Wow that's an insane find! With the PSU upgrade and the RAM upgrade, all you'd have to do is add a 500gb NVMe and you could easily sell it for at least $500 even now in early 2024, with less than $300 total invested in the original PC plus the upgrades.

Do you think this sort of business could be profitable by selling brand new parts for pre built PCs? I was thinking it would be cool to do this, offering customer support, going for a premium "hand assembled" vibe for my brand. In your experience, would this work? Or do people just want a pc with used parts for cheapest prices?

In my personal experience, though im not elijah, is that people are either looking for budget, or a specific game/task they're trying to do. The new parts are usually only worth it if the pricing is too close to NOT. IE: usedd 6600 is $180, but new is $200 (I know its not accurate. lol) Boot drives and storage are the areas I always go new: unless the customer specifically asks for the best budget possible. But the majority of my sales for used/new mixed are in the $450-$700 range for smaller towns in Oklahoma, and surely different areas are going to have different economies.

@@boxbawks I was thinking that the marketing value of new parts appeals to users who typically buy outside of DIY, at least in my intuition. Though, to be fair, people on Facebook Marketplace are typically looking for used stuff anyway... So I guess flipping used parts is the best option? It just seems much easier to simply assemble using new parts.

@@Spork888 If you can manage it, by all means. I dont do just parts myself because of my area because people just want a working system that is reasonable priced for the performance. Ive actually had quite a few customers that DIDNT want rgb so they could save money. Its kinda like how different states have different pricing on vehicles. The demand has to be there to justify pricing and sales. TLDR; it just depends on your area imo. Its a good idea to have inventory by all means. Just test waters and go with whatever is consistent to your results.

offering customer support is a mixed bag to say the least-i have did this very thing built great pc and some lower end pc and sold very cheap like $200 (used Parts) less than if you put together yourself (New Parts) But the pc support gig Some people should not own a PC..like taking a hammer to dislodge the DP cord from the connector instead of squeezing the connector they tried to pull it out when the tab locks prevented this- it was to them "HAMMER TIME" They Smashed out the back I/O of the GPU and ripped the PCIE from the Motherboard then proceeded to tell me it was manufacture defect..LMAO
