My favorite worm. Watermelon seed is the best color. Use a chartreuse pen to color the last 2 mm of the tail. Both Bream and baitfish have a thin line of chartreuse at the edge of their tails.

I kinda like the ribbon tail worms with a 3/16 bullet sinker especially on a very hot day in July in Ohio. Caught a 4lb 12oz bass off the bank at a lake that has no fish. Those gloves are nice , picked some up at the Columbus Expo

Thanx Tyler. Take about 4" up from the tail and it makes a great chatter/spinnerbait trailer.

Try the end of it as a jig trailer . Also , I've fished it with bladed weedless screw lock hooks . Works great , the video is spot on as to the versatility of this bait .

This is a very timely video. I was watching Hank Parker, fishing last night, and he was using a jerk bait and a friend of his was using the Berkeley speedworm. And the speedworm out produced in the jerk bait 10 to 1.

I was just in a tournament on Lake Okeechobee which is one of our most pressured lakes in Florida. The vast majority of the top 10 in the tournament were all fishing June bug red, green pumpkin or black and blue zoom speed worms 😉

Absolutely! Live in KY and fish from a kayak. As soon as i hit a lake that has any kind of vegetation, put one on! Especially smaller water shed lakes.

Used this style curly tail a lot 30 years ago. Started using it again recently on the Potomac and Chickahominy River. Enough so that I bought a couple of molds so I make my own now.

Yeah Tyler being a Floridian we use speed worms all year round in fact it was Tyler from tylersreelfishing that inspired me to go back to the speed worm after using wacky rigs and the shakey heads the last few years. June bug, red bug and watermelon red are my go to colors! 😎

I was fortunate to use the Zoom speed worm successfully this morning here in southeast Florida, as I get accustomed to my new pedal kayak.

I'd argue that the weedless rigged swimbait has largely supplanted swimming a speed worm for the majority of people. But with everyone and their brother fishing a swimbait, the speed worm should definitely be in the arsenal.

Yes, I pretty much only buy speed worms in Florida. Tail rips off, I put it in my pocket and I’ll use it on a wacky rig later. Why is it that this bait is so popular in Florida, but not in other places?

Good deal there Tyler. Been using them for about 7 or 8 years now here in Virginia. I drag it, hop it, swim it around about anything. It's just my go to worm. Appreciate your videos. Have a blessed day.

My favorite worm to use, magnum size in junebug red. When the tail gets ripped off, you can still use it and catch fish like a stick bait... I use them then on a wacky rig ax well. 🤙

Great video on the juice. I will take a sharpie cap and punch a larger hole where the tail makes the turn close to the bottom of the worm. It gives it a nice kick to swim it. Keep up the great work man on the videos!

Wow… Thanks for this video today, it couldn’t come at a better time for me. I was just given access to a nearby lake that has plenty on milfoil grass and after catching several good bass on a chatter bait it slowed considerably, can’t wait to give this a try, Btw I’ve never used speed worms so 🤞… Thanks again from NJ

When you rig it, how is the hook on the tail in relation to the hook on the worm? Are they both going the same direction, or opposite directions?
@chrisjones3375
@chrisjones3375 6 ай бұрын
Doesn't matter too much. You can do it top, bottom, or sideways. Since the worm is round, it doesn't have a "top"

I like the heavy cover g finesse gami in 2/0. It may may sound small but its a big 2/0 the speedworm isnt very big.

@rustyshacklfur2637 nothing wrong with a 2/0! I fall into the "use the smallest hook you can get away with" camp.
@rustyshacklfur2637
@rustyshacklfur2637 6 ай бұрын
@@Cliff_Hanger9465 Not at all. I use that g finesse fin hvy 2/0 for 90% of t rigs and it slays em. It's got the gap of a 4-5/0 offset. As long as you're FC I couldn't imagine straightening it or even bending it.
@Cliff_Hanger9465
@Cliff_Hanger9465 6 ай бұрын
@rustyshacklfur2637 g finesse hooks are where it's at. Yeah you'd have to be really jacking the hookset on heavy braid to bend those out. I also tend to not set the hook super hard, personally. Growing up my mentality was always to set it just hard enough for a good hookup but not so hard you're tearing giant holes in their mouths or bending out hooks.
