I would argue Custom Explo absolutely deserves a spot on this list. Everybody saw its kit and immediately disregarded its potential because it would probably turn out like Hydra with Splashdown in S2. But it turns out it’s actually pretty alright

#6 so it’s an honorable mention for sure however, it hasn’t done well in tournaments. It placed in top 16 in Area Cup when it debut but bc Wellstring got top 4 in a recent one, Wellstring took the #5 spot. If that top 4 didn’t happen, cExplo would’ve been #5.

I feel like cexplo doesn’t really work with the criteria since the only reason cexplo is good now is cause of the splashdown buff and at the beginning of the video he stated that a weapon wouldn’t be on here if buffs were the main thing that made the weapon better

Complete tangent, but the CDS Turf War comment got me thinking. I suspect the reason we never got Splash with Zipcaster and proceeded to never get a single shooter with that special is because it would probably be a menace in Turf War. Just zipping straight over to enemy spawn and using the high effeciency and paint output to just turf everything would probably be a problem, and makes up for Splash being a middling fighter and goes against the cool image of a fighting Splash we probably have in our heads. Even if that's only a TW problem, thats a problem Nintendo cares about. But that's just a theory...

I think part of the surprising synergy that rapid pro deco has is that it's also an AoE weapon. Makes scoring follow up hits on people tagged by a direct or the trail a lot easier when you can chase them down around a corner. The biggest weakness of angle shooter i think is generally a difficult time getting those follow up hits on the weapons that have a direct fire attack (please Nintendo buff the paint it puts under someone when you direct them i think that would be so helpful)

Id argue that pencil without the buffs it still be high tier, they weren't the real reason that it was a competitive nightmare. Its cooler. To show how much it's because of cooler, the other one despite being high tier (im using prochara as a source) its never used Edit: should've said so specifically but it's more specifically it's cooler spam, especially since the other pencil has Strom and that's not really a special that's in high demand enough to trade cooler spam for

More specifically, its cooler output. Cooler itself isnt necessarily a problem, pencil just has a really high cooler output

Ngl I feel like big swig express is underrated. Not great or anything but it’s definitely not complete garbage like everyone says. I find it to be a good support weapon that can still be threatening with its vertical flick, and it fits how I want to play the game so I’m definitely biased toward it. And angle shooter really isn’t a bad sub at all, it does damage and scans enemies and can paint your feet, I really like it on swig.

@@cosmy false, You could make an argument for burst bomb or wall, but there is no other sub that would do better than angle shooter or burst for Big Swig, the amount of times angle shooter is better than burst in situations like when you vertical flick, deal about 60-70 damage then immediately use angle shooter. It is a combo that can threaten aggressive backlines. People say it is a bad weapon & it has an extremely high skill ceiling. You don't see many people use it, but when you do they suck at the weapon. Also, I say Dart is better than Burst personally because Dart is 40% tank vs 45% tank and Dart travels further than E-liters. (that sounded 🤓)

I also play swig and think line marker is just weird for the weapon. It doesn't help in team fights, what a support wants to do. Its inconsistent and can't extend kill ranges. It can't hit over ledges easily to extend the strength of one of swigs few strengths. A burst would be better beyond any measure. And before you ask yes I play swig in comp and have labbed this out way more than I should have.

@@blackwidowpowersports6037exactly! I love dart on it for all those reasons. I’ve never had a true main before swig express came out. It is the first weapon I five starred in this game and it’s my favorite weapon in the series by far

One of my mains was Rapid Pro Deco in S2 and I enjoy Angle Shooter, so learning it was going to get Angle made me excited because RPD struggles with painting under itself and a chip sub to combo with direct was huge. I’m glad all 5 of us Rapid Pro mains were wrong about Angle on the weapon

Wouldn’t wiper be on this list too? since pre 2.0 everyone thought it was ass then after 2.0 it became one of the best weapons in the game

It fell off quite a bit after the start of cooler/midline meta. The aggro qr niche is something that every weapon can do now, and everything just outclasses wiper's fast strafe speed

That buff helped it a lot honestly. Just ask any wiper player the difference between the two. One of my former teammates is a wiper one-trick & he agreed the weapons are not the same.

I know this sounds really odd, but i dont remember people thinking reeflux is good when the game first came out. Then it proceeds to be a top competitor in the competitive turf war, even AFTER the missle nerf. I guess if you wanna argue that it gotten buffs so it cant be on the list sure, but i would still say its #6 or 7

Cexplo, RB, tent maybe foil squeezer, could argue early stamper cause no one understood the actual monster it was lol. Though a lot of those weapons come from early bias either from s2 or early s3 in the case of tent

I would also put Custom Explosher on the list. I still remember when the Fresh Season 2024 trailer dropped and every splatuber made a video moaning about how bad the weapon kit was. But after the T.S.D. buff its been getting more traction lately.

Moral of the story: Don't judge a book by its cover, a Wellstring by its stamp, a Rapid Pro by its angle shooter and so on and so forth. Some weapons may just surprise you with what they can pull off

I was a bit wary of Wellstring, but after playing it, I REALLY like it, specifically C.Wellstring. I love playing support, especially if I can flex into a more aggressive play style, and this weapon scratched that itch for me. I haven’t been this exhilarated since Custom Jr.!

is custom explo not here??? thats like the number one weapon i think of it wasnt good at release and it was propelled a lot by the splashdown buff but it was still suuuper underrated from the start

Good video, I jusy have one point at the end I think should be clarified. We don't know if 52 is still Nogami's favorite weapon. The interview that stat comes from is from 2015, but in an interview one year later, he says it's splat charger. I think it's kind of misinformation and it can be damaging to say that 52 is so overtuned because Nogami likes it so much (For clarity, not a defender. I don't like the weapon that much)

A quad is a quad, I don’t care if its an aerospray or a trizooka, people should be allowed to celebrate. Plus, the one in the video is pretty impressive imo, they successfully 1v1 a zipcaster, have really good reactions to catch the splattershot, have amazing movement to be able to directly contest the heavy edit, and most of their team is dead the whole time.
