the infinite scroll wheel isnt meant to be used for things like switching between weapons in an fps game. its meant to be used for scrolling down a page or something similar. its like leaving capslock on all the time and complaining you need to press shift to get lowercase letters

The g502 has superb form, function, and durability for its price point. I’ve used the g502 for 7 years at this point and I definitely adapted my playstyle around the mouse buttons. I have G502 wired, it's arguably the best mouse i've ever had, even though it's wired, the ergonomic shape, infinite scroll wheel, it's customizability and price made me love it, i've bought it 5 years ago and still does the job well until now, no double clicks, the sensor still works fine, only the rubber coating on the thumb grip has eroded.

My wired G502 works fine too. I think they went with different switches or manufacturers or something after that mouse as the double click issues. I got a G903 Wireless as an upgrade from the G502 and it eventually started double clicking, not as fast as most people but it didn't outlive the G502 usage.

I don't play games where mouse accuracy is a big factor. But I *do* use a G502 for work, with all of the weights installed, and sensitivity turned up. Makes it very controllable for tiny hand motions moving the mouse where it needs to go. Being able to toggle infinite scrolling on and off is *really* nice for switching between scrolling a little bit at a time as I'm reading, or making big moves across sections of large spreadsheets or huge documents. It probably wouldn't be my pick for a *gaming* mouse, but for an *office* mouse, it's great. If I could change anything, I'd make it bigger (I have giant hands - the original XBox Duke controller felt like it was made for me)

I've had a g502 (wired) for a bit over 4 years now. It's been great for productivity for me. I actually feel quite disabled whenever I have to use a generic mouse. I use the left and right tilt function of the scroll wheel to change tabs when browsing to the left or right and also to change volume when the G key is active. I also tied the left and right mouse buttons to copy and paste when the g key is active. I use the DPI button in the middle and the G key to close browser tabs. I regularly switch from infinite scroll to clicky scroll depending on what I'm doing. Infinite scroll is really good and smooth for browsing web pages and scrolling through spreadsheets. When gaming, I frequently assign certain key presses to certain buttons, and the software automatically makes those changes for that specific game. That said, I've felt the most benefit from using the g502 as a productivity mouse, and the amount that you actually have to move the mouse can be significantly reduced if you assign the right shortcuts to it. I haven't actually used any of the included weights though and don't really play fps games. (Closest thing would be minecraft I guess.)

Mouse weight is relative to our bodies. I feel lighter mouse hard to control, and to small to comfortable position my hand. The G502 weight is right for me, the slightest adjustment of my finger, wrist, or arm feels smooth with it. With the same sensitivity, lighter mice are hard to move smoothly unless I really apply myself.

Love that "It's not you, it's me" speech at the end. Even if you don't want to use it, it seems the mouse is just likeable with how quirky it is. When viewing videos I swear by it, that infinite scroll is amazing. ALSO- reason I use mine for websurfing and stuff to this day? Because I CAN. I am a hyper aggressive clicker when gaming, to the point I get accused of using autofire and crap. No, I just click that fast. I have buried dozens of Razers, you name it. But at the end of the day my trusty old G502 is still there, waiting for one more game, working just fine. A mouse I bought in 2014, almost a decade old, is working flawlessly still. That is why I still love it, if someone asks for a mouse that will last forever, it's my go-to, and the one that replaced the sadly long lost Microsoft Intellimouse. A mouse from 2003 that still works, it even has a PS2 adapter, but sadly isn't available anymore because it's not flashy enough. Hinthint Microsoft, Retro is a thing nowadays. Bring it back!

I like the shape, the scroll wheel and the back and forward (2 side) buttons. It's also very reliable and lasts several years. My old one died because of the cable but the new ones are replaceable. The sensor and wireless latency are also considered to be very good as far as I've heard. Regarding the weight, many people are getting way too lazy and inactive these days. They're probably better off shifting an extra 50g on the desk xDDDD Once you're used to the weight it's not a big deal and even if it still effects accuracy I bet that the more you get used to it the less it effects it. Is there any mouse with the same shape that you would consider better?

I have had a G502 for a little kver a year now. I like the ergonomics. The infinite scroll is nice for CAD work as it makes it easy to zoom in and out on very small features on the model and scrolling through large reference documents of things such as tap drill sizes. The "sniper" button is also nice to make very small, precise movements, often needed in 3d modeling.

I've been using a G502 for about 3 years now and I love it. The main things I like about it are the shape (it fits really comfortably in my hand), and the positioning of the buttons. The one feature I particularly like about it is the side to side click on the scroll wheel. A lot people don't know this but the G502 has a feature that I haven't seen in any other mouse. You can push the scroll wheel to the left or right and its an extra set of buttons. I mapped them to cycle weapon (left) and holster weapon (right) in Apex Legends and it feels so natural I can't go back. Reaching for the 1, 2, and 3 keys with my left hand is just too far to accurately do from wasd without looking away from the screen for me so this scroll wheel feature is a godsend. That being said, there are things I don't like about the G502. I don't actually like the weight. I feel like I would have more control if it were lighter and would absolutely take a mouse that has all the features of the G502 but weighed like 80-90g or something. The other thing I don't like about it is the infinity scroll. Sure its convenient sometimes if you have to scroll really far, but I find most of that time its faster just to drag scroll anyway and while it has the toggle button so I can choose not to use it, when I'm playing Apex sometimes I accidentally hit it and it releases the ratchet on the scroll wheel which is really annoying. I don't end up switching weapons like crazy though I just end up bunny hopping because my scroll wheel down is bound to jump.

There is a good reason for the weights at the time. For one gaming was seeing a boom in non-twitch gaming genres and FPS Shooters were going through a slump. Also lighter plastic mice felt cheaply made and a super light mouse was a negative selling point as the bargain low dpi mice were made of cheap light fragile plastics. a harder and heavier mouse was a sign of quality that then manufacturers played into. Also the components for good mice kept getting lighter so more artifical weight was added. Another point is that as DPI/CPI went up the mouse makers thought people would stop lifting the mouse up. Mice kept getting made that way because injection molds and redesigns are expensive and if people are buying it and it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This video summarizes exactly why I'm using the G502 right now, very good research 👍 I started using the original MX500 in the mid 2000s, so I have really gotten used to the shape. I removed the spring from the mouse wheel on the MX500, so it would spin more freely. When it was time to upgrade early 2010s, the G500 was just released, same shape, much better sensor, more buttons, and already had the infinite scroll wheel. Eventually my G500 started ghost-clicking, so I was considering my options: have it repaired, get another one, or replace it entirely, and at that time the G502 was already priced very attractively, so I thought can't go wrong at that price, and have been using it ever since. I only use a single weight to balance it out more, not really to make it heavier, I would prefer a lighter mouse, but the combination of features, shape and price just can't be matched by anything else on the market.

Ive used a wired g502 from around when it released to a few days ago and there is one thing that I have to say that I have not seen or heard anyone mention but I don’t know whether it is an issue with me. The rubber grip for the thumb rest wore away so much inward that it started to mold itself and it just makes it feel very old and worn away, which it is. Another really big issue is that the metal scroll wheel on the older models (I know it’s been changed to have rubber grip on the newer ones and I wish I had them) would actually rust overtime and scratch my middle finger and now it would just feel even more tender outside of using the mouse. It was so bad that I replaced my first g502 with a second one and only recently the rusted scroll wheel has become an issue again and just makes me worry about longevity and I always mention that to people looking to buy the mouse. It’s amazing and it served me well, maybe I used it longer than intended honestly however, I don’t know exactly what an intended life of use for a mouse really would be but it’s still something to note in my mind.

My favorite feature is when paired up with a Logitech brand mouse pad is that you can use surface tuning and leave it on default surface. Since the mouse pads from Logitech are the same surface that are used for in house mouse tests, turning on surface tuning ensures that the mouse and mousepad are optimized for each other.

For me what it comes down to on why I love the 502 is that the thumb button can change your what key/button/scroll click actions are. While I can do that on other mice, I've found the position of that thumb button makes it much more comfortable for that. Personal recommendation for use with a browser or common key commands: Quick tab switching (Ctrl + Tab / Ctrl + Shift + Tab): thumb + scroll left/right New tab (Ctrl + T): thumb + scroll click Close tab (Ctrl + W): thumb + DPI up ReOpen tab (Ctrl + Shift + W): thumb + Forward

I've been using the G502 for about seven years now and I currently own three of them. I originally purchased the standard wired version as I was looking for a new MMORPG mouse with better ergonomics and less buttons. I did the math prior to purchasing and it had the exact number of buttons I needed for GW2 (after rebinding the DPI buttons into keybinds). After using the mouse for a while, I purchased a second one for my laptop, and just recently purchased the wireless version to replace the original, which is still in perfect working order (I just wanted a wireless mouse). Here's why it's my forever mouse: -Infinite scroll wheel toggle. -Fantastic ergonomics. -Higher weight (I genuinely prefer to add a few of the included weights). -No need for GHUB as you can download the on board memory manager and store settings directly to the mouse. -The button layout is damn near perfect. At this point, I have become so accustomed to the hotkeys that I couldn't imagine switching to something else.

I badly broke my hand back in 1992 which left my hand not perfect and my ring finger a bit atrophied on the first joint. So the weight, the button placement, the size, the shape, programmability and general features just works better for my hand than any other mouse I've used (and I started gaming in the early 80s so I've used a few). Edit: I use all the weights and set the DPI higher and I've never had an issue.

Have the same issue because of several hand injuries while playing wheelchair basketball. My pinky is still broken / not straight and this mouse feels amazing. I also use all the weights, and use it at around 12,000 DPI I just barely move my hand when gaming and when I need to snipe / be precise I use the DPI step down button on the side. I like this mouse so much that I have 3 of them of various types. One for my office, one for my work from home setup and one for this computer. I really like this mouse.

Having never used a dedicated “gaming” mouse before I actually thought the g502 was sooo light compared to the other mice I’d been using so I’ve never understood the complaints about its weight.

I've had the g502 for a couple of years now and it is an irreplaceable part of my set up. It's replaced my mx master as my productivity mouse and sits right beside my superlight that's always ready for a gaming sesh. For story mode games though, the g502 is still my go to. When the double clicks started happening I replaced the switches with some Kailh 4.0s and love it even more. The infinity scroll for me isn't an on or off type deal, but something I toggle between depending on the use case. Most of the time it's in notched mode, but scrolling though websites and spreadsheets- infinity scroll is unbeatable. The ergonomics is s-tier, too.

I like the wired G502. For me the wireless version is uncomfortable due to the weight. For me the reasons I love using the G502 are: nearly perfect ergonomics for my grip style and hands, it has the right amount of buttons in the right places for me, easily reprogrammable buttons per mode, easy switching between programmed modes, the infinite scroll wheel, on the fly dpi switching. The main reason I initially bought one was having three well placed thumb buttons (two is not enough, more is to many) which is still the primary reason why I keep using it.

I love my CoolerMaster MX-531 for one very specific reason: its the only mouse I could find with PBT buttons. Every other mouse I've had with ABS buttons wear smooth eventually but I've got two of these MX-531's (one at home and one at work) that still have nicely textured buttons after 2-3 years of use.

For a few years you could get the G502 wired for $25-$35. That's damn cheap for a pretty good quality gaming mouse. Logitech accomplished something quite impressive with the Lightspeed/wireless version. They were able to keep the same shape and size that people had grown accustomed to while shaving off a few grams even with the internal battery and wireless transmitter bits. Personally I have to have a mouse with a thumb rest. I'm using a G502 Lightspeed but I'm looking forward to Glorious releasing the wireless version of their Model I

I've used the mouse for 5 or 6 years and the biggest reason i haven't gotten a lighter or different mouse is in my main game, i can bind just about everything to the mouse so i don't have to take my hands off of movement keys, i also really like its software, its easy to use, gives a lot of customizability, and most importantly, doesn't require an account, I've also not found a mouse with a similar enough button layout, or with as many buttons in the right places to replace it.

my g502 is 5yo, replaced L/R switches almost every year. 1. people DO NOT use ultra-light mice with low sens for productivity. i work @ 2500dpi. 2. the wired version is a different beast. 3. aside from the infinite scroll, the scroll tilt switches are very handy. 4. this mouse can do 2 layers with G-Shift, which can almost double the functionality of all buttons. 5. the Logitech software is so easy to use and is very useful with macros. 6. not a lot of mice come with a thumb rest, which helps a lot with high sens users.

as a mouse enjoyer, you pretty much hit all the good points about the mouse. the removable weight is a gimmick especially since the mouse is already pretty heavy without the weights (granted it released way before lightweight mice were a thing) the shape is honestly the best shape in my opinion for anyone getting into PC gaming. its ergonomic enough to be used throughout the day, and safe enough for just about anyone to hold it. however, the way you grip the mouse also depends on usability. the actual aesthetics the mouse gives off is also something people probably get this mouse for. when i first got into pc gaming, this was a mouse i always wanted but never got. then i transitioned to csgo and then opted for something better. if you were to get this mouse/shape as an fps player in modern day, youre better off with glorious' lightweight version. the cable for it is actually usable to game with. if you take all the technicality and all the reasons people give, it all comes down to preference. solid vid, lowkey wasnt expecting a mouse vid from you at all.

For a while it was my "do it all" mouse. Infinite scroll on for web surfing, off for gaming. W/ G Shift especially, I could do things like cycle tabs, close or cycle through apps, go to previous pages, etc on one mouse. And then I'd just hit a profile switch button to use it for gaming, where I had access to an MMO amount of buttons but FPS level of comfort. It was pretty perfect, and I still use it for web surfing and stuff. I've hopped over to the Glorious Model I for gaming though.

The shape fits perfectly into my hand and i love heavy mice, i use the mouse with all the weights, no other mouse has ever felt this good. I think the biggest thing is that this was really good for the price. 5+ years ago people werent spending $130 on a mouse so the products in the “high end” were right around $80-$100. That means budget options were $40ish, enter g502. It was a good mouse that had good ergonomics and features for the time and price. Also lightweight gaming mice were not nearly as plentiful if they even existed at all. This whole 60g mouse thing is so new. Especially in the wireless space, that was the trade off you had to make if you wanted wireless

For me personally i like it because when i use a superlight mouse while playing FPS games i overflick alot even though i still have my main sensitivity that i’ve been using for years. But when i have a heavy mouse like the G502 it makes my aim a little bit more steadier. And also don’t forget about the fact that you can easily switch DPI’s while playing different games so it’s very convenient

Been using it for almost five years plus now? It's actually a little large for my hands but I love the programmable buttons because they're excellent to use in both games and when browsing. It's especially useful for when I am working because it means I don't need to rely on the keyboard so much to open and close tabs, jump between them etc. Plus it's incredibly durable - my mouse looks used and beaten but functions like the first day out of the box.

I've used mine for over 6 years. The thumb rest is worn and there is the ABS shine, but it is still kicking and I'd probably replace it with the wireless version. It has a very comfortable shape. It has a good grip. I like to use the side buttons for mapping often used functions in games and to go back and forward. The two next to the LMB I use for volume adjustment which is better than using the volume wheel on my G815 that has no tactility whatsoever. Sometimes I use the infinite scroll, sometimes MMB+drag if I want more control over the speed. The clicks are good, the buttons are easy to hit and require little force. It handles sweat reasonably well. The weights I don't use, the same for the button behind the scroll lock and the third side button is too far away for me. Personally, I don't care about the relative heavy weight. Muscle memory will take care of that and honestly, people often don't understand that a lighter mouse isn't necessarily better. You also need to be able to handle the light weight. For some, a heavier mouse is more suitable. It can give you more control. randomfrankp made a video once about switching back to the G502 and he mentioned how he was accused of hacking 😂.

For me the infinite scroll has become almost like a fidget toy, and I keep fidgeting with it to the point that when I do use other mice, my brain goes BSOD for 2 seconds every 5 minutes because the wheel doesn't go brrrr like its suppose to. However, the original reason for me to get the mouse was to have additional buttons on the mouse: First, I never use the "sniper" button, I immediately reconfigure it to middle-click (scrollwheel click), because in my lifetime of using 15 different mices, the middle-click was always the first thing to break down. Also, pressing down on the scrollwheel during a frantic moment in high intensity gaming session just doesn't feel as reliable as clicking an actual button. Second, while playing games where both Keyboard and mouse are dominant, your keyboard hand becomes overburdened with inputs, and I feel that having some extra keys on the mouse hand balances things nicely.

As a casual G502 Lightspeed user (no games), I love my mouse because it's wireless, has long battery life, is ergonomic for me personally, and the infinite scroll wheel for browsing is really nice and convenient if you unlock it, flick whatever way you wanna go, and stop it with the button. Definitely not a gaming feature what so ever. Being a non kbm gamer the weight doesn't bother me one bit. Plus, it's got just enough buttons for my liking. Would I consider other mice? Sure, but I'm very much content with this one.

If I’m going to use a mouse, I’ve found it works great for the shape for me. If anything, the side buttons are too sensitive, but then again, on the side is the wrong place to put buttons on a mouse for the sake of moving it accidentally, especially if stiffer: I expect they measured that out to have less resistance than the mouse would remain stationary while using to point. But I’m looking at a design that gets most ideal keyboard/mouse/pointing device functionality combined so you never lose your home row placement on the keyboard and don’t need to do weird contortions to use mouse functionality, either, because eraser mice don’t work well for size.

2 things I can't get away from The added thumb button: For games where I've found a use for this, I can't give it up. I'd love to participate in the lightest mouse race too... but I can't lose a bind that's intuitive for something like vaulting in PUBG. The wing: To be honest I'd probably love a pinky wing too. I've always had a palm grip and prefer to rest my hand on the mouse, which drags a lot on the mouse pad. The weight doesn't bother me, but probably because I've been gaming 20 years, so I'm not attuned to these ultra light mice.

I have this mouse and have enjoyed it for the most part. The main reason that I got this mouse is the infinite wheel. I always lock the wheel to the increment mode during FPS games. This is one of the mice that has 1000Hz polling rate too. The ones that I could find with the infinite scroll wheel and able to turn that function off are limited. I don't really care about the programable buttons on this and the other really big negative to this is the mouse wheel wobble. The loose tolerance for it makes a tapping noise, as best as I can describe, when moving the mouse side to side. For me I have large hands and the length fits my hands pretty well. I just wish it was wider.

I use the Superlight for gaming as well now because its lightweight feels a lot better, but I do miss the place to rest my thumb on the left side of the mouse so it's not rubbing against the mousepad. Also the side buttons on the Superlight feel way too mushy to the point that I sometimes can't tell that I pressed them, where the G502 has a more clicky and tactile feeling in the side buttons. I use the side buttons a ton in fast paced FPS games and it's a huge drawback to the Superlight for me.

I'm one of the people that likes a heavier mouse. I used the G502 because it sorta was the successor of the G5. I actually preferred the G5 in most respects and it had similar popularity and was very durable. I liked the G5 because it came out at a time when people were just transitioning away from ball mice, and ball mice are heavier. You could also put some weight in the back of the mouse which added some inertia to counteract the tug of the wire, and made straight horizontal movements easier.

I've owned nothing but G502's for my PC since I first built it, first a Proteus Core, and now a Lightspeed. Perfect size and shape as well as button layout for me, the weight(yes, I like the heft of it), and the fact that Logitech allows on board profiles - no need for the software to always run when my PC is on. I did have to replace the left and right click switches on my Lightspeed because of double click issues, but besides that, it's been solid and I refuse any other mouse. I also recently got a charger from amazon where I can just slap it onto a little stand, and it works perfectly(and works for all Logitech mice with the puck in the bottom) but it's SO nice to not worry about a cable, and to not have to spend the extra on the mouse pad from Logi.

I use a lighter mouse now, but I loved my g502. I used the scroll wheel to shoot semi auto weapons super fast in single player games. What I really loved about the mouse though was the position of the side buttons and also the shape. I'm using a Model D right now I and while I prefer it, it's not as comfortable for me personally. Another thing is that it's built like a tank, I've in someway broken at least 3 lightweight mice just from normal non abusive gaming use. The Model D i'm using currently is missing a side button that literally just fell off after 2-3 weeks of owning it. I'm considering the Glorious g502 lightweight clone though now since it has upgraded side buttons that aren't just held on by what appears to be 2 very thin plastic legs.
