We are so happy to hear that you experienced the magic of our island. We retired here 9 years ago and still can’t believe how fortunate we are to be able to live here. It’s so special and it never gets old. This was a great video! 😊

Wow we can’t imagine. Yes you all are very lucky to experience that every day. Thanks for watching! And don’t be surprised if you see us exploring the island again sooner than later 😂

Hey - I'm white and I'm on your team. Grew up in the 50's in Portsmouth, VA - so know what Blacks went through. I'm not happy my race is a part of that. I watched as they had to go to the back of the bus; could not drink out of a public water fountain and were not allowed in probably all restaurants; but certain I saw that take place in a few with my own eyes. Native Indians and Blacks - which have whites treated the worse. I appreciate and love you for who you are; and, what you have been through. Continue to be proud and participate. I love it that you are encouraging others who are black to do the same. Enjoyed the video. I've been fortunate enough to have traveled to the SJ Island with a tour company. I am 75 years old.

Great channel and videos! I’m Cambodian American and just moved to Seattle from Hawaii in April. Seattle has been amazing so far and I love that your channel shows the beauty of WA state and the PNW! It gives me more ideas for places to visit. If you need connections to the Washington Cambodian community for events or food for your channel, let me know. I also work for a nonprofit in WA state and we have connections to Cambodian businesses and foods. April is a really good time to go to our new years celebrations and it’s always a fun time and open to everyone. Let me know if you have any recommendations as well, especially Black-owned restaurants. I would love to go and support while eating great food. Best of luck to both of you and lots of love! ❤

Welcome to Seattle! The Pacific Northwest is beautiful, be sure to get out and explore. We know you’ll love it. You should check out our website because there we have an interactive map of Seattle Black owned businesses that can be filtered to restaurants. We may take you up on connecting to the Cambodian community, that would be great. We hope you continue to enjoy Seattle and get to experience all of what the state has to offer. Thanks for watching and supporting! Safe travels!

This video saved me such a headache! My husband and I are camping this week on Orcas Island for the first time and was aware a ferry was involved but like total ding dongs did no research. Thanks to this video we hopped on the WSDOT site and reserved our ferry spot and prevented a potentially ruined trip. Love this channel!

@TravelingWhileBlack13 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and your kind words! And yes we have been to the Olympic rainforest (The Hoh)! We briefly stopped by to check it out in an early episode (Episode 51). We want to go back because we didn’t do it right (we were really new to the PNW back then). But the little bit we did experience was amazing!

That part of the Islanders being 1% black = no thank you to me! I have a friend who moved from Chicago to Seattle and he claims it’s very racist there. That island is not far from him 😮 But otherwise great video ❤

😂 Thanks for watching! We have to say that part of the theme of our show is to encourage our people to go experience these places for themselves. We don’t want you to miss out on some amazingly dope experiences based on what someone told you based on their experience alone. We hope you decide to come check this part of the country out. Just stick to the spots in our videos 😂
