Catching survivors in DBD can be tough, especially if the team is good. But oftentimes, killers are a bit of their own problem. So today, we discuss a quick tip on HOW to catch survivors in Dead By Daylight.

It's so easy to get lost in the sauce even after passing the 1000 hour mark. trying to mindgame an impossible power hit, spinning like a top around a loop they clearly see me at, I'm guilty of all of this and I'm sure it's costed me games. Thanks for the reminder

Yeah, honestly my brother is like this and it was annoying at first, but I tried to ignore it. He would get mad when he was chasing a survivor for a minute or so and then get mad when 2-3 gets pop. Then say that they're rushing the gens and gets all pissed. I tried to give him some advice that he needs to know when to stop chasing and how to apply pressure. But he didn't take it🤷‍♀️. Same goes when he's a survivor and gets downed easily. Blames it on the game rather than his skill.

Also know what side of the tile to chase on. Chasing on a long side of the tile is just going to lead you to seppuku. Force the survivor to chase on the short side. Also as said don't try and mind game at tiles like the one on haddonfield. Force the drop and move on to a hopefully better tile.

Yep. Just faced a Huntress who said we were a sweaty SWF cause they tunneled the Laurie all game instead of applying gen pressure with the Ruin they had. Two of us even stopped to take hits for Laurie, but the Huntress refused to stop and reload to down three of us who were injured and doing gens. IDK. Both sides are equally frustrating, but like damn. I saw the 4th person cleanse two totems and open two chests and we still got the gens done.

Keep in mind many ppl are bringing heat from their last game. You likely got a person who was already pissed but became more pissed when he was chasing the Laurie. Laurie might have done something that they saw as shit talking. And then yall taking hits led to the entitlement arc to go into full swing. I see it happen all the time when I play surv. You spin and wait on a pallet? Camped. You loop shack too much? Camped. Take hits? Camped.

this is why i main Knight. fuck loops when i can make a guard patrol the loop for me, either forcing them to break off, take the speed boost from the hit or risk a sudo-expose hit.

You probably already knew this as a knight main but watch out when they try to go for windows and then not go for the window or palates They do that so you're AI waste time going to the window or palate and then going to them, It gives them time to go to the next loop knight can be countered but I wanted to give you this information just in case you didn't know So you could be ready for when you come across a cracked survivor or just someone who knows how to loop a Knight

I really enjoy the strategy of just holding w on survivors eating pallet after pallet after pallet until I finally decide to play smarter and then when the end game comes they have nothing to work with and the mind games are much more profitable. Use this with nemesis a lot just farm infection and pallets in the early game then slowly squeeze them out in the end

I agree sometimes i chase for hits. Keep pressure on people leave them for an easy down for later. You just have to have good game sense on which gens are the best for you to hold down.

You are absolutely correct killers must never leave there gens to go for a 10 second chase and 20 seconds to hook because that’s well enough time for survivors to finish 10 gens

⁠@@zeroprogressive holding a 3 gen would be meta regardless of how fast survivors do gens, holding a 3 gen isn’t a bad idea at all, if you play nice and give survivors lee way in any way they will often take it and run with it. There are some very strong survivor items that can make you feel powerless, but there are some very strong killer items as well, I think both should be nerfed, but don’t go saying the game is survivor sided so quickly just because survivors bring strong stuff and you don’t. You also have to consider this, when the match starts there are four healthy survivors, so that means when you get in chase, 3 survivors have no other objectives besides doing generators, once you hook the first survivor that all changes, that means a survivor has to get off gens to go for hook, and if you can chase another then they will have to get off gens and avoid you leaving a single survivor left. If you can maintain that pressure that means gen progress will be much slower for the rest of the game. The point of killer is minimizing the time of the early game where you have no pressure and creating pressure that forces survivors to do other things besides gens as much as possible. Sometimes you have to leave chase and find someone else in a worse spot, I see a lot of people complain about the game being survivor sided when they just tunnel vision on the first survivor they find and refuse to leave and then survivor takes them to strong structures where they don’t go down for a long time. Sometimes you are going to face good survivors that doesn’t mean that the game is survivor sided. Sometimes survivors bring really strong toolboxes that make the gens fly but unless you want to bring really strong addons and play very mean then yes, the survivors are going to have an advantage. That doesn’t mean the game is survivor sided it just means you aren’t doing as much to win as they are. I’m not saying it’s killer sided either, both sides can do some really nasty things to win and both sides have addons, items and perks that could be toned down. But before you call a game killer or survivor sided, analyze what mistakes you may have made and especially understand that some games aren’t going to go your way.

Overcommiting is a huge thing lately but I have also seen killers that won't commit for anything. There is a fine line but you are right, if you don't see a net benefit in a reasonable time frame split off. Some killers gen pressure can be applied by keeping survivors injured so splitting a chase to hit a healthy survivor is a good thing but you have to commit to 1 of them or keep ladder rolling. Perks will only carry survivors so far if you keep the pressure balanced though hooks and injures

I was just playing a game and I was chasing after one of the last two survivors. I felt like I was winning the chase but they only had like 1 gen to go so I cancelled the pursuit as I felt I should go check the one gen I hadn’t checked yet. When I got there I found the other survivor working on it. I ended up hitting him fairly quickly then he made a fatal mistake of running into that loop shack and I got him down. I spotted the other survivor nearby sitting instead of even picking up the body I chased them. Knocked her down and put her in the basement. By the time I did all of that the guy I knocked down earlier crawled away. Thankfully I found him. I thought I could make it to the basement with him but he made me get stuck on the wall too many time and broke free. He unhooked the girl and took the hit and started crawling again. I then hit her as she ran up the stairs. Problem was she ended up leading me across the map. I kinda got worried he was back in the basement crawling far away. I managed to hook her again and I then decided to go check the basement and see if he was still there. Ofc he wasn’t. Yet to my surprise he didn’t crawl too far. So I picked him up and finally hooked him in the basement. Point of the story is to not overcommit to one survivor especially when they only need one gen for gates.

As a killer main, and only with 4 days of play time in dbd as i started in November, I make a commitment to break pallets immediately. I've found that most survivors drop the pallet then like to continue the loop with it. I've found most get a little shook when you immediately break the pallet, and then they continue on to another pallet. As long as you are ablw to focus 3 generators and keep them together, I found this pallet breaking ateategy works well for endgame generator control when they want to loop you away from the gens.

You ain’t wrong. Because as they loop you, they plan their next strategy. Cut to the shit right away and it makes them come back to now and sometimes they’ll freak out and just run carelessly. Unless they’ve played for awhile and just know where all the pallets usually are. I honestly don’t know if I like playing killer or survivor better. I’m definitely better with killer, but I want to get good at 360 and looping killers. I can not for the love of me get the 360 turn town efficiently to utilize it. Frustrating as hell when you see your team mates do it, but you can’t lol.

@@gunlover5564 oh man I feel this heavily! I'm awful at survivor, but I would like to say I'm at least passable as killer. I got Iridescent 2 on my killer in December, but can't get to anything about Gold 4 with my survivor 😭🤣 but I FINALLY figured out the 360 mess. I play on PC, but I used controller because I've only had the PC about a year and haven't taught myself to game without the controller lol. Last night I turned my sensitivity for my camera on my controller up by about 20%. I IMMEDIATELY noticed a difference. I mean I played about 4 games as survivor last night, and managed to get a successful 360 on all of the games and on a few of them I got 2 or 3 360s. I found that for me, since I use controller, turning the sensitivity up like that helped A LOT. And I found that while doing the 360 with your left analog stick (or the wasd on keyboard) doing a 360 with the camera itself is what makes the whole thing come together. Before I was going 360s with just the character movement stick, but now that I turned the sensitivity up on my camera and started 360ing with that at the same time, dude it actually works

Obliterating the pallets right away is the best mind game of them all because it doesn’t give them a chance to really plan their next move. Works for me. Every now and then I’ll get that guy that’s just played for forever and knows every inch of every map.

I don't really have this issue I mainly play Freddy and oni but I feel the chase is going longer then 20-30 seconds I'll stop chasing entirely to patrol gens and win 90% of the time some survivors build different tho ong so save the good ones best for last 😂

I make sure to tell this to new player's i'm teaching the game because a lot of people don't understand this. You should really never expect a hit from the double back, do it to force the pallet sooner and also zone the survivor.

You can ignore this if you are a ranged killer. Keeping people at low hanging walls can get you cheeky hits if You can get them into what I like to call "loop brain" or then you can hit him with a cheeky hatchet/harpoon/judgment. Takes about 20 seconds to put people into loop brain.

There’s a problem overcommitting and under committing alike. I’ve had some killers over commit to a survivor, even first chase, loosing 2-4 gens in the process because they get so tunnel visioned that it becomes the goal of catching, and killing, that particular survivor. However I’ve also had killers that will chase for a minute, leave to another survivor, and repeat until all 5 gens are done with little hooks and injures. There’s a balance but some just can’t overcome it

There's killers that make a lot of mistakes this is definitely one of them You've mentioned Though its survivor sighted there are a lot of killers that don't look back on their mistakes I've used both for a while (7 years) I can honestly say if it's the big 3 then its killer sided Although I don't know where to put Chucky yet I have to use him more to get a full analysis It might be the big 4 soon Also is definitely great for beginners that are just starting on killer for sure

Be mindful of your red stain. It's an early warning sign that you're doubling back. Also maintain gen pressure. I've worked on gens with the killer hyper focused on their target and I can just keep on repairing without much worry because I can tell they're focused on the down. And be aware of gen placement. Protecting the gen in the corner isn't going to win you much. If the last 3/4 gens are close together, it can be nearly impossible to win as survivor.

That’s why I main Legion because if there is a healthy survivor I’m chasing and he’s like really good at the game I just put him or she in deep wound to get that health state and then I drop Legion is a really Hit and Run playstyle killer

The game is survivor sided, if you play "right" even what you're talking about here is 100% a recipe for failure. Sometimes you need to walk away but sometimes you have to commit to a chase. Its very nuanced and changes depending on a million different circumstances, unlike survivor which changes based on only a couple of factors since you play against most killers the same way. Now if you play "mean", well if you know you know. Also not only is this game survivor sided its the least survivor sided its ever been. I'll let you figure out what that means

As a survivor main, if you have been looping for 45 seconds to a minute with no progress or end in sight LEAVE. The only way you will come back from a 3 minute chase is if the other survivors are all solo queue and just hiding not doing anything

Tip: have a fov seizure and violently and randomly shake your camera around, this will confuse the survivor. Will it get you a hit? Probably not.

breakdown, boil over, updated sabo, made for this and boons that allow non stop self reviving, yes the game is very healthy. while you are right, some killers do overextend chases but the fact that gens ONLY take 90 seconds base with one person, that margin is heavily reduced with perks, addons and even an additional survivor. i’m not shaming survivors for doing their objectives, it’s just too easy to do them and with all these killer counter tech, it’s gotten even harder. not to mention the existence of “bully squads” shows are survivor sided the game really is which people lack to see. as a killer you can only apply so much pressure but how can you apply it if 2 gens pop in the first 2 minutes of the game?

Then 3 gen the first 2 gens are fast but the 3 is slower also bully squad lose most of their game because no one is fixing the gen

Game as of today, is killer paradise, game was never so generous with killers like these last patchs, I always get 3k or 4k and im nowhere near a good killer.

I think the game is survivor sided tbh. At any give moment I can get on and win 7 out of 10 games. I escaped 4 times back to back yesterday. It’s not very hard to lead a killer on a minute long chase and by the time he hooks me 2-3 gens pop. And then rinse and repeat.

I've been playing dbd (mostly on and off) for about 4, maybe 5, years. I think that the game is in a pretty good state the way it is now, gen kicking perks have been nerfed a lot. Many old meta survivor builds have been reworked to be more fair/nurfed as well. I think a lot of people just like to complain in the dbd community just for the sake of complaining (not talking about people giving genuine criticism).

If you are the killer = survivors can run 6 laps and drop the pallet on you no problem, if you are the survivor = you can barely run 2 laps and get knock down before reaching the pallet. Is there wind in the game or what? 🤔

It's the entitlement in the comments for me. Some people cant fathom that they just arent that good (surprising, when people are like "The game is survivor sided! Thanks for the tips for a begginer killer tho" 😚😅 Thats just it, you're new at it lol people with more knowledge and experience are gonna outplay you. Game is pretty balanced, depending on the perks you use and if you use them correctly, and you have to be good at hiding/looping as a survivor, mind games, map RNG, lots of factors come into play in a match. Stop making excuses for yourself and learn from your mistakes. Literally, you have to get gud 💪😂
