Duane and I attempt the most crucial part of the entire DIY house build in Alaska... This is the largest project I've ever tackled and I'm feeling the pressure...
I spent years thinking up a cozy cabin/home design that would be dreamy and functional, and now it's finally happening! Join me as Sam (of Ridgetop Builders) and I build my slightly ridiculous looking home...

Just have to say a big THANK YOU, Timmy, for actually coming down off the roof today for pictures and a chat with my ex-husband. I didn't wanna say anything but he is terminally ill and the meeting and the pics meant the world to him even though I said it was for the kids in Cali. He loves your videos and it truly lifted his spirit! Thanks again. We'll be watchin the progress. It's lookin GREAT!!

Poor spiral staircase vendor, they're going to have to eat this one. Wonder if the missing pole assembly has been misplaced by the transport company? Might be laying around somewhere within the transport system. Hope that is resolved quickly for you! Oh well, once the roof and windows are complete, you"ll be able to make hay on the inside! Keep dreamin' about the day that you'll light a fire in the stove, kicking back and enjoying the view! Going to be awesome! 👌

Sometimes the shipping for such is astronomical and they generally state such. It is more than likely an easy attainable pipe from someone locally. 21' piece of 2" pipe probably a hundred bucks or so. Shipping..... over that.

You should really do one coat of stain after the siding and trim is up. That way the nail holes also get filled with stain.

Timmy, you might be able to put a temporary tarp awning off the stair tower roof. Use some 2x4 studs as support poles and than hang the tarp off the backside of the deck to allow you to work under the tarp in the rain. We did that when we did the rubber membrane roof on our sundeck on our pioneer era, Oregon home.

I missed the premiere! Tim, it is great that you have these tradesmen who not only are helping, but also teaching you these skills that are helpful in life! How many square feet is your roof deck? You could hold some small gigs up there...eh? I think using the spare room for a rental is a great idea for income. I hope the rest of the build goes smoothly with no more missing components, etc. Take care of yourself in that rain and thank you for sharing this project with us all!

All of this for a nice place to stay with a view to wake up to everyday of your passion high up in the mountains to hard work paid off throughout everything around you. Try to look at it as a get to rather than a have to in life. I see that in your videos and its appreciated that you are a humble man just wanting us to enjoy it with you. Windows next maybe?? Make sure they are flashed and caulked really well. Smear caulk all over and around the flanges. Then siding. You are definitely well on your way Timmy!! Your house shaping up very nicely!! If you can somehow manage to get the exterior buttoned up before winter. Then you can take your time with the interior. And your interior will be protected from the elements. Food for thought!! Have fun. Be safe. And enjoy Happy trails 👣!!! 😊!!!

Sure is gloomy & rainy there what a pain to work in but... maybe it's packing your foundation good for you?? The big picture windows will be so nice. In some countries they have an opening lid on their floors where the plumbing pipes are so before it takes it down so it's easy to do a rotor rooter (spelled wrong maybe) through if your thinking about kids in the near future ;) 😊. It's going to be a gorgeous home when it's done. Your birds are going to love ❤️ their new pad. Hope 🙏 you get some sunshine soon. 🌞 Take care 😊

@TruckHouseLife make sure to review proper DWV techniques. Certain fittings should only be used in vertical and not on their backs to prevent improper drainage. Sanitary Wyes and Tees. Venting is also important for proper drainageevem if you have to use AAV devices instead of a stack through the roof. Add a cleanout where you can if you ever have to snake the main branches etc.
