Eh, it's not really that bad as people make it and boast about it for some reason. If you don't want trouble, you'll be fine, I go with friends to Partizan games for a long time and we never had any issues, derby can be tricky but other than that blah I've been to games all over Europe, even NL, Groningen v Partizan 10 ish years ago, and there were Dutch guys that were down to fight some, but Police was all over the place, you can get into trouble anywhere. Main problem with football in Serbia is not some danger, just really shitty quality of it lol

Had a similar experience in Colombia. I was rooting for Pablo’s team DIM who were facing their rivals. They don’t let the rivals into the stadium due to fighting so a third of the stadium was just completely empty. Pregame was amazing. This drunk 16 year old and some other locals let me rip aguardiente with them for like two hours. Fantastic experience.

I've been to 5 derbies so far. You just have to blend in the best you can and don't do anything stupid. First time i went was almost 20 years ago, went to Zvezda's stadium and i was in a stand full of both fans, one Partizan fan asked me which team i support, i didn't know what's the best to say and i said nobody. He cursed me up and down the whole game. Luckily it stayed at that.

Really cool dude, I love learning about massive rivalries. If you're ever in Germany, I suggest attending the St. Pauli v. Hamburger SV derby. Super passionate derby with a super interesting history. Basically the people of Hamburg vs. the rich people who try to buy success and gentrifying the area. St. Pauli is partially owned by the people of Hamburg like most German clubs, but bigger clubs like Hamburger SV fought to change the rule and failed creating even more hatred between the clubs.

Was this the game from September? I have been trying to plan a trip to Belgrade to the Red Star home leg of the derby in February. My Serbian friends are too afraid to go and they complain that it's "too cold" in February despite that we are from the Midwest.
