Who is Ron Spomer
For 44 years, I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion - the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me - from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, become an integral part of our ecosystem, and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I've seen the beauty that everyone should see and survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish, or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.

I remember the days of paper licenses and tags. Now we tag/check them on our phones before we start to drag them.

In my 20 years of hunting I've never had a paper tag, always been a sticker. But now we gotta report our kills on some app.

I remember me and my brother being so hungry we stole my dads truck and his turkish mauser, killed a deer iron sights, got caught by the game warden. He knew us. We told him why we did it and he said "go home right now and have it packed in the freezer asap". Good man

I've forgotten my knife , my drag rope , and my TP just not all at the same time. Don't ever carry your doe in heat and rolaids in the same pocket

We don't have "tags" in Mississippi. We just buy our license and that's it.

Good advice Ron. We here in Mississippi have an almost 4 month hunting season. The reason being is that our rut is spread out so wide because our Winters are so mild. Mississippi has the densest deer herd per square mile than any other state. We are on the honor system. No tags, no nothing. On our 1000 acre farm, we are encouraged to harvest at least 25 does.

That’s sounds beautiful and awesome. Does Mississippi allow out of state hunting? Meaning are people from out of state allowed to hunt or do they have to move there to hunt.

@@danoosemcgriddles5052 You just have to buy an out of state hunting license. One is a 3 day pass and one is all season..I dont know the cost. Google MDWFP.

Even in the bottoms out in the sticks you can't call anybody, no service, I still put a tag on it. Just incase some asshat says it was his deer and it just ran over

I buy all my tags on a app on my phone and everything from the tags to my hunter conservation number is on there

Now that we can telecheck our tags it’s important to bring your phone. Mostly so you can call people if something happens or if you need the help of someone else to retrieve the deer.

Grew up very rural. ....never got a hunting or fishing license. Ate many many freshwater fish and about sixty whitetails. I'm done at 63. Never got caught either. I felt that it was my right. I lived out here.

It is your right. People just ruined it for everyone. People making money off of hunting and basically exploiting the system resulted in overhunting. So they had to do something to keep the system somewhat stable. You killing stuff on your property is still fine though

Do your own processing,it's not that difficult unless you're nit picky about certain cuts .Even then some study on you tube should get you through it.

What the law does not know, will not hurt them. But just be respectable to the animal numbers yourself. Don't over hunt when your freezer is still full.

Won’t hurt the law but it does hurt the population for sure. You takin an extra one isn’t catastrophic but everyone taking a few extras even if it’s not that much is the whole reason for limits

How hard would it be for a Brit to go to usa and then go on a hunting trip? Granted don’t really have firearms over here so have only even shot a .45 usp about 20 shots and a bolt action carbine about 25 shots. Both in the same session in Australia.

Pretty sure all you need is a valid passport and a place to hunt and you can get a hunting permit.

@@georgemcarthur488 it’s annoying that people over here just don’t like the idea of firearms and thus wouldn’t want them to be legal. But no one care about people owning cars, knifes and other items that can be dangerous. Because most people are normal. Police, politicians and criminals all have guns but the law abiding cit doesn’t :/

It wouldn't be hard at all, depending on the state. In most states, all you would have to do is buy a non-resident license, after attending a brief hunters safety course. Almost anywhere you chose will have tons of public land, and private guided hunt opportunities, depending on your budget.

@waynemattson9143 Oklahoma.. when you buy a lifetime hunting license.. never again will you have to buy a license or deer or turkey tags .. I got mine for Christmas when I was 8.. only thing I have to buy is a federal duck stamp

You legally have to wear at least one article of orange clothing in my state during rifle season. Some places require 2 articles of orange clothing. Bow season is the only time here you can legally not wear orange

Deer can’t see orange anyways. To them canouflage and orange is the same color like a greyish. Much safer wearing orange and it wont stick out to deer

Sport hunting is killing animals and taking a picture. They do not take the animal to eat. Your average hunter today, does not waste what they can eat. Even the stuff that does not get eaten by the hunter, gets eaten by something else.
