Last year was my first time ever turkey hunting, and my cousin referred me to your channel to learn. I binged all 15 years of your videos, and the first time we went out together, he told me I sounded like I’d been doing this for years. I went from 0% confidence on a call to calling two in during season in about a month’s time. Thank you for all the great videos and knowledge!

Iam adding another comment, I was the one who sent a pic of a gobbler that the whine had brought in from being hung up. Well it worked again this morning sent Matt another pic. Iam at a slight disadvantage, cause it absolutely can not use a mouth call, it gags me to no end, so I watched the whine video about 15 times and I learned to make the sound Matt was making fir the whine on my scatch box, it has worked twice now. Matt I really beleive you do this to help are us all better turkey hunters. Thank you. Stay safe, and always Thank the Lord.

Yeah i was one of those guys that emailed a pic of a gobbler that the whine brought into 10 yards from being hung up. Everyone click the whine video a watch it and practice. It realy worked on that ol boy last year. Stay safe and always thank the Lord

Just wanted to say that these are really good tips and calls to use on a bird! Ive killed 85 gobblers and used these calls on over half of them! Lots times soft calling will do the deed, bringing the BOSS bird in....Love the channel! Keep preaching the gobbler gospel!!

@@ryanwindham2997 because it works very well and makes gobblers close the distance from 100 yards to 20 yards last years Jake was shot at like 10 yards from a cluck and purr together, I have shot a lot of spring gobblers doing that call.

For me scratching is by far the deadliest call. Not sure if it counts as a "call" but my birds this season all were shot because I shut up and scratched. Position your hand or foot out of sight behind a tree and it's hard to go wrong, seems to always get their curiosity going

I've been making those sounds for 20 years and I can honestly tell you, they do work. There's so many sounds turkey's make that im sure most have never heard them...... you're The first person I've heard us those calls...... best of luck, our season starts in about 2 weeks

I’ve had hens cluck and purr after they saw me. It was a really loud cluck and purr over and over. Not the soft feeding cluck and purr. That’s probably where folks get that it’s an alarm call.

I think they say a cluck and purr is dangerous bc the bird might not hear the purr but just the cluck and that can sound like a putt for some people

I've been using a disposable plastic shopping bag and rough it up; sounds just like dry leaves. Have one hanging in the blind as well!

Matt i have a Call you need to try. As far as i know i never heard or seen anyone use it. I learned it from my turkeys i raised. Used it lasts season on some stubborn birds and they hit the B line and came straight running. I have a video of my hen making the sound, you need to hear it and use it.

I learnt my lesson on bad setup today I missed one because I hid myself so good in brush I didn't have clean shot

Like I’ve said before don’t set up in brush. Get some bottomland mossy oak set up against a tree, sit still , you don’t need all the brush lol. But just proves. Set up is everything

He gobbled and I just hit my butt, he came up a ridge went to my right and circled in behind me and came through the brush line. I didn't care if he was a Jake I would've been the most proud of that bird it was a dog fight getting him in I worked him from 230 to 445. I'm still sick over that one

Just get comfortable with the call being in your mouth then worry about learning calls that’s what I had to do just let the calll sit

Carry that call in your mouth all year long. Driving down the road, at work, you will get comfortable with it

I live in idaho and hunt more evergreens. Very few to no leaves. Wondering if just a forked stick in the pine needles would work?

@coyoteodie4458 are you playing with me?? Is there turkeys in Idaho?? Mountain turkey hunting just sounds difficult. In Missouri we got acorns . My grandpa would rarely call 📞 after a gobbler answered. He would scratch the leaves to imitate hen feeding. Gobblers sometimes answer, usually just came drumming. Do you hunt bobcats

@@catchasindog nah buddy, I'm not messing with you at all. Idaho has turkeys. I can't remember all the details but they started a transplant program decades ago. Used birds from Pennsylvania to name one state. They have done very well. To pest levels in alot of areas. From Boise to Canada has some of the largest concentrations. They've migrated North out of Utah into Eastern idaho. Private landowners bitch about them, but I've found very few who will let you hunt on their places. Mountain hunting is tough, but not all mountains are steep. Personally, I suck as a turkey caller. Thus the scratchy stick question. Headed out next week for 6 or 7 days. Combine it with first camping trip of the year. Freakin excited!

@@catchasindog I didn't mean to sound like I haven't ever been. My brother in law talked me into going years ago. I had initially turned him down for several years because I knew the country he hunted and I didn't want to put the work in for "a bird" that I put in for elk. Now days, I liken a gobble to an elk bugle. It has the same affect! He called in birds for himself, me, and my daughter. I've been hooked ever since. But again, I suck at calling. Last year I called in 5 Jake's that stampeded in and exited in the same fashion. I passed on the little guys, while laughing my ass off. Someday I'll call in a tom!
