in the '70s...a good friend told me about "reggae"...it was strange to my ears at first... . but loved it immediately..it is my soothe...we were avid smokers, kids, really......it became my way to calm..my way to gather strength for the next battle... my way to connect... Unknowing at the time , my first hint of raggea was Sublime. Such a kid I was. Thought they were original, later down D road I was skooled by the masters of what was truth in that. A st. Croix roots band Deserie was first dose of soul connection I was blessed experience in this lifetime . Wow. Then good ole Toots and the Maytals .. blessED double wowza! Then back to back was all the Marley boys. That's when I found out who Bob was. And thennnnnn... life never been the same. It was like i had found my long lost brother in raggea. The Rebels now with a purpose. Bob you still with me heavy. To all the new world cali vibes raggea.. well I am simply in love. Easy breezy just like wheezy in the sea breeze and redwood trees! Me and best friend used to exchange music almost daily. He passed away a CPL years ago, shortly after this came on my suggested, I listened to it and went to send it to him on instinct, just cried instead tho but that's just love. While on break from a job i am working on in Bonita. I found a nice tranquil spot in sit back to eat lunch and enjoy a smoke. The area is just beautiful on the river with the oak tree canvas and a scene that thisa collier native can only describe as home. Anyway all of a sudden music filled the air. Ended up sugar shack is right across the river. Wow what a mixture true south florida landscape with music that matched it so well i could only describe as heaven on earth. Hope timing works out to where i will be working next the same time that there is a band playing.
