Great video, I was debating on this mobo vs the x570 from gigabyte, but after seeing the layout, boy I am glad I picked the gigabyte one it may not have a thunderbolt connection, or their fan ports aren't the best but for my nr200p works perfect.

I've used both the MSI and Gigabyte boards and agree with your assessment. Also worth noting the MSI only has 1 video out via HDMI, which kinda sucks for APU builds.

you can press and hold the power switch for 10 seconds to perform a clear CMOS.

yeah i pretty much agree with your assessment of the board. I tried a mild o/c on my ram(i'm definitely not an over-clocker at all - the original ram I bought for this system(3600mhz) was too tall to fit and was hitting my cpu air-cooler) My board froze up - I needed to clear the cmos - I took the entire system apart to get at the cmos pins...ffs And, to make matters worse, clearing the cmos did not solve my problem....the search continues... thanks for posting

Currently trying to decide between this and the ASUS board as I want the usb-c front header. Just can't decide between the active VRAM cooling from Asus vs active m.2 cooling on the MSI. I don't want active cooling on either of them (which the Gigabyte board has, but no usb-c front header). Then there's also the issue with the backplate on the MSI board. MSI has fixed their clear CMOS issue though, the new MAX version includes a button, but older non-MAX versions are shipping with the I/O shield punched out for the CMOS jumper access. So while watching this video I'm kinda ruling out the MSI board. So I guess Asus b550I or... go a little bigger with the Crosshair Impact.

This is a side question that has nothing to do with this exact video but do you think you could do a Ventus 3080 thermal pad replacement and compare the temps? I have seen a few other videos where users have done this and it seems to make a significant difference to the overall thermals of this particular card. They do not however put the level of detail that you do in your videos so its unknown how their thermals were prior to testing/game performance. More importantly to me I would like to see how the thermals compare in the nr200 case (since I have this card and case myself). My thermals suck.

Any idea why this mobo gets issues when using a pcie exstension (gpu is 4.0 and exstension is 4.0, second exstension i have tried now) because if i dont limit the pcie to 3 lanes, the entire computer laggs/freezes and or crashes. Any clue? Is there a fix?

I also own this Mobo in my NR200. It's overall great but... DO NOT update to the latest Mobo update. My ram can't XMP at 3200 :( with the new update. Also the CMOS button. So glad you mentioned it ... I used glue on a screwdriver to pull it out 😂.

Wow this is my mobo with 5800x and nr200. Do you think noctua nh-u12a or scythe fuma2 the best choice for this mobo, 5800x and nr200? Because in my country if you buy something online you cannot return it if it just wrong choice decision, i'm afraid it can't fit with my build and perform the same or worse than my scythe mugen 5. Nice video by the way.

If you can get the U12A I would go straight there. The Fuma will need a fan upgrade to perform well, and that puts the cost higher. Keep in mind though, the U12A is only "unofficially" working in the NR200, although generally speaking with the vented panel I have seen very good compatibility.

@@MachinesMore Thanks for your advice, in my country U12A and fuma2 the price difference is 34usd, i will take U12A for my peace of mind. By the way, your video about mini itx helped me a lot, especially on nr200. Very informative

@Moss yes I would go straight to the U12A, although it would take my PC a little out of theme. The 5800x has brutal performance, but the heat worries me when I game for hours on the weekend. And I want to bring out the full potential of the 5800x. I hope U12A is the answer, thanks for the feedback.

Yes I ordered that one. I know MSI screwed up on the placement of the power and reset pins, but I managed to route the cables under the GPU and is nicely hidden.

Mine died after 1 week of mild gaming, RMA'd it came back and worked for about 3 hours then died again. Wouldnt post past CPU error light. Tried 3 seperate cpus from working computers. It had latest bios update from first day of use. I have to say its hot trash, never RMA'd a part in over 20 years of PC hobbying.
