Mozart may have only completely finished one movement of the Requiem, but he wrote nearly the full choral score for all the way to the Offertory (Domine Jesu Christe), with figured bass, nearly constant Violin 1, and sometimes, orchestration. Hell, he even began an Amen fugue that Sussmayer wasn't skilled enough to finish. That is a LOT more finished than you give the piece credit for.

and Introitus and Kyrie aren't even a single movement. They're more like introduction-fugue, separate movements, kind of like the baroque prelude-fugue form. The Kyrie Fugue, being a double fugue, was one of the hardest parts to write in the piece. It's even listed in the 10 Great Fugues Not By Bach (online article written by Flamehorse in 2012) along with Mozart's own Jupiter 4th movement, Beethoven's Grosse Fugue and Hammerklavier 4th movement. Mozart finished pretty much everything up to Domine Jesu, his original version still sounds great. There is a recording on yt (M_0wBTkkT7U) "W.A. My favourite Mozart piece, and ultimate piano goal, is to play his Sonata for 2 pianos in D together with someone. It's not even crazy difficult, quite achievable :)

I am not sure if you said he wrote the final three symphonies just before he died, but I thought he wrote them a couple years before his death, but either way, they are absolutely incredible

I can play the first movement of K545, I find it very hard to play beautifully. Not hard to play, but to express.

I can't agree more! I've played it and put it aside for now. There are so much things not working like I'd like, but I don't have the level to master those yet. I'll come to that later. But it is a level 8 piece, so no wonder it is not easy at all!

1st thing - remember that if you treat the 1st movement tempo as strict and not mechanical you have that part licked. 2nd thing - remember to treat every phrase as a vocal line. Take a very brief rest between phrases as if they are getting a new breath before singing the next phrase, continue on that way and you will have that part licked.

Not a fan of Mozart's music but i highly respect his prolificness in his works. Just his piano solos alone he wrote more than most other composers. Let alone symphonies and everything else. All before his 35th birthday. Most 35 year olds I know haven't accomplished anything really.

Don't know why so few of my musician friends like mozart, and with such minor enthusiasm compared to Beethoven. I think he is the last boss of music along with Bach, but oh well.

I think that Beethoven’s music is just more expressive.in today’s culture depression is just a big topic. before Mozart’s music was admired for the happy tone but me personally I liked his Sadder sounding music Like the lesser Known Requiem:Lacrimosa/Lacrymosa

i recommend you guys listen to the first movement of the 20th concerto for piano. what you heard here doesnt do it any justice at all, the first movement is where the magic lies.

This host should work off a script. This seems impromptu with lots of errors and awkward turns of phrase. For instance,. Beethoven & Schubert are not Mozart's predecessors. Admire her enthusiasm though. Most people I know are only dimly aware of Western classical music.
