🎦 "Yves Saint Laurent" is an exhilarating documentary that takes viewers on a captivating journey through the life of legendary French designer Yves Saint Laurent. Starting from his entry into the fashion industry in 1958, when he met his muse and business partner Pierre Bergé, the film offers a unique perspective on the life and creativity of this style icon.
The film's narrative immerses audiences in the world of luxurious fashion, uncovering the complexities and triumphs that accompanied Saint Laurent on his path to success. From his debut collection "Trapèze" to revolutionary designs like "Le Smoking" and "Saharienne," the film showcases how Saint Laurent's talent and passion intertwined to make him one of the most influential designers of the 20th century.
Beyond the glamorous spotlight of fashion, the film also delves into the more intimate aspects of the designer's life, including his struggles with depression, dependencies, and internal conflicts. Journeying through Saint Laurent's personal and professional challenges reveals his vulnerability and humanity, making his story even more compelling and inspiring.
"Yves Saint Laurent" is not just a portrait of an exceptional designer but also an exploration of the genius, passion, and the price one pays for their place in fashion history.

Obviously a genius of fashion. So creative, versatile, ahead of his time, innovative. An amazing artist. Opening up the world of fashion to everyone in an amazing revolution. He was a masterpiece. He is fashion at it's best, not some of the crazy "fashion" I see on today's runways, like people covered in "noodles", that is not fashion, it's lack of creativity and nonsense.

He was the reason I began to learn to sew... He had a 1967 collection that everyone copied two years later. He did costuming for one of my favorite Moliere plays but his clothes were incredible. If. you're lucky enough to find a piece he did prior to his retirement/death, grab it; it would be a heck of a financial investment.

The narrator says of Yves Saint Laurent, "His sensitive character drowned him in the depths of depression. " Video minute 1:56. Anyone would be sensitive to torture. That is why torture is against the law. Torture ruins our lives, destroys entire cities, breaks up families and hurts innocent people. Yves is a victim of the devil, and is a Saint.

You have many years wrong...for example Albert Elbaz was hired to design the Rive Gauche line after Gucci had bought the house and Monsieur Saint Laurent continued the Haute Couture collections until his retirement in 2002 which was also the end of the Haute Couture collections.

Love his work! Clearly a fashion genius. I do find it ironic however, that while he wanted to “free” women’s bodies with stunning clothing, we were forever left bound to the “ideal” that our bodies had to look like a 15yr old boy’s in order to be “beautiful”. Women have been starving themselves ever since.
