That's why I often hated poker :/ it can be lot of fun until the ruthless variance gets to you.. @Pokergo maybe next year do a 1-time main event only subscription for 3 or 4 bucks. I have no interest in poker after dark, cash games, etc. etc. etc., so I'm not paying 20 bucks for a useless (for me) subscription. After the main event, I'm out. People in the comments are so result orientated. Griff was playing much wider ranges than usual, like 3-betting with 22 in a spot where he could have easily just defended. Or openraising 33/44 in early position at a full table. The turn call is completely understandable against someone who is playing out of line in a spot with 3 draws on the board, which he would have all played the same way as he did with the 9s. If you dont believe that Griff was out of line and very aggressive, just watch the first hand of heads up, where he tripple barreled with Q4o without hitting the board. Everyone who thinks this call was a mistake, should go back and play 1c/2c limits. Niklas has been more often in spots like that, than anyone else on the planet. He knows what hes doing. You should rather ask urself the question, what you are missing and why someone with that much experience plays the hand like that and try to understand it, instead of calling it a punt with ur low stakes online poker experience.

Astedt is clearly disgusted by his call. The guy played superb and is a superb player. All it takes is one mistake. There were so many tells Griff was stong also. Heavy breathing pre flop and that body language at 2:40 was such a massive tell. Im assuming he did not see either cus of his position in the table. Great hand anyways.

The way Griff has been playing and the raise, he must have put him in AQ, AK, A10 or any ace draw. I never had Astedt winning the main but Griff due to his luck to not bust in 18th and chip up to chip leader. Just shows you need a lot of luck in poker, otherwise Astedt would win hands down with his knowledge and solver use.

Astedt was very eager to call Griff and play pots with him, thinking he was the much better player and would out play him. Sometimes that will put you in a tough situation like this. Not a bad call by Astedt, but you're likely 60-40 at best here. Smart by Griff to not try and outplay the more accomplished player and try to get all the chips in and take him out on a huge hand. The longer the game goes, the likelier it favors Astedt.
