I listen to one of the worship leaders from IHOPKC stand up and give her testimony and she actually said she has no idea how her life has ended up so empty and that she thought she was doing the right thing by not getting married even though she had had many proposals. I have contemplated whether or not this is spiritual abuse because this particular worship leader came to IHOP KC when she was very young enter music is highly anointed. She was given an apartment to live in live in right on the IHOPKC property. She's getting older now and wonders if it's all been God's plan.

Do you think when the LORD asks why we didn't do as He told us in His Word and we say that it is because of wrong teaching and false prophets, that will be an acceptable excuse?? Do you suppose He might ask us if we spent as much time studying the Word, worshipping and drawing close to Him and praying in the Spirit as we do watching television, following our favourite movie and sports stars, or cruising around on the Net, that we should have been deceived? According to Eph. 4 the fivefold are not the ones who do the work of ministry which is building up the body until we become fully mature, that is clearly what the believers are to be doing. Church is not supposed to be a spectator sport, we are to be the ones who build each other up, that is not the function of the pastor. According to 1 Cor.14 we ALL are supposed to play a part in our services, that is not the job of the pastor. Each one of us, before we come together are to have been in study and prayer so that each of us has something to share when we come together. If you study Eph 4 and 1 Cor. 14 it is clear the thing we call church is totally upside down and WE are the ones to blame not some false pastor or teacher. Clearly if WE were doing our job and playing our part, a false prophet wouldn't last through one meeting. No, blaming the bad teacher or pastor or prophet is not going to excuse a lazy, lukewarm body of believers who are far more to blame than the pulpit person. The letter to the Laodicean church could be carbon copied and delivered to the church in the USA today. There is a word from the LORD and that word is REPENT. WE are the problem for not spending enough time doing as the LORD told us, for if we had, false teachers and prophets would be recognized the first time they opened their mouth. How can anyone claim to be Christian for years and years and years and not be able to tell the real from the counterfeit?? Think about it.

Awful stories. Could we find tragic stories in other churches in KC or other cities, mainline denominations, etc? Just wondering.
