Every year end, most of the online media have one video - LG V** most underrated phone of the year. Where are those LG's marketing teams?

One of those rare LG v40 reviews and still managed to skim over its best feature, audio performance. Its like tech reviewers are the absolute opposite of an audiophile.

Finally someone who rates the V40! LG V40 for my Smartphone of Year AND Most Underrated Phone of 2018. That amazing Quad Dac, DTX 3D Surroundsound, Boombox speakers and wide angle camera seperates it from the rest. I want to charge my phone AND listen to great audio at same time (very invalauble these days!) OLED 1440p screen is glorious. Wireless charge and IP68. Build quality is very nice too. OK battery life but I can forgive it for the fast charge. And massive discounts this holidays, worth every penny! If only this runs stock anroid, this would be the perfect phone.

Finally a tech reviewer who takes time to do a review of lg v40 unlike many top reviewer who just gave hands on video as their reviews

For the last 3 years or so, it seems LG has been making "the most underrated phone of the year" for each year. Aren't they tired of that designation yet?

Why do LG always have the most underrated flagship phone every year?

This edges out my S9+ in audio quality and camera options. I love this phone, seriously.

I went from a V30 to a V40 and noticed right away the screen quality was a lot better and the image quality with my pictures were also better. Also battery life and app retention in memory are stellar. I already thought the V30 was awesome but the V40 is freaking amazing. I just had to get over my hate with phones that have notches to realize it, but now that I use this phone on the day to day, I see no need to upgrade to anything else. It's a keeper.

I would take this over a 6T. Headphone jack and proven water resistance plus storage expansion for a little more than the 6T ? Easy decision

I've had the lg q6 since it's launch in july 2017. I drop this phone every single day without casing and screen protection. It's like caterpillar shoes, it's like a tank... They make good phones. I like the screen the most.

Great triple camera set up including Wide Angle Lens, Quality DAC, Headphone Jack, Great Speaker, SD Card support (it’s just so much easier and cheaper to get an SD Card for more storage rather than having to buy a new phone just to get additional storage), FM Radio, ip 68 water and dust resistance, Great Build Quality (MIL-STD-810G compliant) Bluetooth 5, Fingerprint Scanner, Wireless Charging... and a Fast Charger included the box. Ticks so many boxes. Nice one.

Totally digging my V40. Great battery life, great screen, but still relatively thin/light.

Does v40 have raw format recording? LG-Log file in cine video mode? or does it only adds color filter over video?

Is there any way whatsoever to operate the video recording on this phone by remote, or by voice recognition?

Love mine. Tons of ways to takes pics and the boom box speaker is way louder and I can finally hear direction in my loud off-road Cherokee, yes there are off-road maps so you don't go off the trail.

Lg v40 or note 9

I was having trouble deciding between the note 9 this and the pixel but I'm glad I went with a v40 I think it's the best phone out there

I still have my v40 got it 3 months after it came out for half price it's been absolutely amazing the Quad HD is basically a higher resolution than any phone coming out today except the ultra and the Sony Xperia these phones are criminally underrated

I just love the bokeh, the lens flare and the translucent and the cinematic soft film look texture it produced. The s10, nokia s9 and iphone xs cannot produced. The V40 produced such professional image.

I wanted to buy this phone, but it wasn't available in Mexico, the V30 / V35 were not available neither, but the V10 and V20 were, and I don't know why, I had both of the V phones that were available in Mexico, but because the 40 wasn't available I went with the Mate 20 Pro. The 3 cameras in that specific configuration were a must to me.

Ive had my G6 almost 2 years now...so far so good for the most part

It's just the relatively small battery for the size 3,300 MaH battery keeping me away from it the Achilles heel. Despite it losing the headphone jack, I'ma pick up the 6T tomorrow

last 3 months, came from IPhone 6s, to LG-V30 then jumped at a LG-V40, and here I stay, enjoying the huge display and hoping to get used to it's bigger size, as I pack it around with me all day..if so its here I stay for beyond the V50 or S10 model until something better than those.

And the most underrated phone of 2019 is LG V50!!!! I can see the future 😈😈

Cost nearly as much as a Note9 and has a NOTCH. V35 is 549 +free vr headset at BH. w the SD845+6GB Mem... *EDIT* a couple days now it's 499 + Free Google Daydream VR Headset. Excellent size, easy to carry, slim. The only thing I miss is the IR blaster. Cams are good for daily photos. For real shoots use/buy/rent a Medium format or a decent DSLR + lenses + light setups and stop complain ;)

I feel like wanna switch my p20 pro to LG. Maybe next year... Notchless will be great. When i went to buy the p20, there also G7 thinQ at same price but i see it has small 3k mah battery and no LG centre at malaysia for rma thats what keeps me away.

This phone has gotten markedly better since I purchased it in February all the updates and now it's on pie life is good not one problem since I bought the phone

great quality review as for the v40, just one look at the UI make me glad I didn't bought it

the problem is their pricing.. 1st day launch 100% price.. 6 months after, they sell it 60-70% from initial price.. as a buyer, i would wait lg product a few months later.. but it is a flagship, the buyer need the prestige for more than 6 months.. i think if LG's pricing competitive with oneplus it would be good.

I just bought my first Samsung since the galaxy 3. Kinda ashamed but it's the stylus functionality - it works wonders for my job. I have consistently rocked a LG phone for the last 5 years - but not being able to TOUCH one in person at Verizon made it really difficult to be able to pull the trigger this year.

Why is there a chin. My xs max has no chin. Is there a reason

still never gonna beat the v20 for me until i can remove the battery and replace in a few seconds. i love the ability to swap in a 10,000 mah replacement when i need to go somewhere without power for a long time, and be able to swap in a stock battery when i want a nice relatively thin device

Just got this phone a couple of weeks ago after dropping my 2.5 year old LG v20 in the pisser, causing it to bootloop endlessly. So far I'm loving the phone! It is sharp & fast but most importantly, they have immensely improved their speakers! Before going LG v20, I was a die-hard Samsung Galaxy Note guy. I started off with Note 2, & then would basically upgrade each year, thus owning Note 3, Note Edge, & then Note 5! I loved those phones but one thing that always pissed me off was how shitty their speakers were. So as soon as I got my Notes I'd instantly go onto XDA & find out how to root them so that I could tweak the volume decibels passed what is normally allowed! During this time I remember a friend of mine had an LG v10 I believe & his speaker was super loud & so when it was time to upgrade my phone again, instead of going to the next Note model after my Note 5, I decided to go for the LG v20! Unfortunately once again the speakers weren't up to par like they were on my friend's LG v10, however they were a bit louder than all my past Notes plus I was able to install a couple of apps, one was a Volume Booster & the other was a Volume Booster with an Equalizer & together after disabling the MusixFX.apk I was able to boost the speakers without having to root the darn thing! After that the only real issue I had was with the battery life, plus the ram speed due to all the stupid system apps running plus all of the apps I installed & even with an auto ram booster, a no-root app force closer, & also havingas many unused system apps disabled as possible I'd still have occassional ram & battery issues with each passing months. I did buy a couple of extra batteries that I would interchance plus I had a really good dual external charger, so all in all I used the crap out of the LG v20 even with all those issues mentioned, plus with a cracked screen I got after 1 year of usage. Finally 2.5 years later the pisser did me in & I had to upgrade. So naturally I'd to choose between the LG v40 ThinQ or Samsung Galaxy S10+ since the Note 9 was almost a year old & the Note X hasn't been released yet for Sprint as of end of March when I was at my local Corporate Sprint Retailer. Even though I really liked the screen color richness of the Samsung Galaxy S10+ compared to the LG v40, I decided to go with the LG v40 because the price was a couple hundred dollars cheaper, plus I got hooked up with an even cheaper finance monthly payment of $25/month for 18months plus 6 extra months to keep the phone in a finance to own plan. Plus it came with a nice Otter Box heavyduty case with a lifetime warranty plus a glass screen protector! Anyways, I've been using it for a couple of weeks now & I honestly LOVE IT! Not much of a photographer so I couldn't care less about the 5 cameras, though I guess it's a cool feature to have. What I'm stoked about is how loud the speakers are & how rich the sound is. The phone is really fast too. Overall, I'm stoked! Definitely recommend!
