I wish Disney would do something more with the Muppets. It's something I really love and cherish and there's so many people out there that love it. I understand that Muppets ride may be a little outdated at DisneyWorld.. so I just wish they would do something more.

It definitely needs to stay. Muppet Vision 3D is literally the last time we see Jim Henson and Richard Hunt perform. People are able to go and watch performances recorded by iconic puppeteers who shaped their childhoods, even though they died a while ago. If there is any love for Henson and Hunt, the ride needs to stay. If it doesn't, all the videos need to be released in the best format possible for everyone to see for free.

Resurrecting the great muppet movie ride would be even in the muppets line of comedy. I feel there could be so many opportunities for jokes about how they’ve already made a great movie ride.

I hope it’s relocated rather than closed. It is hilarious and closing it would be kind of disrespectful to Jim Henson’s legacy. Though I’d hope not to Magic Kingdom honestly, because that’s my least favorite Disney park I’ve been to by a long shot.

I'm happy to see the Muppets still putting up such big numbers in the current day, but I really wish Disney would do more with them. The occasional movies are always successful and even people who don't think about the Muppets daily like I do, still love the Muppets when a new movie comes out.

I do agree that the 4D theater aspect is definitely a thing of the past, however, I feel like it’s definitely on the chopping board, but for the time being, it’s definitely not there yet. Also, the fact that you mentioned that Disney plus has everything, That’s technically not true, as two of the multiple muppets movies aren’t even under the Disney belt: muppets take Manhattan, and muppets from space, as they are under Sony. Which is pretty weird tbh.

As much as I fear that Disney will one day shutdown Muppet Vision 3D, I'll admit that it's becoming more and more of an inevitability. Being sandwiched between a ride and an entire land based on the biggest film franchise in history pretty much sealed its fate. Though I'll miss the ride, and to a lesser extent Mama Melrose, and to a MUCH lesser extent, PizzaRizzo, I do think that Muppet fans and Disney fans, alike, would gain more then they would lose if Disney did what you described. Especially when you remember there's a huge swath of land right behind Star Wars Launch Bay that they can turn into an entire Muppets Land. I really love your idea of Disney reviving the The Great Muppet Movie Ride concept for such a land. Especially if they could exploit another loophole in Universal's Marvel contract, and make Muppet versions of MCU movies. An MMCU, if you will.

When I went to Hollywood studios it was basically empty apart from one cast member. The reason is because it’s just tucked away and I had trouble finding it. It makes sense to get rid of it.

Yeah, the attraction needs to be preserved at the very least because it was the last time Jim and I believe Richard Hunt as well performed their characters.

This ride is hilarious after all these years and a great 3D ride but as you said has been here for ages so no surprise seeing it retire. I do like the concept of having the great movie ride as the Muppets.

As a former Magic of Disney Aninatjon cast member, who is STILL very salty about them closing it for Launch Bay, I happily accept this suggestion.

I know that Princess and the Frog will be taking over Splash Mountain, but gosh I’d love to see a world where they transformed that into a Muppets ride.

I remember when the director of the Muppets comeback film was interviewed, he mentioned that disney were tapping him up and asking which sections of that film would make a great ride. So it has been on their agenda for a while. I would think filming a new 4D ride would make more sense and be more cost effective, you could reuse some of the mechanics that are currently there. I think muppets haunted mansion was pretty popular and so maybe a ride which riffs on all the most popular disneyworld rides could work. Maybe a muooet tour of disneyworld. You could add re-ride-ability by randomising the tour each showing. I think if you add a meet and greet in this area and an updated ride you could get footfall back and have two "people eaters"

Super smart idea, I'd love to see this happen! I'd also be okay with them saving some cash by just moving MuppetVision to the 4D theater at the Imagination Pavilion - no one would be upset about the Disney and Pixar short films going away, 'Muppet Labs' sort of fits in with themes of imagination and innovation, and they've already had the Muppet Mobile Lab roam around that area

Here's an idea: Instead of doing a ride where star wars launch bay is, why not do another show? Why don't they use actual puppets and do an actual muppet show in a recreation of the muppet theatre with pre-recorded dialogue from the real puppeteers. Wouldn't that be a huge hit with the public? Could you imagine the excitement kids will get from going to see the real muppets

Everyone wants an original triology theme area! Soemthign they have seen on the films. Like the Harry Potter world. Also maybe a mandalorian ride since it’s so popular.

I think that's a good idea. the other ideas I like is Muppets restaurant, Muppets stunt show, Muppet labs , muppets sing along and a muppet creation shop but Muppet5s doing parody along side celebrities is what they do best. Even if they only parody Disney properties it can still work.

As someone, who has watched this Muppetvision show so many times in my life, in this day and age, I'd still pick this theater over the new version of the Kong ride at Universal. I'm not actually fond of the direction that some parks are going with using screens as a form of immersion. I understand that it saves money, but there's something about it that feels off. The Harry Potter rides sort of worked, because they make use of animatronics in an effective way on top of the amazing theming. (Although, the Dementors were sort of underwhelming for me. Heheh...) I had to wait an hour to ride the new Kong ride, and it felt like a disappointment. Ride around for a short bit, stop, be surrounded by screens, and the only caveat is the giant Kong animatronic at the end. The queue line was more interesting for me. Still makes me miss the original version of the ride. You felt a bit more immersed in that version. The Muppetvision is screen based, but it still had animatronics hanging out around that screen and the back of the theater was utilized well. *welps* If it's going to go, I'm going to super miss it. Thank the ride for the many memories and laughs. Whatever may replace Muppets, well..... :(

The only problem right now with the "puppet themed land" is the Disney Junior Dance Party that currently resides in the large building has no puppets. There are 2 costumed characters and everything else is entirely screen based.

It fucking sucks disney has no respect for the muppets, and won't sell the franchise despite them doing nothing with it.

It is now my mission in life to make sure this comes to life. My heart breaks every time I walk into studios & see that my beloved great movie ride is gone.

I would throw my full support behind a Great Muppet Movie Ride attraction in the Studios park. I never thought about building it behind the Star Wars Launch Bay building; it's not a bad idea! In my little imagineering concepts, I toyed with replacing Star Tours with GMMR just because it's so close in proximity (and similar in experience) to Smuggler's Run. Kind of feels redundant to remain as is. However it is very unlikely to get removed, let alone replaced with a Muppet attraction. I know there's also an expansion plot in the parking lot behind Mama Melrose's Restaurant that could house the GMMR show building, so that's another option if they kept Muppets Courtyard as is and decided to expand it. Another idea I had was to retheme Star Tours with Muppets characters, and have it be a parody ride. Something like "Star Tours: The Muppets Strike Back." Since the Muppets Haunted Mansion proved that these characters are great when used within existing Disney properties, I think Disney should explore having the Muppets involved in a Star Wars crossover. Historically the Muppets have many ties to the original Star Wars trilogy/franchise, there's so much unexplored potential!

I would love an expanded Star Wars land, but I also think your idea is practical and awesome.

I just visited Hollywood studios in January and went to this show with the expectations of it being my last time seeing this show. It’s old and while I love the muppets I understand Disney taking this out. It did make me happy to see the muppets are still pretty popular!

Current Disney Parks Operations CM and hopeful Imagineer here, offering my personal feedback based solely on my experience and it is not at all reflective of the Walt Disney Company. Your idea? Spectacular. Incredible. I love it. Logistically... It's not the most feasible, given the layout of DHS. The Great Movie Ride used a LOT of space. Way more than Launch Bay takes up. The Animation Building behind Launch Bay would have to be demolished, along with a lot of other backstage stuff, like training buildings and a parking garage, to make way for the space necessary for a ride of GMR's size. Those backstage buildings are still in use for a lot of behind the scenes stuff that goes on. Hollywood Studios doesn't have a lot of backstage area, so it needs to make use of what it has, and those buildings are very vital to the leadership and training within the park! My solution? Sam the Eagle Presents The Hall of Presidents. Combine what we loved about "Great Moments in History" with Hall of Presidents to make it a truly entertaining show! Imagine Fozzy saying "I'm Teddy Roosevelt, ehh! Get it? Wocka wocka!" or Miss Piggy going full Jackie Kennedy. We can keep all the old animatronics and still have the current president give a speech, but let the Muppets narrate and pop in, maybe even have the presidents interact with the Muppets a little. A good refresh to a classic attraction that needs help bringing more people in.

6 Months later, still nothing... but your idea is honestly the best idea one could ever come up with for this debacle! Honestly, there's nothing I would want more for Disney to do than to do your idea here.

I went to Disney with my family this Christmas break and when I tell you that only my family and two other families went in there, I mean it.

I have been thinking the same thing. They can easily convert what is now the Muppet movie into something with meet and greets (Star Wars), shopping and maybe a restaurant. Basically it would be a place to suck up people and connect Star Tours. My thought was to replace the mermaid with something Muppets since the mermaid is represented at MK pretty well. My cheaper idea would be to at least temporarily turn the launch bay into something dedicated to old characters that can reappear. Maybe add a simple attraction or just use it for meet and greets. Doing up the mermaid with Muppets then doing the meet and greet for a few years would 1. Eat up people and 2. Still allow for what is now the Launch Bay to be turned into something major in 15 years or so. We love the Muppets 4D but mostly for nostalgia and being in AC for a half an hour with no lines. Ultimately a 5th park is needed to cope with the overcrowding with all the additional hotels that have been built. This would at least get people out of the streets.

Honestly, if they really wanted to, they could move Star Tours to Galaxy's Edge and let Muppets take over the Star Tours area. Put the Great Muppet Movie Ride there, plus maybe that scrapped Swedish Chef restaurant concept, and then keep MuppetVision as the smaller ride of the Muppet Studios land. Pretty much just building the Muppet Studios Land they were going to build in the 90s would be perfect imo. They wouldn't have to tear anything down, they'd just have to move Star Tours to the other side of the park. Though you could honestly get rid of Star Tours, there's already a more modern Star Wars themed simulator ride in the park, Star Tours is only around for nostalgia's sake (and yes I know the irony of that statement, given that's probably why MuppetVision hasn't been removed yet).

I think a muppet game show would be a fun and chaotic idea for Launch Bay. Lots of interaction, lots of comedy and a big theatre to eat guests waiting for their ROTR lightning lane.

I don't want the ride to close, but having it come to Disney plus if it did we can finally see a clearer version of the attraction footage, and also have both sides of the footage to be viewable! This is one of my favorite rides, and I do not want to see it go because it is so funny and charming! We must save Muppet Vision 3D! FOR JIM HENSON!

I don’t think Disney likes those check in the mail jokes etc, but this is a brilliant idea! They could even reuse whatever set pieces they *hopefully* saved from The Great Movie Ride! I’ve always thought that ride should have been updated and saved and Runaway Railway should have been put in the location you’re suggesting. Even themed to an animation building where animation was done like it was before. Too late for that. This ideas is a great option now 🙌

I’d love to see a Muppets themed interactive dark ride similar to Toy Story Midway Mania with 3D screens with CGI Muppets along with physical sets, audio-animatronics, and special effects!

I really hope they don't get rid of the attraction, if they want to relocate it or something that's 100% fine, but this was one of the, if not, the very last thing Jim Henson worked on and finished before his passing, it would be disrespectful to his legacy if they got rid of this attraction entirely

Some days, I just wish they'd put the video portions of these rides on video/DVD and call it a day. Yes, you're losing a chunk of the experience, but that's a fair price for not waiting in line for about two hours for a thirty-minute show.

Bummer. I went this weekend past January and it was the only ride at the park we didn’t have to wait 45 minutes to an hour and a half to go on. I loved it and enjoyed it personally more than the rest at the park.

Muppet Vision 3D is one of the best rides anywhere in the Disney World Property. I think we will save this attraction, rather than making it retire forever for Star Wars Galaxys Edge expansion

Would love to see the Muppets expand and get a full land somewhere your idea is a good one and leaves it open to expand it to the remaining show venues if they wanted in future. Wouldn’t mind seeing an entire muppetland take over that courtyard area as a whole. Another idea would probably be unpopular, but if they wanted to get rid of IPs they don’t own and revamp rides like they have at other parks, the end of Sunset Boulevard could become a Muppet land. Tower of Terror is a hotel run by the Muppets and their hijinks cause the elevator to go crazy. RnR becomes a Muppet studio with Electric Mayhem, and could add a dark ride, maybe even Great Muppet Movie Ride next to it where the Cars theatre is. As much as I’d hate to lose the current Tower of Terror it could be a fun change that would still fit.

Putting this on DisneyPlus? Not gonna happen. Even Disney knows this wasn't meant to be watched on a television screen. Not to mention, putting the Muppets in an area that would be dedicated to puppets on their own would only insult Jim and his desire to not regulate The Muppets to children's entertainment. If you were to shut down MuppetVision 3D in favor of a new attraction, you would not only lose Jim's last project but you would also lose any kind of authenticity left from him and Frank's work. As much as people love the Muppets, they are sticklers for the original puppeteers and voices that they grew up with. As grateful as they will (probably) be to have a new Muppet show, they would much prefer to have something that feels authentic to them. You take that away and you have yet another empty husk. If Jim were still here, I might be in favor of this idea. But seeing how he's not, we need to not think about replacing things and be grateful for what we still have. At the end of the day, it all comes back to Jim. If Disney is smart (I know) then they won't dare touch that attraction.

I loved working this attraction at DCA, it was so calming and relaxing, almost zen.

I always thought they should remove Star Tours from Hollywood Studios. It’s not well attended and the comedic theming doesn’t fit with the Galaxy Edge rides. It works well in Tomorrowland at Disneyland, but not Hollywood Studios. I would honest just redo that whole section of Hollywood Studios from Indian Jones, to Star Tours, to Muppet 3D. There are more exciting attractions now days.

Disney should make a crossover with the Muppets, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Simpsons,The Boondocks and the Forever War and make it the Avengers but it's among media involved by alumni of the University of Maryland. Then the Muppets can be popular again.

This’ll probably sound subjective, but an indicative sign of “Muppet*Vision 3D” wearing out its welcome in recent years is Waldo himself. Granted, a computer-animated Muppet was remarkable for when the ride opened, especially given Pacific Data Images’s involvement with designing the visual effects. But in hindsight, that concept amounted to little more than a gimmick that inevitably wore thin.

Save the money spent on licencing Rock n Roller Coaster to Aerosmith, and retheme it to Electric Mayhem, then plant some trees and add an Endor Speeder Bike coaster. You're welcome, Bob.

It’s so sad that the muppets have never been able to find a place in the 21st century and they’ll never reach the heights they once hit, i expect muppetvision will be around for a while, and if nothing else i pray some form of it will be brought to disney plus, while I think a lot will be lost without the out of cinema features but cutting them into the scenes could work

All good points. I've always thought that Muppets 3D was was boring and far too long, especially now since 3D attractions are basically a norm. I hope they take constructive criticism on their recent rides and make something unique, exciting, and hopefully with crowd-handling capacity.

You know the sad part is that they took the one from Disneyland I made that one into a frozen attraction then they just scrapped it hole and just made it mickeys fill tart magic and I miss that attraction because I was my very like first attraction ago when I visited Disney California

The current version of the Disney Junior show does not use puppets. Probably because they don't want to pay the puppeteers.

I love the Muppet Vision 3D and it was my first 3D show I watched when I was a kid!

The muppets have clearly had longevity. I can't imagine these IPs Disney is favoring will have the same future. As you mentioned, Zootopia for example is already less loved than the Muppets and it's newer.

The only problem with the puppet land idea is that Disney Jr is now a dance party type of show and the little mermaid is rumoured to be officially closed.

I love the Muppet ride because it is a break to get out of the heat into air conditioning, it is a relaxing ride and it is something to do after eating lunch that will not upset your stomach.

I can expect 4D motion simulator rides based on Disney properties aside from the STAR WARS franchise like an Aladdin one with magic carpets, a Big Hero 6 Baymax simulator, a Hercules one, etc.!

I do like this idea. Muppets 3D is too much of park staple of Hollywood Studios to get rid of so it would be logical to move it to another part of the park if Disney wants to merge the two Star Wars themed lands into one. On another note: If they do keep Pizza Rizzo’s then they should consider serving real New York style pizza instead of those crumby mini pizzas that nobody really cares for.
