I just bought a bracelet and I keep looking at your website - even if it's only a rough estimate,seeing your pounds of plastic your organization has pulled out gives me hope for the future. If you want to limit the level of plastic in the world even more, I suggest you look into a worm farm for dog and cat feces - instead of taking a plastic bag with you on a dog walk or just dumping the kitty litter into the bin or the garden (though that can be good), take a paper bag or a little shovel with you on your walks (if you have dogs) and put the poop in the worm farm. Rather than let it build up in a landheap somewhere, the worms eat away at it and build it down, there's one less use for plastic bags, and the water from the side of it (excess water or leftovers) when mixed with water makes an environmentally sound fertiliser for the plants. You can also buy worm farms for compost - fruit and vegetable but it's best not to combine the two. Please consider it, every little bit helps, and though, like recycling plastic responsibly rather than just dumping it on the street, on the beach or in the ocean, it may sound hard it's incredibly simple.

As a Floridian myself, I can 100% say that I will support this, or at least try to, and spread the word the best I can. :)

Honestly, if one ton of plastic enters our oceans every SIXTY SECONDS. You should clean more than just one pound. Especially the cost for the bracelet is ridiculous. I don’t know how much money is given to the people who clean the ocean. But judging off most of the trash is cleaned up by countries is poverty, and their payment by the hour is relatively low. I would say that they pocket the majority of the money. If you really want to help the ocean, clean more then a pound. So really your crew is just a mere drop in the ocean. And to those reading, donate to a charity that cleans more than one pound.

Now just imagine how many bottles get full of water and sink to the bottom of the ocean

What about stopping the plastic from entering the ocean by getting it out in the river? Mr Trashweel in Baltimore showed that this can be done relatively easy. So what about placing such things in the rivers? The work would potentially just be relocated, while actually not because there is still stuff in the ocean coming to the shores.

I live in northwest Florida, Destin-Fort Walton Beach, and we have STRICT rules for our beaches. No glass, no dogs/animals unless service, no loud music, no deep holes (mother turtles). Yet i find plastic. You can have food and drinks. Alcohol is against the rules... Kinda. They can be in cans. I bring snacks and water and i pick up trash that is floating near me, we never leave trash on our beaches. Its not difficult.

Wow. One ton of plastic every minute. That's 2,000 lbs of plastic frequently dumped into the ocean. So, 2,000 x 60 = 180,000 & 180,000 x 24 = 4,320,000 & 4,320,000 ÷ 2,000 = 2,160 tons of plastic every day. That's a little disturbing, in my opinion.

Somehow the _real_ unintended long-term consequence is going unnoticed. Plastics are extremely useful and have only been around for about 75 years and already all sorts of microbes are learning to eat them. Before long, the polymers we are using and need to last will just be food for bacteria and fungi that degrade them while we’re still using them. For now these microbes have relatively slow metabolisms and only thrive in aquatic environments but as they get more efficient at eating what we have given them they will start feeding on dry plastics on land and gaining an appetite for newer generations of polymers. Won’t be long now.

My school and I are going to go to a beach to do a cleanup and then make an Art project from the finds!!! Im so excited :D

Those folks in Haiti are going to have to pay some big carbon taxes for doing all that polluting
