God I remember when Rocket League was a good game, then they made it free, locked all progression behind paywalls and gave players who actually paid for the game literally so incentive to ever play again

What do you mean by the progression being locked behind paywalls? The only progression that wasn’t random chance since a short period of time after the launch of the game was competitive, and you don’t have to pay a dime for that. Furthermore, getting higher ranks in competitive and playing enough matches gives rank-based rewards that range from alright to spectacular depending on the season.
