I really disliked Sleeping with sirens but when I heard that ambient lead riff I gave them another chance and listened to them again. I still hate them, but your riff is pretty dope :)

Why didnt you like SWS? Not here to argue just curious because it seems a lot of people are like meh when it comes to them from what i saw and i loved their music and while their last few albums i see why theyre not as liked, the new song was praised and i dont get why. They had a metalcore sound but their lyrics seemed to be more emotional so idk.

Brady Bigbear exactly! A bassist’s job is to help lay down groundwork for a song, while also not getting in the way of the guitarist, or the vocalist. The job is similar for drums.

One of my favorite stereotypes is what friends and I referred to as Of Mice & Men theory. Open note chug pattern played tightly Same pattern but let notes ring Same pattern on single string Same pattern on first fret In literally any order

@@CletoFrost The chug chug and dissonance was basically what every scenecore MxC band strived for lol. The scene Metalcore bands took those elements from the likes of Norma Jean, Everytime I Die, Poison The Well, & Hopesfall.

Man, I just came across your video and I gotta say. I love the comedic aspect of this although it is so true. I do the same I make random pop punk and post hardcore songs with this methodology here it's pretty nice to put names to the technical aspects of the guitar that we approached. I'll be sure to follow both of you guys just for the personality even beyond the technical skill. Keep it up

@BleeZard Yeah but this "second-wave" metalcore post-hardcore has like 0 similarities between their predecessor, except for like shouty vocals. Also, I'm pretty sure bands such as At The Drive In got a decent amount of attention.

I cringe at the fact ppl are so accustomed to referring to the post-hardcore scene with bands like Counterparts or Beartooth. My perception is molded by Fugazi, Quicksand and At the Drive-In. Does that make me an elitist?

A lot of metalcore bands get labeled post hardcore for some reason I have yet to figure out. Metalcore is such a vague sub genre that it really should have its own clearly defined sub genre/micro genre labels.... and I think that’s why people come up with incorrect labels to define specific styles within it regularly.

Yeah, like the first example reminded me stuff like early Norma Jean, Underoath, or some Poison The Well songs, but then the list went on and it just sounded like modern radio metalcore with a few exceptions
