Can I just point out that botw's lore seems to be the only time Hyrule is actually prepared for Ganon?
@Solibrae
@Solibrae 5 жыл бұрын
That's the time when Hyrule seems to be the most technologically advanced since the Pre-Skyward Sword era. I guess over all the years, the Sheikah got "Genre Savvy" and knew what was to the come. The appearance of a certain hero might have helped, if Link showed up before Ganon's appearance.
@hikaru9624
@hikaru9624 5 жыл бұрын
@@Solibrae well yeah there is that. But to me it just feels like the people of Hyrule actually took past events seriously enough to actually take Ganon as a threat, I don't mean the shieka or Princess Zelda, but other folk like the King of Hyrule who seemed to do nothing about the reoccurring threat.
@sook-iii
@sook-iii 4 жыл бұрын
however, only the hero of the sky was present to learn about Demise's cyclical curse, so all people later thought "well Ganon almost killed us, that sucks, but it'll never happen again" (as far as they're aware. and yeah they could always ... read a history book, but still, it would explain why. The Shiekah, then, prepared because the Calamity was an on-going threat in the BOTW universe, and these people knew he would return.
@JoaderR
@JoaderR 4 жыл бұрын
@@sook-iii I don't think that they can easily pick up a history book about that. These games are thousands upon thousands of years apart so records of those times (aside from ruins, maybe) wouldn't be preserved easily and any remaining knowledge about previous eras was turned into legend. So most people would just be like: "Meh... It's just a bedtime story. Who cares?"

Every Link rises to the occassion in some way or another. Whether you're 100 years late to the party, a confused little forest boy, a village fighting to protect his friends or just a kid with a sword gonna whoop some wind mage's behind and march off into the sunset never to be seen again. Round of applause for our unfaltering hero, an unlucky chosen one who never disappoints. I kinda wanna see Hero of the Four Swords Link as a meme now.

While in every other Zelda game the Goddesses most definitely made sure a Hero was there every time evil appeared, an argument could be made that Hyrule just got really flippin’ lucky in Windwaker, since the Goddesses didn’t choose him until he yanked the pieces of the Triforce of Courage from the ocean and shoved it in their faces... tower... whatever, you get the point. Link wasn’t really supposed to exist in the story of Windwaker, because there wasn’t _supposed_ to be a story of Windwaker. Perhaps Ganon was right at the end, and the Goddesses really did want to destroy Hyrule. But because there was a Hero, they also got to start anew after the inevitable destruction the Goddesses intended.

With the heroes named Link, they also made sure that they succeeded in the last battles (with The Wind Waker Link choosin' ta be the hero of his own volition). With those boys an' girls named Link an' Zelda ALWAYS succeedin' in bein' survivors in the last battles against Demise's hate, the Ganondorf who became dark kings (subconciously) influenced by it, an' the other baddies like Ghirahim, Vaati, Zant, Agahnim (Ganon's disguise AND a willin' accomplice to the demonic possession) Onox, Veran, Koume, Kotake, Bellum, Chancellor Cole, Malladus, an' the Calamity Ganon, there's still hope. Even if the first time fails, they all gotta survive the failed attempts so they kin win in the second attempts AND the third attempts (like Breath of the Wild Link an' Zelda survivin' fer 100 years after they failed the first time). They all hafta really survive those final battles with the bad guys live so that Demise curse LOSES. The Link who came before Skyward Sword was the exception to the rule, 'cuz he died from his fatal wound, even before the destiny with the other Links ALWAYS bein' the victors AND the survivors in the last battles against the villains an' the Curse of the Demon Tribe was set in motion. All those Links an' Zeldas gotta survive the last battles (with some Zeldas bein' unable ta really help in some of the last battles 'cuz of bein asleep, or imprisoned). In the story called The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, one of the maidens told Link that if the dark king (with Demise's hate) destroys the hero, nobody's gonna stop his wicked reign (with theft, murder, mass murder, genocide, subjugation, an' tyranny). It's a history with love, compassion, AND kindness winnin' against hate, malice, AND cruelty. It's also a history with hope winnin' against despair.

Dude right. The hero of the winds got so pissed off about his sister getting stolen once he saved her he was like, "man fuck this" and literally searched the entire fucking sea for shards, found them, told the gods he was declaring himself the hero. I actually think that the rise of the hero of winds WAS something the Goddesses intended. I mean, why would they build that huge tower, which was said to be built to test the courage of men, if the Goddesses weren't expecting or at least wanting a hero to rise?

The legends are told in such a way that you get this feeling that they didn't even have to face any trials. Like, the Four Swords Link is implied to have fought Vaati in single combat without needing to do anything at all. Even crazier, the Link from the 10k years prior to BotW sounds like he had the easiest time ever- I mean, he had a literal army at his back. Did he even have to clear a single dungeon? lol It makes me think that either these legends went through a crazy game of telephone which resulted in us not getting the full picture (Which would be interesting), or these fights really were way too easy and thus wouldn't actually make very good games anyway. Maybe short mangas or something.

@truelionofhylia8437
@truelionofhylia8437 4 жыл бұрын
They could make good games. They just need ta be longer, even with more trials, all so they kin have real stories. We gotta know more about how those Links got there, how they won, and how they saved the world from Demise's curse, even when it was repeatin' itself.
@truelionofhylia8437
@truelionofhylia8437 4 жыл бұрын
That's probably makin' the stories look shorter without the details. They hafta overcome the trials 'cause victory don't always come so easily. There ain't no denyin' that they was heroes named Link, the ones named after the Link who was Hylia's Chosen Hero and his first successor, his lil' brother's descendant (with the dirty blonde hair).
@GordKeen
@GordKeen 4 жыл бұрын
It definitely did not go through a game of telephone. Zelda 10,000 years ago already had her powers unlocked and ready, ganon didnt know about the divine beasts, and link wasnt mortally wounded by guardians before the fight. Link before he died in BOTW was significantly stronger than the link we play as. Even the great deku tree tells us so. Link in the past would have no problem wielding the master sword, where as when we play, he is to weak to take it out of the pedestal. Link was in prime form to kill calamity ganon, but losing the divine beasts and zelda being incompetent on getting her power was what lead to link being slain. However it was for the best since now zelda is in full power and calamity ganon was so confident he could win that he took a physical form which allowed zelda to kill him for the forseeable future. Now we wait to see what ganondorf will do in BOTW2

@@GordKeen Correction. Link was unconscious cuz of those injuries. He was kept alive in his comatose state when he was put on life support in the Shrine of Resurrection, which eventually took away his memories an' made 'im a snarky young man who was a jerk with a heart of gold (manipulatin' for the greater good when he has to) after 100 years. The Hero Green Clothes he earned with all 120 shrines completed gave 'im a new look. Maybe the green Cap of the Wild, green Tunic of the Wild, an' brown Trousers of the Wild reflect nature takin' back what's hers, an' his life bein' saved 100 years ago. Link an' Zelda still looked like the young teens that they was cuz of bein' kept young by the stasis (so they could be capable of defeatin' the Calamity that annihilated the Hyrule they knew). He recovered all the important memories he lost. His journal entries for the Sheikah slate involved his new experiences, like ridin' on the giant horse's back (which he said was cool cuz the black stallion's power got 'im excited), the Trial of the Sword, and rememberin' Zelda (the girl who was still kept alive by the Hylia's power an' the Triforce's power while delayin' Calamity Ganon's rampage). He got his wish in reunitin' with the princess an' seein' her smile again after he defeated the Dark Beast Ganon (the giant boar that Calamity Ganon became), a heroic act which set the princess free while he was wearin' his verision of the Hero's green clothes, the Hero of the Wild set. An' THAT was the first time she ever saw him wearin' his own version of the Hero's green outfit with the green cap. Link followed Zelda 100 years ago. Now he was walkin' by her side as her equal.

Joshua there is something about the will to succeed that transcends the hellish existence. there is a quote from star wars that resonates with me. the dark side is more powerful than you think, those who oppose it are more powerful than you can possibly imagine. there is something divine about the story of protecting a sacred feminine figure from the clutches of tyranny. especially when the kingdom of said world is a matriarchal society. it's spartan esque in its righteousness, as only men in war and woman who died in childbirth were given tombstones in Sparta. in many ways, this game teaches you what there is to live for in the world. to oppose evil and ultimately protect the sacred feminine identity. the way they incorporate reincarnation and allow the player to see themselves ad link suggests that they wanted us to feel like we *should* be like link. that we should always be prepared for the uncertain chaos of life but we should be ready with immense power, not tyrannical power but courageous strength in the name of the feminine spirit. breath of the wild hammers this narrative to smithereens. zelda embodies the uncertain broken girl spirit. she ultimately fails when it comes to the book learned information she was studying so hard. the true wisdom was that the key to the triforce is through her spirit. *a feminine spirit* . only when she realized that link was dying did she truly unlock her power. it's because the most defining feature of the feminine spirit is their ability for compassion. ir boils down to love trumps evil but it's a archetypal story that has shaped our myths across cultures all over the world. it is a legend after all. let's treat it like one.

That skyward sword theory was mind blowing! I never considered him to be the same Link from skyward sword! About Zelda reincarnating.. I do believe she reincarnated as well. I think the bloodline thing just ensures she reincarnates into a position of power and also retain the power of her godhood. I think when evil awakens both her and Link are born into the world. Hylia into the royals family and Link seems a little more random though not much is ever known of his past so it could also be the same bloodline but I dont really believe that. I think his soul is just born into the world and no matter what he takes on the physical and mental traits of his original self just like Zelda
@nonoctoro4933

It's not really their Souls that are reincarnted, it's Hylia's Sacred Spirit passed down in the Royal Blood and the Hero's Spirit. Only the members of the Knights of Hyrule Clan can inherit the Hero's Spirit, it's the lore of A Link to the Past. But not all Links are related to the previous one, the best exemple of that is OOT Link and TWW Link even if there are proof than TWW Link is related to TMC Link. @@Zeltik Really? Wow... I just thought maybe it was just a random misspeak. I'm happy to help clear that up for you though. I've been watching this channel for a long time, and I never really noticed anything like that before. So I felt it was kinda out of place, and figured you might want to know. Also, I never realized how many people never even thought of that causal loop angle until I showed this video to some acquaintances. It's pretty similar to the "Beethoven's Works" bootstrap paradox where a superfan of Beethoven takes copies of all of Beethoven's known works backwards through time to get them autographed by Beethoven only to discover Beethoven does not exist. Wanting to ensure Beethoven's works still come to be, he actually ends up BEING Beethoven. Thus, the bootsrap paradox is expressed as a result of there being no clear beginning or end to the causal loop because he became Beethoven using copies of the originals which didn't exist until he used copies of them AS Beethoven in order to make the originals. It's extremely timey-wimey, but at least this LoZ one didn't collapse into a mobius loop...as far as we know. The timeline is plenty mixed up as-is. lol Anyway, great video, and you did a great job with it. Thank you for all you do. =-)

What army did he serve to attain the armor seen in TP and how did he die? It for certain would not be standard Zelda since he wouldn't fight Gannon(dorf) and Zelda probably wouldn't be around but maybe there is more to Termina's story, or perhaps a new land? At the end of the credit sequence Link returns to the forest we see him in for the opening scene only to ride off in an unknown direction, what happened between that and TP cause he certainly does not seem to have found Navi.

The Era of Chaos ? Ganon's Return and the flood ? The Ancient Battle and the Demon invasion ? We do explore those Eras, us, theorists and it's pretty fun. I theorized the possible existence of another Hero during the Era of Chaos, the one who defeated Stallord when he also had flesh. On the Walls of the Arbiter's Grounds, there are depictures of Stallord with a Trident, meaning he might have been the original "King of Darkness" FSA talks about, a Demon King. There is also depitcures of a Knight with a Shield ... a Hero ?

I loved the concept of the Valley of the Flood. It was originally an April Fools joke, but I actually really love the story concept. It would have taken place between Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker. Hyrule would be a sort of Steam Punk type civilization at that point. Ganondorf would return from his seal. However, without a hero a young man who incorrectly believes that he is the Hero of Time reborn would try to defeat him, but would ultimately fail or cause the flood that created the Great Sea in TWW.

Nonoctoro my issue is that aside from the from a few vague sentences at the most, we hear practically nothing about these events at all, theorists do a fantastic job working with what they are given but I can’t deny that it can be lacking at times simply from the fact that the lore wasn’t explored by the devs themselves. I would love maybe a spin off title (kinda in the same vain as Hyrule Warriors) where you play as link in an actual war, not fighting strange and unusual creatures that invaded Hyrule castle (TP) or something. Typical Zelda games don’t feel like these grand battles are being fought in a larger campaign but rather one on one showdowns between good and evil. It works no doubt, but it also feels sorta lacking in the sense that “this big bad man captures the kingdom with an army of baddies” but you never see that army in a cohesive unit and as a result you never find yourself in these big battles like you would expect. They either happen off screen or you never participate in them. I would love a pseudo-strategy game where you can take control of an army and fight in these large scale battles against an actual invading force (again like an actually canonical Hyrule Warriors it something)

Nonoctoro well those events don’t exactly have a detailed timeline of events, we have no idea how long the demon invasion or the era of chaos is, I’d imagine the return of Ganondorf and the subsequent flooding of Hyrule to only last a few days so maybe it would be nothing more than a playable chapter in a larger story but either way it’d be nice to have more to go of off than just little breadcrumbs for these really awesome sounding events.

@@kingnamor7777 The Four Swords previous Hero was mentionned in the manual of the game A Link to the Past & Four Swords. Zeltik explained it a lot but here's the text translated : その昔、ハイラルという国の奥地にグフーという風の魔人があらわれて、美しい娘を次々にさらっていきました。 Long ago, in the inner reaches of a land called Hyrule, there appeared a wind sorcerer named Gufuu(Vaati) and began kidnapping beautiful girls, one after another. お城の騎士や勇気ある者が、魔人を退治してさらわれた娘たちを救い出そうとしましたが、グフーの強さの前には、まったくかないません。 Knights from the castle and brave men tried to defeat the sorcerer and rescue the kidnapped girls, but they couldn't match the strength of Gufuu(Vaati) at all. 人々が困り果てていると、そこへ一本の剣をたずさえた旅の少年が現れ「ぼくが魔人を退治しましょう」と言うました。 Just as the people had fallen into despair, there appeared a travelling boy who carried only a single sword, and he said, "I will defeat this sorcerer." そして魔人の棲家に乗り込んだ少年はたちまちグフーをその剣に封印し、森の奥深くに突き刺して何処かへ去っていったのです。 And the boy entered the sorcerer's abode, instantly sealed Gufuu(Vaati) in that sword, stuck it deep into the forest, and disappeared somewhere. 人々は、少年がどうやってグフーを退治したのか、助け出された娘たちに聞きました。 The people asked the rescued girls how the boy defeated Gufuu(Vaati). 彼女たちは口々に、少年が剣を抜くと身体が4つに分かれ、その4人で力を合わせてグフーを退治したのだといいます。 In unison, the girls said that when the boy drew his sword, his body split into four, and uniting their powers those four defeated Gufuu(Vaati). 夢を見たのような娘たちの言葉に、人々はそれを信じませんでしたが、森に封印された剣を"フォーソード"となづけ、触ると身体が分かれてしまうという噂と共に、神殿を作り大切に祭ったのでした?? Although the people did not believe the girls' dreamlike words, they christened the sword sealed in the forest the "Four Sword", and since it was rumoured to divide one's body at a touch, they built a temple to carefully enshrine it. ハイラル国のゼルダ姫は、生まれながらに邪悪を感じる不思議な力を持っている、とても美しい王女さまでした。 Princess Zelda of the land of Hyrule was a beautiful princess born with the mysterious power to sense evil. そのため、その昔魔人を封じたといわれるフォーソードの神殿の守護もゼルダ姫の仕事のひとつです。 For this reason, the protection of the temple of the Four Sword that was said to have sealed the wind sorcerer long ago was also one of Princess Zelda's tasks. ある日「フォーソードの神殿に異変が?」そう感じたゼルダ姫はハイラルで自分が最も信頼を置くを少年、リンクをお供にフォーソードの神殿を訪れたのでした。 One day, Princess Zelda felt, "An accident at the temple of the Four Sword?", and went to inspect the temple accompanied by Link, a boy whom she trusted most in Hyrule. "Kishin" Is the fierce Deity, we don't know who he was but "he appeared" two times in the series. As the final mask of Majora's Mask and the final Outfit in Tri Force Heroes. He was surely a powerful Warrior of the past and possibly from another world.

We've actually had an explanation of The fierce Deity. And I guess it's just up to the person to take it as canon or not. It was in an interview when Majora's Mask 3D was going out. The Fierce Diety was supposed to be the maifistation of all the people's suffering and getting Justice. (something like that it's been a really long time) And it makes the most sense it's why you only get the mask if you help everyone and why It already looks like Link. Neither it nor Majora's Mask are actual entities there just sorta Forces.

EyeOfTheOwler in tp. there's a great deal of information linking itself to oot hyrule history. the information suggests that once link returned to his childhood after defeating ganon, he led a rather righteous life,having children and climbing the ranks of hyrule knighthood until his death as a hero of hyrule. Ganon was executed after the war against the gerudo. this would have taken place perhaps months after the ending of ocarina of time. link would have been seen as a messiah just like zelda had dreamed about. we all know the story after oot. link sets off to find his old friends and learns what death is. metaphorically with his old life as the hero of time, he simply was never givem the recognition her deserved as well as literally with the loss of his companion, Navi. by the information given in hyrule historia and within twilight princess itself, it would seem that link had a family as the blood of the hero of time flows in tp links veins. it seems like went through a great deal of trouble to ensure that the next incarnation would succeed, further honoring the title hero of time, he set out sheikah stones that would speak to the spirit of the hero, it turns out the hero's spirit is represented as a wolf, so its kind of majestic that link would have been very alone after the events of ocarina of time. the devs represented him as a golden lone wolf and he made it his duty to call out for the "decendents of his pack" if you will, by using shiekah tech to transcend time and assist the hero of twilight.

I'd love to see a full backstory to the Hero of Winds, he's by far the most fleshed out Link incarnation we've seen so far. Not only did he have a grandmother, but he lived on an island with a whole community of people he grew up with, he even has a biological sister who's around 8 years younger than him, meaning his parents either perished or left within a short enough time for this Link to actually know who his parents were and having to reconcile the reasons they left. By the end, your grandmother is still alive, presumably Link would spend her last days with her, keep her safe. But he would've grown up, Aryll would have grown up. It opens up the interesting possibility that not *every* Link is an incarnation brought forth to combat Ganon. The Link in Spirit Tracks could be to be Aryll's grandson. I'd say it could be the grandson of Link and Tetra, but they are both deceased by the events of Spirit Tracks, and Old Niko would've probably told you if you were, but he only comments how you resemble the Hero of Winds, making me think it's Aryll's grandson. A second lineage of the Link incarnation, through Aryll, who's destiny was to defeat the Demon King, Malladus, to allow New Hyrule to truly rebuild and flourish, so that the world build by the Goddesses may be abundant with life again. Perhaps this was the plan of the Goddesses all along; The Hero of Winds sealed Ganondorf once more and as always, was destined to "disappear" now his job was done, leaving nothing behind except the Sword to seal evil, hidden for the next time he'll need it. But this time, the Goddesses gave him a sister, a younger sister to nurture and protect, who would not fade away through destiny, who would have a family, blessed with the same blood as the Goddess' Chosen Hero, so that her offspring would be there ready to fight a new evil that would be New Hyrule's first test. P.S; Nice call on the Link who was around during the time of the creation of the Divine Beasts. That is truly a story I'd love to see and I really think Nintendo would be folly not to have ideas for a book, animated show or game based around that era.

I like the idea of ST Link being Aryll Grandson. 👍 The Hero of Time and the Hero of Wind aren't truly related, he never had descendants in this Timeline. but the Hero's Shield, Link's family Heirloom do connect the Hero of the Minish with him. Grandma probably died at a noble age, accompagnied by Link and Aryll. We don't know what happened to her child, Link's and Tetra's Parent. (But I have a theory that he was Gonzo, but I'm not really sure on this since he didn't recognized anyone). They probably died ... like all of every incarnation of Link's Parents. The Curse is real.

The Triforce pieces don’t have any kind of moral attachment. Ganondorf with Courage wouldn’t be heroic Ganondorf. It would be Ganondorf with a different skill set. Likewise Link with Power wouldn’t be evil Link, it would be super sayan Link. Though I am interested to see the villain with a different Triforce piece. A bad guy with the Triforce of Wisdom, outwitting the hero at every turn would be amazing.

The Four Sword Hero presents an interesting question. Were it not for those girls that witnessed it, nobody would have ever known what he did. How many Heroes have incarnated, lived out their purpose, and died throughout history, without ever being recognized? For that matter, are any of the Heroes we've played like that? Just how much of the Triforce cycle is unsung?
@mrtoxicwasteland
@mrtoxicwasteland 5 жыл бұрын
IronianKnight link in ocarina of time fits the bill of an unsung hero. he essentially spent his childhood destroying the king of evil, leaping back and forth through time to save what was left of the world. only to be sent back in time. his past isn't just history anymore. it's as though it never happened. link appears from the forrest just like zelda dream and contributes key information on Ganondorfs motives with the stamp of approval, the triforce on his hand. nobody in this timeline acknowledged links deeds throughout ocarina of time and majoras mask. he was simply a messiah who traveled time and was given symbols of gratitude such as the sword and shield link owns in mm. his achievements were simultaneously wiped from history along with Ganons evil deeds when zelda had sent him back to the moment Navi wakes up link. he would rise from the his sleep with the memory from the future and rush to the king with his newfound prophecy. the damage would have been done by ganon as he took advantage of the postwar Era that takes place in oot and would have corrupted the temples prior to our journey. which explains morpheels presence in tp as well as the death of the deku tree and the lack of a giant fish god. without the deities, it seems the realm of hyrule was left vulnerable for a period of time resulting in the invasion for the triforce spoken about in twilight princess. leading to the gods creating the light spirits to compensate for the lack of deities. the sages would have been properly awakened without links assistance which was required in oot leading to their spectral form in tp. that's what happens when they transcend their physical bodies into a true sage. in oot, we simply contacted their spirits within the sacred realm and informed them that they were meant to be awoken as sages but the time had already passed and they died without honoring their sacred duty. each and every sage recognizes their duty and channels their strength when zelda calls upon them. in fact, some of them even seem suprised that they are a sage at all but through links actions of freeing the dungeons from darkness. zelda was able to contact them and bestow their duty to them as the goddess. later in tp we learn that the hero of time ultimately settled with the goal of ensuring future heroes success by calling out to their spirit via shiekah stones. it's majestic as fuck. link was a lone wolf in his journey through majoras mask and ocarina of time. the devs represented him as a wolf with a golden mane who calls out to the decendents of his pack by howling to their "spirit animal", as only the hero of legends spirit would howl back to the hero of time. the denizens of twilight confirm this by revealing that, within their purgatory like spirit plane, the twilight realm, the hero would appear as none other than a beastly wolf.

Great Video as always. I was actually really happy to see this. As I had thought about unknown links over the timeline, ever since the Hyrule Historia was released. And I thought I’d share one of my favorite theories on one in particular. Sorry, this will run a little long. So, I love Wind Waker. It isn’t my favorite Zelda game, but it's in the top 3. Anyway, my theory has to do with the events between WW and OoT. We’re told about the legend of the hero of time, and how he and Zelda sealed the great evil away. But, when that evil escaped, there was no hero to stop it, as Link had been sent back to his own time. I didn’t question this when WW was first released, as there was no real timeline, and Demise’s curse didn’t exist in canon. However, now that these have been established, it makes me wonder. “Why didn’t the goddesses send a hero to stop the escaped Ganon?” Many will argue that Link returning to the past removed his reincarnation cycle from the world. This is why there is no mention of a hero since the Hero of Time, and why WW link isn’t part of the incarnation cycle, having to earn his place as a hero. (which I love) I also do agree with the argument, but only so much of it. To explain, I will need to state some points. First, I agree that OoT link returning to his own time does affect the reincarnation cycle. The Skyward Sword Hero is no longer part of that timeline, and therefore not able to reincarnate. Second, Demise’s reincarnation could continue because Ganondorf was split across the three timelines, and so was the curse. Third, WW link is the first SUCCESSFUL incarnation of the Hero for the Adult timeline. Lastly, the goddesses would NOT let the land they created fall to evil so easily. Now that that’s out of the way, onto my theory. I believe there was at least one other Link between OoT and WW. One who was chosen by the goddesses to stop Ganondorf when he escaped and began to exact his revenge on the land. One just before the flood. I call him, The Fallen Hero of the Flood. This Link was chosen as the hero when Ganondorf escaped. He was tasked by the goddesses to defeat him before he destroyed the land of Hyrule. He began following his instructions and was sent to Hyrule Castle to inform the King that he was sent by the goddesses to assist in the defeat of Ganondorf, as he would need the assistance of Zelda, the third part of the Triforce. (much like OoT Link) However, the King was expecting the Hero of Time to return and dismissed this new Link as a fake. Disappointed but not disheartened, Link began his quest without the aid of the Royal Family. He would have become as strong as he could, in the short amount of time he was given, which would (in theory) grant him the Triforce of Courage. He would then take on Ganondorf, but fail. With years waiting for Vengeance, and seeing a green-clad boy attempting to thwart him, Ganondorf would take everything out on this new Hero. And without the help of Zelda and the Triforce of Wisdom, this Link would put up a brave fight, but fail in the end. It would be about halfway through his adventure that the people of Hyrule would realize that the Hero of Time isn’t coming, and begin to plead with the goddesses for help. But it would be the prayers of the Hero, begging to seal Hyrule away from Ganondorf; that a new, stronger hero might arise to defeat him. It was these final cries from their chosen hero that provoked the goddesses to intervene. To flood Hyrule to protect it from Ganondorf. To wait for, and test, the one who could stop him, to ensure they can. Now, I know it isn’t much. And this is very heavy in theory/fan fiction territory. But I’ve always liked it.

The Hero's Spirit is actually passed down in the Knight Clan, there is no need to OOT Link to have descendants. ALTTP told us. There was only a "Short While" between the end of OOT and the return of Ganon according to the Japanese Original text. So no Heroes where able to appear, there was no Heroes either during the Imprisoning War.
@ryukage7522
@ryukage7522 4 жыл бұрын
This is very similar to my own theory, but i believe that not only did the king refuse to help him, but also forbid anyone from doing so, since he strongly believed he was a fake. Later, when he's defeated by Ganon, the *king* wishes for assistance from the Goddesses via the triforce in relic form, causing the flooding of Hyrule. Then, in response, the Hero of the Flood using the last vestiges of his and the Master swords power, seals Hyrule castle in time, the only one not affected being himself, allowing him to place the sword in the castle and fade away into oblivion.

At 7:50 you say that we have never played as the incarnation of Link that originally sealed Vaati away, but I think that there is one game where we DID play as that Link. It's an old game for the DS called 'The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Aniversary Edition'' (I think). Not many people know about it and I am not sure if the game is canon or not. I think you should go check the game out, as it might provide some more lore that is not known to many players.

That's not a new game. That was a remake of the original Four Swords game for the GBA. The biggest changes were the addition of a single player mode and new optional areas to replace the lack of connectivity with A Link to the Past. So though the game is canon, it was already accounted for.

I don't Malladus is a part of the 'Reincarnation Cycle'. He's just some other guy who decided to call himself Demon King later from a completely new land and got sealed or something til he revived and was defeated by Link with the legendary sword of that place. Kinda funny how every Legendary Sword (Lokomo Blade, Four Sword, Phantom Sword) he's used has looked somewhat like the Master Sword.

There's also an original Hero of Time we know even less about than these heroes. When Link touches the Master Sword in Ocarina of Time, it's said he can't take up the mantle of the Hero of Time and Sheik makes a very clear statement saying that Link looks like the Hero of Time. Meaning there was another incarnation with that title prior to Ocarina of Time. We don't know who he fought or what he did, just that he existed and presumably had some control over time.

That was Skyward Sword Link. He fought Ghirahim an' Demise in the past. Princess Zelda (who was disguised as Sheik ta really delay her kidnappin' by Ganondorf fer 7 years) called 'im the Hero of Time 'cuz he used the Gate of Time that Hylia created. He used it ta really go back to the past a few times. Maybe he was called the Hero of Time after he was long gone. Ocarina of Time Link was prolly the second ta really have that title, so the first to be the Hero of Time was obviously Skyward Sword Link (Hylia's second hero 'cuz the first Link was her original champ, the one who died as real hero who saved humanity from complete obliteration). HE'S the guy she was talkin' about. Demise called 'im "Knight of the Goddess". Maybe he was amused with the boy's courage, not even rememberin' the original Link, the heroic young knight who died as a man in his 20's who was as a real hero ('cuz he supported the oppressed). The Demon King in the past forgot the hero he fatally wounded 'cuz it'd been a while since that young lion faced HIM in the last battle that ended the war. Everythin' else that came after his victory was all results of the heroic sacrifice, allowin' Skyward Sword Link an' Zelda ta really be the next hero and the next heroine, respectively. After the Demise in their time was crushed by the Triforce's power 'cuz Link wished fer the world's safety with the monster's eradication, he was happily reunited with her again, only fer Ghirahim ta kidnap her. Link, Fi, an' Groose (Bado in Japan) followed the "Demon Lord" to the past, where the Demise in the past was sealed by Hylia long ago. The Demon King in the past stole a part of Zelda's power (Hylia's power), makin' her unconscious so he could get his original form back. When Link defeated 'im with the Master Sword, the power was restored ta Zelda, savin' her life (Demise accepted his defeat, but warned that his murderous hate was gonna be inherited by the Ganondorfs, an' other threats hauntin' the Zeldas an' Links who was born later). With the Master Sword placed in the pedestal that was in the past, Fi said bye-bye, promisin' ta meet her master--her friend--in the afterlife. Then Link, Zelda, an' Groose went back to their time. Turns out, Impa was the granny all along. She died a short time later, leavin' Zelda's bracelet behind. They was heartbroken for a while. The Master Sword was in the smaller pedestal that was prob'ly in the same area where Zelda was sleepin' in the past (delayin' Demise's escape till he got crushed like an ant by the statue), even with the bigger pedestal in the past bein' gone for a long time. Groose went back ta Skyloft with the friends who came ta see the world below the clouds fer like, a short time. Link an' Zelda chose ta live on the Surface, call it Hyrule, an' watch over the Golden Power. Maybe them lovebirds got married a few years later. Maybe they had kids together after gettin' married, effectively startin' a shared bloodline with the "Hero's Spirit" an' "Goddess's Blood", with the common boys havin' none of the supernatural power the girls inherited. Maybe Breath of the Wild Link was a spiritual successor (which COULD be one thing preventin' his relationship with his Zelda from bein' incestuous). Every Link was named the left-handed man who fell in love with Hylia, an' every Zelda was named after his first successor's bestie (the first ta really get the supernatural power from Hylia).

It makes me wonder, I decided to play BOTW because I felt the urge to do so. I have a theory, what if the shiekah were telling a story that wasn’t true? Link was taken to the shrine of resurrection, lost his memories and was only provided pieces of memories through out the game. Not much was unfolded but what dialogues were displayed. If the shiekah were that advanced in technology per se, maybe they have the technology to rewrite memories? What if the shiekah tried to control Gannon’s power but was unable to, thus it unleashed itself and all the technology they excavated was controlled by Gannon because of power? The shiekah were technically banished and some became yigas because they were no longer wanting to be used by Hylian royalty. What if link was fighting a battle he didn’t understand because the “king” said so.

you forgot one. The link before the hero of winds from the windwaker. Gannon emerged and began destroying Hyrule, and as the cycle demands, a hero must arise. That Link was unable to stop Gannon and was killed before he could do much, which is why its recorded that he never appeared, so the Hyrule was flooded to seal Gannon away in one last ditch effort. Then, a century or two later, the Windwaker begins. VortexxGamming did a really great theory on this some time ago.

I suggest a revamp of certain Zelda characters' smash bros movesets. If you see this comment, Zeltik, please let me know what you think :) First things first, an idea for distinguishing young link from toon and regular while also calling back to majora's mask - similar to Pokemon trainer, YLs down b switches him between 4 forms: normal link, Deku Link, Goron Link, and Zora Link. Normal YL would retain his moveset, sans bombs. Goron link's up b would be the ground pound (similar to dedede's) side b would be the roll (begins in non spiked mode, can't roll off ledges but less damage, after a few seconds becomes spiked, more damage but will roll off ledges very quickly, can segue into his up b) neut b would be powder keg (similar to bombs, but rolls forward), meanwhile Zora link would have an upwards dolphin leap up b (similar to Corrin's, water appears around him), neut B would be Zora boomerangs (slightly weaker than YL's regular 'rangs, but will return to him always and can strike multiple enemies), side b would be his underwater dash attack (can be tilted, similar to fox and falcos' up b's except sideways, not set on this move, open to suggestions), and finally Deku link would have his flower jump as an up b (floats down like peach, on earthy surfaces flower would look normal, on artificial ones, it would appear like in Majora's boss room, and if in midair, a platform like in the Deku playground would appear), side b would be his spin attack (like DK or Incineroar), and neut b would be his bubble (curves upwards). The final smash for all of them would be the same: fierce deity link (I mean, the triforce slash has no basis, I don't get why fierce deity isn't incorporated at the very least). Toon link could then be reverted to his SSB4 form to fill the niche of a faster but weaker link left open by YL, with a few minor tweaks. First things first, his up b would be the hurricane spin. In the air, it doesn't change, but on the ground, it allows toon link to move side to side during the duration (lasts longer, but if he doesn't hit an enemy, he will be dizzy for a brief moment). His grab could be altered to the grappling hook, to further distinguish from YL, but that's not as important. His final smash would be taken from phantom hourglass: the time freeze from the bellum boss fight. A figure eight appears onscreen and everyone freezes except toon link. Alternatively, he drives across the screen on the spirit train, or summons the ballad of gales to lift his opponents up off the screen. Now, Sheik is fun to play as, but she's just kinda generic and doesn't include any references to the series. Well, her up b works fine, since it hearkens back to the Deku nut teleportation in OoT, but the other moves could easily use a revamp. First off, her neut b could be cryonis (creates a platform in front of sheik that doubles as a barrier, any enemies it hits get launched upwards, can be broken, causing ice crystals with minor damage), her down b could be stasis (could work two different ways, either as a counter that freezes opponents or as a short range move that lasts only a small amount of time, and has a long recharge), and her side b could be magnesis (she summons one of several metal objects, which she can swing around slowly as long as she holds b, but she is vulnerable). Her smash attacks could utilize guardian or sheikah weaponry, and her final smash could have her summon the divine beasts. Finally, Ganondorf. He's always bugged me, because he has sooooo much potential, but he's basically a purple captain falcon. Instead, I propose that, first of all, instead of the tech demo sword, he should use the sword of the sages, with his down smash utilizing his dual blades from WW. His Neutral b could consist of him summoning lightning with Ghirahim (sword version) and launching a beam. It could be the slowest release animation for a projectile in the game, but compensate with damage. His side b could be an older move, which is to say the Fire keese he summons in ALttP. They could swarm in a damaging circle around him, a la megaman's leaf shield, and upon executing the move a second time, disperse outwards in all directions (only four bats with small hit boxes, so easy to avoid though), while his down B could reference his OoT incarnation, in which he would reflect projectiles with his cape (exactly as Mario does), his up b would reference TP, particularly the move where he vaults over link's head (as a recovery, it would essentially just be an extra jump, but when done in front of an enemy, he leaps behind them and slashes heavily with the sword of the sages). His final smash is fine as is though.

I feel like Ultimate already solved Young Link’s moveset. Since they changed normal Link’s moveset so much to account for his changes in BotW, Young Link now represents Link’s moveset from past Smash games.

WideMouthWideMouthia yes, but in fairness, so does toon link, with the exception of a few slight tweaks. I think if they adjusted toon link to be more like he was in smash 4, he could fill the classic link niche. Imo, he really isn't fun to play in ultimate, so assuming it's not just me, reverting him to fill that role wouldn't be too big of a deal with fans. And young link would still play very similarly, except instead of bombs as his down b, he would change masks.

soldofpol I agree that Toon Link is the least fun to play as. But I feel like Young Link should represent Ocarina of Time instead of Majora’s Mask. It would be cool if Toon Link utilized his Wind Waker in some way, or maybe even the Deku Leaf.

WideMouthWideMouthia it seems we simply disagree on which game is more representative of young link. I've always considered ocarina of time to be an adult link game on account of the fact that his section is longer. Majora's Mask, however, features young link exclusively, thus I associate that game with him more than OoT. But once again, in my theoretical revamp, he would play exactly the same, just without bombs. I wholeheartedly agree in regards to toon link, the Deku leaf would lend itself really well to smash, but it'd also be cool to see the Skull hammer or Sand Rod incorporated

The point about Skyward Sword Link being the same Link that originally fought Demise and obtained the sailcloth from Hylia etc....that blew my mind. I have never thought about that, especially after reading the manga. Great catch

4:55 Isn’t that the same kind of loop surrounding the Song of Storms in OoT? 11:05 So am I the only one who thinks that that Link kinda looks like Beast Ganon?

@@ThatAnArchyDude Yes, the first person to had played the song of Storm wasn't us, even if it was us, so, by logic, there was another us. Which I believe to be Downfall Link.
