Here's what MLB was like 10 years ago... From Tragedy to Scandal and Record-Breaking moments, the 2013 Baseball Season had EVERYTHING. Such as:
The storybook 2013 World Series with the Boston Red Sox led by David Ortiz. Jose Fernandez rookie season. Yasiel Puig takes the league by storm. Mariano Rivera Retires. ARod makes history in Biogenesis suspension. The Angels sign Josh Hamilton to a mega-deal. Tim Lincecum throws his first no-hitter. The Pirates finally reach the playoffs after 21 years. An All-Time MVP battle between Mike Trout and Miguel Cabrera.

Fun fact about the Red Sox championship... While it was their third championship since breaking the curse of the Bambino, it was the first time they had clinched a world series victory in front of the home fans for the first time in 95 years. Imagine being there for that history! Also, David Ortiz was gifted his own championship ring for being the World Series MVP. To my knowledge, that's the first and only World Series MVP ring that exists.

Yeah, it's sad thinking what Jose Fernandez could have been. Also have to wonder where the Marlins would be now if Jose Fernandez was still alive. He was going to be their franchise player. Maybe the Marlins would've found a way to hold on to either Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, or Marcell Ozuna

He had the talent but chances are higher that his career would've been plagued by injuries like many other modern pitchers and he'd never get close to HoF.

I must admit, I had a bit of a lapse in following baseball around this time, and while this video shows nothing insane or out of the ordinary to me, this was a really well-edited and put together video. It puts a missing puzzle piece into my head as a big baseball fan and I will take this with me and watch it again.

Thanks for posting this. 🙂Nice work. 2013 in Major League Baseball was memorable for a lot of the highlights mentioned, but it definitely was the 'Boston Strong' Red Sox that were THE story of 2013. After finishing last in 2012 the Sawx quietly revamped their lineup & yet still, not much outside the clubhouse was expected of them. Yet they rose back to the top of the division, it can be said that the events following April 15th of that year truly galvanized both the ballclub & the city of Boston. They rallied following the harrowing events of that week in mid-April( the Boston Bruins in the NHL did their part as well with an exciting playoff run before falling to the Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Final ), but it was the Red Sox, that whole season, that helped lift the spirits of the folks in Boston. It was a turnaround year for both the organization and the city following the Marathon Bombing tragedy. And they capped it all off by winning the World Series at home, at Fenway Park, for the 1st time since way back in 1918. And days later, during the parade in downtown Boston, they actually stopped the parade at the very site were the bombings occurred for a Moment of Silence for the victims of the bombing tragedy, before resuming the parade. It was quite the scene for sure. It perfectly capped off the year in which the city of Boston was wounded by tragedy, before the Red Sox helped the city bask once again in triumph with their championship season. #BostonStrong

Man as a jays fan, 2013 was definitely a crazy year. Very disappointing for us lol. We had legit everyone underperform. Of course we had Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and RA Dickey, but also Josh Johnson, JP Arencibia, Brandon Morrow, Melky Cabrera to name a few more were all so disappointing. They were all supposed to be superstars or at least broken out, but they were either injured or flat out sucked. Jays were favorites to win the division, and came 5th.

I'm a Jays fan too, and turns out the previous offseason was more compelling than the Jays' 2013 season actually turned out to be. They got off to a brutal start, they teased us briefly by winning 11 straight, then came crashing back down soon as that win streak ended. It was an awful season for the Jays, and to add insult to injury, the Red Sox clinched the AL East against the Jays at Fenway, & it was their former manager John Farrell enjoying great success with the Red Sox( with whom he previously served as their pitching coach a few seasons prior )at the expense of the team he'd left following 2012 to take the managerial position in Boston to return to the Red Sox. 2013 was a memorable season for baseball, but for the Blue Jays that year, it was a major letdown. We'd have to wait a couple more seasons until the Jays finally delivered a winning ballclub again on the field.

As a pirates fan that season was so iconic even to this day. If we beat St. Louis in game 5 of the NLDS I think we legitimately could have at least made it to the World Series that year cause I definitely think we were better than the dodgers that year! 2013 in my opinion was our best shot at winning it all even more so than 2014-15 and we came up short.
