It takes a huge team effort to open Château de Purnon the public for the Journées du Patrimoine. This year we share with you for the first time the ups and downs of preparing for the most important weekend of the year for the Château.

1200 visiteurs, c'est pas mal pour une première Journée du Patrimoine à Verrue. Souvent les gros projets de rénovation ou de reconstitution du patrimoine commencent à emballer le public dès lors qu'ils commencent à projeter un début de projet abouti, comme une toiture ou des murs neufs. A partir de là, les médias TV, radios et les réseaux sociaux s'emparent du sujet et c'est l'effet boule de neige. Mais auparavant, il faut toute l'énergie, l'organisation et peut être aussi le réseau d'influence qui permettent de mener à bien des chantiers à cette échelle. Bravo à vous Felicity et Tim pour vos œuvres au bénéfice de ce magnifique domaine.

Yes! of course, the ovens need to be heated slowly up to temperature after being left for such a long time....all the damp in the stone needs to come out slowly. Good things take time....exciting though!

Was the band playing the Geelong Football Club theme song? Give yourselves a slap on the back - amazing teamwork. The community has really embraced you. I’m confused about something. Do you and your husband own the chateau and work with historians to bring it back or does the historical society own it and you are in charge of the project. I think you own it and have been granted money by the historical society so they are really hands on.

@ I really must go back on all my KZfaq channels and rewatch the first videos because of how much of it has more of a reference now because we can see more of your chateau and video style. I completely forgot that you were not French. I also forgot that you want to have your wedding there and that gives me something to look for any clues you may have commented about. Your chateau is an amazing historic monument to our past and seeing how careful you are to make it authentic to its past is amazing to watch. I know remodeling is so hard but add to that the rating on the house being at the top will make things move at a turtle’s pace but the end of the project you will have accomplished a masterpiece.

it is a weekend that is about sharing patrimoine however thanks to the boulangerie, the boutique and the wine bar we are able to raise some important funds for the restoration

Hi Nelly so sorry to hear about for lovely dog. Truffe is a cross between an Australian Sheepdog and a Lagotto. The Lagotto’s are used for truffle hunting here and her mother is a truffle dog who fell for the charms of the neighbour’s Australian Sheepdog 🤣 She’s an absolute delight with a lot of energy so if you were thinking of this breed you’ll need lots of space for them to run and play! 😘
