I usually just tell people to stick with the Nintendo Dock because Nintendo will warranty the bricking issue. Then again I guess you could always just say you were using the regular dock lol. Anyway good video :3

I did my research and pulled the trigger on this one. Skull & Co made sure that it's completely safe to work with the Switch. I have personally used them in my oversea trip. Worked flawlessly. It certainly saved a lot of carrying space there.

I’ve ordered a Genki: Covert Dock. For portability I don’t think you can beat it. They have also done a lot of research to prevent bricking too.

At this point, I really do appreciate these 3rd party docks and how it helps to charge your switch and move it around from TV to TV. This dock being featured today is pretty nice. However, there could be more new portable docks coming in the way so I’d keep an eye out just in case. The Skull and Co Jumpcate dock is amazing that my friend even has one. He can set up his switch on my TV under 7 minutes. It’s quite hassle-free and safer than the others.

Well i somehow i lost my giant chunk of plastic, and original dock lol. But now i have found a trustworthy third party dock im gonna order one today. I really hope this works 😆

I was one of the Kickstarter supporters for this, and it has saved me multiple times as far as taking a dock with me without it being too bulky. Also, unlike the official dock, this can be used for tabletop play as it won’t look for an HDMI feed unless one is plugged in between the dock and input source. I’ve also recased my official dock into a smaller shell, thinking that it would also work as a tabletop play option, but unfortunately because of how the dock’s motherboard works, as soon as you dock the Switch into it, the Switch immediately tries to look for a video out feed from a TV or monitor, even without an HDMI cable plugged into the dock. The Skull & Co. dock will also fit into the middle compartment of the carrying case they sell, albeit a bit snuggly.

I'm so glad that you made a video on this! I've been waiting to hear about any new updates on some older 3rd party docks to see if they would be fixed or not. But I'm so glad that this is out now! I'm really considering buying it as a second, more portable dock. Now I know the person to go to for Nintendo Switch Tech Support. 😂😉

I have a USB C cable that came with my LEPOW 15.6 portable display that I can run off my Sense 8+ 30,000 mah battery. The USB C will dock the switch directly to the portable monitor. Or you can use the HDMI from the Switch dock to the mini HDMI port on the monitor.

I never trust third party accessories lol I'll spend the extra money to safe on stress P.S. Your Zelda amiibo are sick!

I bought a 3rd party HDMI adapter on amazon for $20.97. The seller name was yaeye. It does work. Only problem was when it heated up from use, it would not work sometimes.

I know it is a old video, but how can the official Nintendo dock cause bricking? I never heard of the official dock doing that.

I've been using the C-Force CF003 dock for over a year and it's been really good. It's very portable, which is great for me because I take it to other places on holiday, or to friend's houses. I use it for Samsung DeX as well.

I've been using it for months I take it everywhere with me. Got it from the original release on on kickstarter. Haven't had a single issue with it. Dock it at work, the inlaws pretty much anywhere. So I completely agree and they test it every time a new update comes out. The other thing not mentioned is it gets rid of the heat build up issue with the original dock. Since when you pop it up it let's the switch breath. Which is a major fail of the original dock which caused the bending issue with heat build up.

I've never even heard of this dock until now. I have been wary of using any third party docks, but it would be really nice to have one a portable one to take with me. I play docked probably 80% - 90% of the time.

The jump gate dock is safe. I’ve watched thier video on what causes the bricking. And thiers behaves exactly the same as the oem dock

Is this dock still working for you with no issues as far as bricking, charging, and tv connectivity? Would you recommend buying the set that comes with the usb-c extender? How is the heat dissipation?

One of the reason regular usb C hubs doesn’t work with switch is because the Nintendo switch dock is not technically usb C compliant. The reason why it’s easy to remove the switch from its dock is because the male usb C on the dock is smaller than standard. Therefore making it possible to remove with one hand. This is a conscious choice from Nintendo. In addition to that, since the dock has an upscaler it draws more power when docked, which is also not usb C compliant. But the firmware on the switch has been updated, so most docks should not brick the switch. But Nintendo hasn’t officially claim that yet.

What about The gulikit dock. I havent heard any issues with that. I saw someone saying jumpgate bricked their switch, so should i buy jumpgate or gulikit. (Gulikit is 20$ cheaper tho)

Personally I like the official Nintendo dock. I've not had any problems with it and yeah while it might scratch my screen I could care less (maybe) because I mostly play docked anyway. I would love if Nintendo actually made a dock where it wouldn't scratch your screen because I'm a little reluctant on purchasing third party docks. But great review!

Thank you for your information, so i bought that one. And here is my question. Do the usb ports work when the jumpgate dock mode? (not a portable hub mode) There is no effect on power and TV connection, but there is no response from usb port. However, it works when connected in core mode. Is there a problem with my machine?

Awesome! Also, got an idea: What if you use the core drive dock of the Jumpgate with the Hori multiport usb stand as an alternative setup? Could it work and make it safer along with having 2 extra usb 2.0 ports?

I personally only use my Switch docked. I have the dock crammed in sort of a tight space in my AV setup, which makes docking kind of awkward, so I'm kind of interested in third party docks, but it's not a big deal to me since I use the Switch exclusively like a traditional console.

I really want a Mac for christmas, I know that doesn't really have to do with the video but my windows 9 is so slow and a laptop would be great. So, to summarize this video: -The Skull & Co dock is great, it has been rigorously tested and it shown to be safe. -You still shouldn't use it, though, as your main dock, only use the official Nintendo one for that. But still use this at least sometimes. -But it is good to use as a permanent dock so that you can dock the Switch with a grip case attached to it. So use it as your main dock. -But it's still dangerous to use as your main dock because it is still an unofficial 3rd party dock. Plus you have to use two hands to undock it, which is bad for some reason (even though, while not explicitly stated in the video, it's probably still a good idea to use two hands to remove it from the official dock since, as IS stated in the video, there is the risk of scratching the screen on it). -But it is good to use as a replacement for the official dock because it's cheaper. But you still shouldn't use it in place of the official dock. So be sure to buy it and use it, but proceed with caution and maybe give it some second thoughts. It works great as USB hub for your computer! I'm not trying to be mean with this comment. I understand that despite this seeming to be a quality product but all indications so far, it's still best to be careful since it is an unlicensed dock, and others have been known to cause problems. I just found the somewhat contradictory back and forth statements to be kind of funny. I personally bought one of those 3rd party shells a while back that allow you to take the internal components of the official dock and put them in a much smaller casing with no risk of scratching the screen. So that way it's still otherwise using all of Nintendo's OEM electrical components. Even though I had the dock that came with my Switch, and even though my intent was for this smaller form version to be a permanent replacement for a full sized dock, I still wanted to keep my original dock intact both just to have it and also in case I botched the conversion (which thankfully I didn't and it worked just fine). So I actually bought a "used" dock from ebay for about $40. It didn't come with any of the cords, but I didn't need them anyway, and I don't think it was actually used very much if at all. It was likely just someone parting out the contents and components included with the Switch to try and make a profit off of the purchase of the system. It worked out for me.

I ordered mine a while back from their website and it just shipped out today. I really want one for my home set up because using the original dock with the Skull&Co gripcase blocks off the USB ports for GC adapters and this one won’t. Have you tried using a GC adapter with your jumpgate?

First of all great video! I tried the dock and it killed my switch on an instant. I can’t charge or turn on my switch anymore. Also I used the official Nintendo Charger and I only used the dock as an charging stand. It wasn’t even connected to the tv. Just glad it didn’t kill my MacBook... just go with the original guys. You’ll safe yourself some stress and time. Sitting here with no money and a broken Nintendo switch -.-

The only reason why this dock is not king is because of the price there is no way I'm paying £40 for the dock. For that type of money, I will just buy a second-hand original switch dock.

Hi! My PC monitor screen is still using a VGA cable. Is it still possible to use this dock? I have a cord that converts the VGA cable to HDMI, so this is the one that connects to the dock.

Can't lie the dock looks promising. If I got it, it would probably be my main. The thing is I lost £25 that I was gonna use on switch stuff. It's kinda annoying but now imma have to work hard and find new ways to make money so I can make it back because imma not wait weeks to get back the pocket money I lost. Every time I watch a switch video it reminds me of the money I lost. Just to let people know (if anyone is reading this) I didn't write this for pity I just wanted to get it off my chest. 😥

Mine doesn't seem to be able to porperly connect with the skull and co grip.. Even tho it's advertised to do so... It seems the border is to thick so that de usb c doesn't go in far enough
