The mystery string instrument is a lap harp, or at least something very similar.

Yes I thought the same, some kind of zither. Less likely it could maybe be a hammered dulcimer.

Loved this one! Even though there's not much info on certain races, it still helps paint the picture of TES as a breathing universe. And that argonian instrument is sick.

I can't help but imagine the orcs using throat singing too. Listen to Wolf Totem by The Hu and tell me you can't imagine this being an orcish war chant. Also, I imagine those atmoran mammoth ivory horns to sound something like an alphorn or maybe a Didgeridoo.

If the “key harp” is supposed to be the one pictured when mentioned the proper name would be the Nyckelharpa from Scandinavian folk music.

Orcs are also quite fond of percussion instruments to. There is even an item called the Warcallers Painted Drum in ESO which seemed to have been enchanted by the Orcs using ruins called "Grugde Marks". So those drums were probably used in orcish war chants, also even though we don't have any lore when it comes to thier singing I cant help but imagine that Orcs have a tradition of throat singing with the whole Eurasian Steppe nomad inspiration Bethesda seemed to have taken from when it comes to the Orcs armor and clothing.

You'd think that the Nords would have Gregorian chants as one of their genres of music... If not them, then Bretons would be the next I'd think would employ Gregorian chant as one of their styles.

i would imagine Bosmer music to be pretty similar to Native American music, featuring a lot of group chants, mostly accompanied by very energetic drum beats. Also, pan flute for more intimate lullabies and religious practices, usually played solo or with someone else singing over it.

About that "unknown" intsrument you've asked, I'm a ukrainian and we have that instrument called "цимбали" i tried to translate it in english and translator says that it's called dulcimer. Thete is quita a few different shapes of it but sometimes it really looks like that instrument you've showed
@Vepantteri
@Vepantteri 3 ай бұрын
1:46 isn't that a Kantele? Idk what it is in english but that's what we call it. I think it's Finland's national instrument or something like that.
@Deinareia
@Deinareia 3 ай бұрын
Doesn't it have too many strings? I though kantele has less. I'm guessing it's of the dulcimer family, it has lap variations as well as standing ones. We'd have to know how it is played - hammered or plucked.
@Vepantteri
@Vepantteri 3 ай бұрын
@@Deinareia Yeah, it does look different, but that's what came to mind first. I am not that educated about instruments so, obvs. could be very wrong.

The instrument at 1:40 looks kinda like an autoharp, but I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me if I am. edit: YourWaywardDestiny got it right. Not an autoharp, but a lap harp. There are keypresses on an autoharp, but the instrument in the video has none.
