I think the title of Most Powerful Floor Modeler needs rethinking....This crown, I think should go to the FM9....Here's why...

I've decided to make it possible to grab both my Helix/HX Stomp bundles (the expression bundle with freeze presets has always been separate) together - www.paypal.com... - I will then email you a link to both bundles!

The biggest plus of the fractal stuff is that it sounds amazing straight away with minimal tweaking. Of course you can edit all you want and it’s the most powerful in that regard, but the tones as you pull up an amp etc is by far the most inspiring compared to other modellers.

As a former owner of that undersized formula 1, who used to always comment on your videos about that being a better product, I finally decided to give Fractal a shot. I started with an FM3 about a month ago. All my other devices were sold last weekend, and I’m on the wait list for an FM9 now too :) So I thank you for your videos, but my bank account doesn’t.

Loved the playing in the intro. Beautiful. Crisp execution. One of your best yet.

I had been on the waiting list for a few months( lost track of the time) but I got my invite to buy at Christmas. I've got a Helix and a Stomp and won't put them down, but the FM-9 just sounds more real out of the box. The factory presets are really great and are targeted at providing classic guitar and effects setups, not weird noises. I immediately checked out the "Stone in Love" preset because my band does a lot of Journey. I got lost jamming that preset for the next couple of hours. I've got several real Mesa Boogie amps and the Fractal emulations nail them.😊❤

The Fractal Units are probably the best money can buy, and sound great. I've got an HX Stomp, and to get more "real" sounding results from it, I turn the Cab Block High cut down to around 4-5kHz so it matches actual "real" Guitar Speaker frequency responses. For some reason Line 6 Helix has the Cabs High Cut set at a default of 8kHz - The reason being something about "insider baseball."

@picksalot1 Yeah.I do that at the end , a parametric before the Studio Comp.The Jason Sadites Template, really.All my cuts are from 5 to 7 at the most but mostly 5ish. This makes the amps far more enjoyable as well as Sag between 5 and 10 , Bias also.I like quite a lot of the amps.

Frank, I run two Mesa Lone Stars in stereo for my live set up. I downloaded Marco Fantons MF Texas patch and Ill be darned if it does not nail my real amp sounds to a T. Give it a look.

Game changer for gigging! I am not a software geek by any means and I can use the desktop editor with ease. Song list is fantastic. The sound is amazing. BTW- I’ve never seen you use the editor- you would love it and with a screen shot your videos would be so much better. Great playing as usual

I'm confused by your statement. Fractal was not a new entrant into the modeling market in 2019. I've had a Fractal since 2006 and I believe Cliff started the company well before that. I used to email back and forth with him back then and he was/is brilliant. I'm so glad that he has been so successful. He and Christoph Kemper have been godsends to the guitar world. I never really paid attention to modelers (Line 6 etc) before Cliff because they did not even remotely stand up in studio settings against a well-placed mic and dialed-in amp. Cliff singlehandedly dragged us luddite guitarists into the future and we are all the better for it.

I was on the wait list for "That new thing". I got tired of waiting and cancelled the order and got an Axe Fx III. Best thing "That new thing" ever did was keep promising and not deliver. It led me to "THAT REAL THING".

I still feel like I can’t leave QC since the touch screen is SO convenient. But if fractal makes a touch screen version of this I would switch in a heartbeat

Do you think this FM9 would replace your Helix as a live rig? Or not really as both good and the audience will still enjoy the gig
@martyshwaartz971
@martyshwaartz971 Жыл бұрын
I’m not John, but I would argue the helix is much better for live use as the user interface is much more intuitive. Although I’m sure you could become proficient with both.
@joejohnson8966
@joejohnson8966 Жыл бұрын
@@martyshwaartz971 Both will be perfect for any gig. Helix, especially Helix lT is A LOT cheaper than fm9 but you get more for your money. Also the footswitch possibilities are the best on the FM9. If you have the money, rule of thumb is that no amp nor effect pedal will be better on Helix compared to the Fractal. A massive amount of people I know even if they don't use the amps they are using ALL the effects from their Fractal units. They also have a 30 day money back guarantee. Helix is easier to tweak live but when you set the FM9 up well for the gig, it won't be hard to adjust them to the venue. I love the Helix. As in I LOVE IT. Don't have any desire to go back to it from the fm9. Both are great units and for live use the audience will the THRILLED with either.

@@joejohnson8966 those are good points! And to be fair, making the presets is the big barrier with fractal, tweaking is no big deal.

Seriously, show us a vocal demo while playing guitar! We want to see it! It has so much DSP, that you can switch presets seamlessly. WiFi updates, Bluetooth connectivity, beautiful intuitive user interface, you don’t need 100 videos just to make one decent sounding preset. Your point about not being able to add more than 2 amps with pedals at once is silly! You can just setup 4 presets with 4 different amps and change between them seamlessly. You don’t need to put 100 things in one preset anymore those days are over
