This was a tough one! Loads of effort for one photo but it was worth it ! I know the audio isn’t that great in this video at times but I don’t re do my videos they’re raw and unscripted. I like to keep them that way. ❤

As a former Endurance Motorsport photographer I can relate to this so much. Hours of planning and framing, getting the settings right, failing a bunch of times until you take that 1 photo that you just KNOW is the one you've been out there for. Watching this video brought me back to those moments and put a smile of joy and pride back on my face. Thank you for this story and congrats on that absolute epic shot. 1 in a million, but it's registered for life!

This photo is so epic. You ignored the rules, broke the common strategies, and took a unique shot from a unique location. Your persistence prevailed, nice work. I could totally see that vertical crop at 6:44 being an F1 video game cover or magazine cover.

Great story behind the shot. I'm sorting through 4,000 shots from a hillclimb event. Same as you I was shooting really slow shutter speeds, with resulting failure rates. But then I come across a sharp car amongst all the smears and it's all worthwhile! Persistence and backing yourself gets the unique images.

I went to Baku last week and took some crisp shots at 1/100 70-105mm mainly. The key isn’t really just about the exposure time only but also your focal length which you didn’t mention. If you are at the roof, it should be more difficult or you need a lot more luck

Hey man, nice video! I was inside the event over the weekend with my sister and we joked about people watching from the random rooftops to take photos so it feels full circle that someone was the whole time. I was trying to shoot 1/40th a bit earlier up the straight and felt I was somewhat struggling at that lower speed so to see a 1/25th is super impressive.

Really enjoyed the content mate! I love the "keep going and keep trying" message as it really is something we should all try and do more. Often we give up at the first difficulties or whenever a challenge is presented we tend to assume it can't be done and there's no point in trying. And not only you said this, but you also demonstrated this with an example you experienced first hand - whereas you could have simply not done any video on F1 just cause you didn't get a ticket. Nothing in life will always work out the way we planned it, but it's important to always give it a shot!

That is an awesome shot! Well done on your perseverance. I remember going to the first Adelaide F1 GP in 1985, and I actually walked all over the track and asked the stand marshalls whether I could go up to all the Gold seating and other level stands and take shots from hundreds of different vantage points, even the VIP areas. So lucky they let me do that because in later years security was tightened considerably and you couldn't go outside of your designated ticket area. If you never try, you never get the opportunity. I got shots of Ayrton Senna blasting past me from only a few feet away. Sadly, my photo album of all my shots was lost in a move years ago - Ah, the sad old days of non-digital photography! :)

No its in camera blur. Panning shot with slow shutter speed + fast car far away and if you have luck you get similar shot.
@loganjohnston6651
@loganjohnston6651 Жыл бұрын
@@piotrbaranowski1 I understand how panning shots work. But take a look at the wheels. With that much blur on the surroundings the wheels would at least have gone a full rotation during the duration of the shutter, yet there is a gap in the yellow accent. The front and back of the car are always going to be very slightly blurry especially at longer shutter speeds as the perspective of the car is changing as you pan. This is going to be more apparent on wide shots but there is always going to be a bit of distortion which is not seen here.
@enesworx
@enesworx Жыл бұрын
THANK YOU! I thought I was the only one noticing! I'd love to see the RAW image in comparison. No hate, just genuinely interested
@piotrbaranowski1
@piotrbaranowski1 Жыл бұрын
@@loganjohnston6651 if you look close the car is not pin sharp and from that distance blur front vs rear is minimal. Tires yellow stripes can be "cut" by the fence closer to camera, maybe thats the illusion of faster shutter or maybe he faked it im not sure. Quality is low on YT. More story than foto itself.
@loganjohnston6651
@loganjohnston6651 Жыл бұрын
@@piotrbaranowski1 At 6:19 you can see some more real shots where the motion blur is less blurry and more imperfect. I think it is really quite obvious that his final shot is not real. It’s also a bit suspicious that he’s not showed the RAW like he usually does.

I remember I once saw a video about a person who claimed to have taken an impossible shot, they'd start babbling about how they the photo was taken and it was mostly "I was able to get this shot because my camera is expensive". Now, this photo definitely deserves such a title of it being imposible. It's not impossible because the camera you took it with is impossibly expensive, it's impossible because it requires real skills, patience, vision and HARD work to pull it off, yet the only requirement is a camera. Mad respect to you and the masterwork you pulled off!

as ex-motorsports photographer also, firstly well done. Then im wondering where your monopod was? panning that low and distance is the reason so many came out the way they did. Every little minute shake shows... my best pan to date was 1/8th in low light conditions. but nothing compared to how hard yours was.

What an incredible photo and story! I admire the effort you’ve put around it! And to think that I was happy with my panning shots of water skiers jumping at 1/320s on 400mm at Moomba Masters a month or so ago! :) I managed to get a ticket to the GP the second time they offered in February, but this year it was so packed, I only found a spot with an opening fitting just the car if I was lucky to get it in frame, because I cou;dn’t even see it coming, so I was using my hearing to prepare for a burst shot… Even focusing was a challenge! Again, great shot!
