I woke up last year 2023. Jesus pulled me out. I now know what it means to be born again. Jesus has lead me to just "being" for a season. Not overly striving for approval. Or following any religious regiment. It's a relationship with your God that counts for everything.

I just walked away. I never tried to “wake people up” because I’ve experienced just what you have. The Witnesses I know are grown and making their own choices, they have these rehearsed, unreasoning answers to everything, and they will run me in circles when I feel like I’m supposed to just be living my life and trying to do some good in the world. A lot of the folks I care about left on their own when they got sufficiently tired of the nonsense. I appreciate those who do feel called to have public platforms, because they will give courage to those who are uncomfortable and reconsidering to just leave. You let people know in a much broader way than I can by individual example, that there is absolutely life on the other side of WT.

Great choice in movie clip there. As I see it, there are two very powerful forces at work in the minds of the JWs, which hijacks their will: 1. Willful blindness, which is "willful" primarily due to 2. undue influence. Cypher, in this clip speaks volumes when he said, "Ignorance is bliss." The pain of knowing oftentimes is too much to bear. This is the fear I spoke about in my third installment in my apostate series. The JWs understand, if even at a level below the liminal space, that the pain of knowing the real truth about the cherished Faith can have profound implications. Most are not ready for that level of pain. But, speaking from my own experience - if I could go through it again, knowing the pain that I would experience after arriving at the truth, I would still make the same decision again. Knowing the truth with lucidity is better than blissful ignorance, in the long run.

It’s lovely to see you here. Good point you mention about no human being able to wake Saul up. I know that there are many in WT who don’t see the truth about the org, but we know that Jehovah’s grace will save many of those honest hearted ones at Armageddon. I personally feel thankful to WT for some of the basic doctrines. I do feel they are on the right side concerning: Jehovah’s name and identifying him, who Jesus is, the blood issue (I personally feel the scriptures are very clear on this and the significance of blood and the immuno-compatibility issues connected, point to blood not being designed for human to human transmission), Armageddon (though not the generation teaching or 1914 - forgetting those- they make no sense), celebrating of Xmas, birthdays etc (Jews and Muslims never celebrated birthdays because they knew, back then, of the horrible connections they had to paganism, but also, Jesus must have felt pain when Jehovah’s prophets were murderer on those birthdays. I know many ex-JWs say “there’s no connection between my birthday and the significance of those past birthdays.” However, If something hurt our father, like a painful memory, practising things that honour the pain is cruel. Jehovah and Jesus, also feel pain. I respect that and personally don’t want to practice things that bring energy to that pain.) Anyhow, those are my imperfect musings. We all live in God’s grace and have so much to thank him for as our impact thoughts and reasonings are often so far removed from his, sadly. I hope you and your mother keep well. Ali, the worst mistake of my life was getting involved with the JW cult in 1961. The best thing that ever happened to me was getting out of this cult in 2018!

Bless my mother, she is 85, and going no where at this point. Back in the early 70s, when there were more door to door salesmen, my mother was an easy sell. We had kirby vaccuums, encyclopedias, Charles Chips deliveries, AND she became a witness. Still is to this day. Cant speak any sense to her. At this point, all action is futile.

Hello Ali Thank you for sharing your thoughts, it’s always interesting to hear other people’s thoughts and reasoning processes. My wife and I have been out now for 6 years, and it’s surprising how similar it is when waking up as how it was hearing the “truth” for the first time. When I got baptized back in 1990 I was thrilled and wanted to tell everyone, and couldn’t understand when people didn’t want to know. I was just as surprised when I woke up and tried telling a few brothers what I learned, they didn’t want to know either. It’s weird how some people respond to the truth about the truth and others simply don’t want to know. Then I also thought about how the majority of people who saw Jesus’ miracles weren’t moved either. If Jesus came to earth today and went on global TV and raised people from the dead - the ultimate miracle, which even the best magicians can’t do - most would probably not be moved enough to follow him, so what chance do we have? When Jesus talked to the Pharisees he condemned them publicly and didn’t mince his words. It was the ordinary folk he had empathy for, what we would call the rank and file JW’s. So I guess we shouldn’t give up trying if and when the opportunity presents itself. Very often it’s not what we say but how we act, our attitude, demeanour etc. Personally, I believe that if we have genuine joy in Christ and display a genuine Christlike personality as opposed to the fake joy JW’s show, that in itself is a powerful witness. BTW I love your analogy of the Pharaoh attitude! It’s so true. Have a great day and I look forward to seeing more videos. beautifully said. i left at 18 and over 6 decades my uber righteous jw family keep telling me i am 'doing the wrong thing'..... by being happy and having a fulfilled life...instead i should be sacrificing my happiness to be a jw and stand by a cart., because (they say) your happiness and salvation depends on watchtower....so depriving your life now means you can do it all in paradise. i say .. that's your adult choice, my choice is my life is now not some 'hope' of a future event.

Yes, we are saved by grace through faith, not of works, BUT works are important. We are to go out and talk to people and tell them about Jesus. As Jesus said "not you will fish for men" If we were to be saved by faith, then we may as well go back to our old ways after as we all THINK, we are saved because of knowing Jesus is Lord. We still have to do the work.

Waking up for most ex-JW's usually means a realization that you have been lied to on a grand scale and a desire to find out what the real truth is. For a ex-JW to become a true Christian means the unraveling of all of those twisting and pharisaical nonsenses that they have dumped on them. One thing that helped me, because I still believed that Gods word was the Bible, was to only except exactly what it said and if there seemed to be contradictions I would assemble all the scriptures that had bearing on the thought and let it, the scriptures, tell me what it was saying, along with prayer and a request for the Holy Spirit. So, when I see an inference about something from the scriptures I try to tactfully and lovingly point out what may, and I do mean may, be off center or a wrong conclusion. That would be about the Apostle Paul and his possible understanding about Jesus and his pre-cross history. Paul was from Tarsus and did not live in 1st. century Israel. So there is no record or even inference that he had direct eyewitness evidence of what miracles Jesus performed. What he would have heard is the view that his fellow pharisee's had about Jesus and what they were saying about him and his works. That he was another false prophet with a bunch of ignorant rabble followers that were spreading lies about his accomplishments. If Paul had first hand knowledge and saw the works of Jesus and then lied about it, he would receive the same comdemnation that Jesus gave to his fellow pharisee's. All indications are that Paul was deceived and had his eyes opened by Christ himself and turned the zeal he had in persecuting first century Christians into a fiery zeal to serve his masters interests. That is the lesson we can take from Pauls life as a Christian. Once we know the real truth about the Christ nothing else matters but putting forth Christ and his Kingdom interests.

Try not to worry about how people eat their steaks :) . My spiritual teacher used to say that God has given many possible spiritual paths to suit the individuals as we are all different and hence different things suit us. Some prefer being blind and that is okay. All rivers in the very end will lead to the same ocean. Focus on you, growing your own love, peace and connectiveness.
