This is why getting very good at swiveling from left to right hip while playing open guard and changing your foot position and grips is so important. Sitting on the left or right hip only is a good way to get your guard passed. HQ is a lot harder for OP to obtain when you are good at hipping out and changing your foot positions in relation to OP's body. HQ is hard to achieve for the OP if as soon as he tucks the leg between his legs you have already hipped out...and stretched your leg out and attempting to push on his knee to off balance him. Most of his leverage is when your own knee is bent and he has been able to sit down on it. That goes away when you have hipped out and extended your leg. Again, important to be able to swivel from left to right hip and change your own foot positions quicky on his body.

Watching the game management of high-level players, finishing from the back mount seems to be the best method. Are there any videos that contain this method?,, The method of catching the back of an opponent recovering while taking side mount during a guard pass.
@JonThomasBJJ3 ай бұрын
Finishing for the back is definitely one of the most powerful finishing methods in jujitsu but you have to be opportunistic. It depends on how you’re part of the fans if they stay on their back on the floor defending, then you need to finish and mount or side of course if they turtle you can progress the back so I would say you need all options.

@JonThomassBJJ is there a way that you can cut this video in pieces? Like maybe adding time stamps in so we can break this down into smaller chunks?
@barrett52293 ай бұрын
Best way I’ve found is to watch one section and stop. Drill that for a while and test it with resistance. When it sticks add the next part. If I go in and try to drill multiple options I generally don’t get any of it to stick. I’ll even go so micro as to get to headquarters and get the outside pants grip. That will be my “win” for the roll and I try to do it over and over

Grab it with your left hand and step over it with your left leg. I'm guessing the reason people often grab the lapel with their right hand is it might make that leg easier to stuff when the opponent is pulled up into a sitting position.
