush". (Clean up your mess in other words) However, the office wag had added: "I looked behind & used the brush, but found it quite a caper. If you could see the rash it's left, you'd say "GO BACK TO PAPER". I went back to my work desk still laughing. Made my day!

Oftentimes, whenever I see signs like these posted in buildings that I'm working in, I'm very tempted to add snark. Snark flows deeply within my soul, so I enjoyed this video immensely.

Once at my former workplace they had a dry erase board on the wall across from the managers office. The board said: What needs fixed: And for a while people would write some things that needed fixed and then one person wrote "everything," and then something I can't quite remember about how awful the store and company was. It stayed like that for days.

Showing my age here, but I have to add one more. Back in my working day, someone posted a tiny little sign on the bottom of the stall door in the bathroom. Leaning forward enough to be able to read it....Smile, your on Candid Camera.

Sars-Cov-2 concerned me, but does not scare me:- we all gotta die sometime, & sometimes it aint gonna be peacefully in sleep; meh, I was in the back of an ambulance laughing with medics whom, tbh, didn’t expect me to live, neither did my admin that visited me 3 days later. I got my chance several years ago to leave a witty response. I work at a casino, and our card tables had little plaques with an identifying number on them. One particular poker table was designated "SG-1 (for Shotgun poker table #1). Card games were over for the evening and I was cleaning the room. I got a small piece of paper, wrote "Stargate" on it and taped it above the plaque. Hopefully some sci-fi fan got a kick out of it!
