I don't think Vaatu made Unavaatu huge because he was in his bigger form, but because of harmonic convergence. Otherwise I think Korra with Raava / Unalak with Vattu are as powerful (spiritually), despite the size difference between Raava/Vaatu when they don't inhabit a human. Their size represents the good/evil in the world, so it is constantly changing. The reason Vaatu was so much bigger during S2 finale, was because he influenced other spirits to be bad and because the whole world (spiritual and material) were in pretty shitty places. Imo what made the avatar spirit truly powerful, was the knowledge Raava carried from an Avatar to another. To the point, that in Aang's reincarnation, bending (as far as it's limits were known) was brought to litteral perfection. So even if Raava is stronger with Korra, the true power she offered didn't come from energy bending (which the Avatar can't use like spirits do it outside of harmonic convergence anyway, and they can only use it of it's created from another source outside or only bend the one inside. Short: Korra cannot create energy blasts just because Raava is as big as Vaatu now, since that was a harmonic convergence perk), but instead came from the ability to bend all 4 elements and access all the knowledge on bending them to perfection.

@@ktm1125 The amount of good/evil energy in the world directly affects their power, and is represented through the size, we see that when Raava gets small and is no longer able to fight Vaatu without help. The amp to the power of an avatar is correlated to the size of the spirit, seen by Unavaatu water bending becoming more powerful when he merges. Unavaatu becoming that giant thing wasn't from them merging, since that didn't happen immediately, that seems like energy bending like what Korra did with the guidance of Jinora and her spirit bending. Now of course the knowledge is important, but we can see that some benders just have more inherent ability than others, whether that be their physicality or spirituality or whatever. Korra gaining the larger Raava, who is stronger based on what we know from Wan arc, gives a direct power amp to all her abilities related to spirits, which bending is, again based on Wan arc and spiritually connected people (like Iroh and Zaheer) having higher power ceilings. This isn't to say knowledge < power, they are both important to benders, but Korra specifically is a brute. Having more access to baseline power (moving bigger rocks, having bigger fire plumes, being able to do water towers in base) is important for her.

@crayhack Yes but that's not where the power of the avatar lies. Aang was throwing rocks as big as her in his Ozai fight. But then we saw that in the avatar state he was more powerful ten fold, with just fragments of rocks. Because bending at it's finest is about precision not scale. And for that matter, even if we go by size Aang/Roku still had bigger feats. So we don't factually know bigger spirit == more powerful bending. As neither Korra nor Unavaatu unlocked their giant forms without harmonic convergence. And Korra even without Raava showed the same amount of feats. So it stands to reason the power (for creating spirit energy) comes from harmonic convergence and not Raava/Vaatu. They just each needed someone more spiritually connected to highlight to them that they can do it.

The running joke well before even the comics was that Kyoshi was a homicidal maniac who would kill everyone who got in her way. Not a pacifist. The thing people need to learn about Kyoshi is that she had no reservations about killing people, but she did understand it was a last resort.

I agree that we should get a Kiyoshi video all about her because I too haven’t looked into her published backstory. But I don’t think it’s correct to say that most people who only watched ATLA thinks all avatars are pacifist unless they are misremembering the show or they just weren’t paying attention. The show made it pretty clear that Aang’s pacifism was directly tied to the ways of the air nomad monks, not the morals of the avatar lineage. Even with what little we learn of Kiyoshi, one of her most defining features was how absolutely ruthless she was and that she had no qualms about killing. And even the previous air nomad Avatar Yangchen had stated that the greater good comes before her personal morals of pacifism, therefore in Aang’s position she would kill the Fire Lord if there is no other way. Even though the Avatar is tasked with restoring and keeping balance, the way they go about making that happen is ultimately up to the individual, and the avatars do not hold a pacifist stance as a general rule at all.

@@razorvega4900 Matpat from the channel Film Theory also talked about Avatar. He said, that Szeto was most of the time in the Fire Nation and did administration work to help his nation advancing. That was his great flaw. He focused so much on his home nation, that he almost ignored the other nations completly. That's all I know about him.

I think that the Avatar can achieve flying that way if they become untethered to whatever it is that binds them, the only reason the other avatars were able to fly was because they either used one set of bending that was heightened by the Avatar State (Korra flying with fire bending in the Avatar State or when Fire Lord Ozai flew using fire bending during the last episode with Sozin's Comet) or when all of the elements are used at the same time (Aang flying in a giant sphere surrounded by all 4 elements

The point of the Dark Avatar was to show why there can never be a Dark Avatar. Because the Avatar exists because of the harmony between spirit and man. Which can only be achieved through peace. Hence Vaatu betrays Unalaq and takes over his body once he outlived his usefulness. "I also kinda hate how they never answered some of the questions about our original characters, like we never found out if Sokka had any kids, cuz all the others had and we met all of them, but Sokka was completely neglected and barely mentioned." Yes, it's almost as if those questions are irrelevant to Korra's journey and thus had no reason to be given any exposition. "Also, this is just a person pet peeve of mine, but I was not a fan of the technological advancement in Korra, it felt out of place and kinda ruined the world I had grown to love in the Original series. The appeal of a fantasy world is that it's not our world, and if you add technology to it, it becomes more like it, ruining the "magic" of that world." I respect your opinion, and I used to think the same thing, but it is not out of place once you remember how steampunk ATLA was, how the war brought the industrial revolution and how there was a whole episode dedicated to showing Aang that when the world changes, people have to change with it.

Yeah it would be much more exciting to have a truly dark avatar (not evil; darkness is more opposite of light than morally evil it sounds ) who knows all the elements and can properly challenge the avatar

Yes. One of if not the greatest series to ever exist objectively. Because of what it holds, not only are there life lessons in there. But you learn about how to discover yourself, your spirit and the world and how humanity can be and how they are. It is the most real life accurate piece of fiction ever written

How is that not a good thing? Korra has experienced so much and can offer vast amount of wisdom.

@@OPGardevoir On the contrary. By the end of the series Korra had become a wise and spiritually enlightened person. Which can only grow from then on. Meaning the next Avatar will have a great guide.

Not to mention aang probably had to improve even farther than most being the last Airbender and all basically having to jumpstart an entire nation's culture. When all is said and done yes she has wisdom but on the same level and also... it's just her, whereas aang had hundreds of past lives to communicate with

I recommend that you read her story. It is well written. A detail that was missed in this video was how hard she and her parents made it for the ones searching for the Avatar. Her parents were actively avoiding the Avatar searchers, thinking they were the authorities trying to catch them for being thieves.
