Can we get a protocol change so that every new pope (the successor) has to do the funeral service for the former pope (his predecessor) ? I love this concept of continuity which is shown by this ceremonial here.

Technically, it doesn't work like that. The Pope remains Pope until death, normally. A new pope is elected after the former has already died.

Repent and believe the gospel said Jesus Christ (Mark 1:15 KJV) that He died for all your sins one time on the cross in your place because the penalty of sin is death NOT good works or sacramental works of any church especially the RCC. No popes, priests, RCC, baptisms, confessions, masses, or anything needed or placed between you and GOD. If you think you still have sin to be forgiven then you deny that Christ died for all your sins. Born again (John 3:1-7 KJV) is not a process that you receive from the RCC. It's ever lasting life. John 3:16 KJV "16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The death of anyone should be a lesson to all of us to rethink our existence and meditate upon this life and understand why we were created and make sure we live our lives according to the way the prophets did. Making sure that we worship none but God the creator of the universe, the life giver and the life taker . Jesus peace be upon home never claimed he is God and he never died for anybody's sins. To know more about the purpose of life, what all messengers called to and how they're worshiped God, I kindly invite you all to read the Holy Quran, the true word of God.

If you study all scandals of the church from all past its so sad but look for your soul journey one day be raised in heaven. We must forgive if we want to be forgiven be mercifull. Sexual abuse its wrong in any age in any place that its like traffic yung children and seling them for sexual pleasure to another. Don't judge no one you will be free. Of course we cannot ignore but the soul who is go to heaven be merciful.
