Just want to remind you of this... air/fuel screw only adjusts the mixture at idle, main jet controls the mixture for everything else. Unless your snorkel filter is clogged or really restricted it’s probably lean so you need a bigger main jet. You could also drill and tap the snorkel, then install a fitting and hook the suction side of the catch can to the air filter side of the carb, that will still provide some suction off idle and not cause a vacuum leak. That’s how they set them up from the factory, just without the catch can.

Damn, man. I’ve been with you (subscribed) since you did that video your new racing project back in 2011. When you had like 43K or so and now look at you. Almost to 300K. I’m proud of you man. It seriously made me smile. Keep the content rolling. 👍🏻💪🏻💯

Glad to see it fixed up, If you decide to run your snorkel again I think youll have to rejet your carb, I had to do that when I put a snorkle on my Honda 300 fourtrax, the Airfuel screw just didnt have enough adjustment. I just kept drilling the main jet out with a Numbers drill bit set, they are tiny and go up in really tiny increments. The trick I used to figure it out was Id just put my hand over in the inlet of the snorkel and It would run good, then bog bad when I pulled my hand off. as I kept drilling out the jet I had to cover less and less of it with my hand in order to get it to run right. Ran strong after I got it tuned right.

You have the pulse line on your fuel pump hooked up directly to the intake creating a lean condition because the engine vacuum will suck air through the vent on the fuel pump. The pulse line on that pump in an OEM setup is connected to a crankcase vent built into the dipstick tube and operates on the rise and fall of crankcase pressure as the piston goes up and down.

For the snorkel, connect into full sized pipe then into a tee down to slightly smaller pipes. Doing that and using 45s instead of 90s will allow better airflow.

YESSS THE MURRAY!!!!! Seriously though what about some kind of small (like a bonnet scoop) air intake duct on top of your dash where thy e old choke lever was where the snorkel comes upto... it on top of the dash so would be much better than behind the engine with regards to water and then it would be able to suck enough air? Just a thought... keep up the great work looking forward to the next romp

You had the snorkel on it before and the same problem and the same solution. I think you need bigger pipe and keep it bigger then the intake of the carb. I see areas where it is smaller then the carb. That is like running the choke part way closed. You would have to put a fan in the system to compensate for the smaller pipe and that's not practical.

I built an 810 (49 cube v twin) to the 30hp gross spec , sucker runs great now I need more gear because it just tops right out at around 29 if its not losing traction. I turn mine to around 4500, Briggs makes a 4000 rpm spring kit and I'm going a few hundred over it's range but it seems to be fine.
