“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22
“I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.” Psalm 89:1
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

My interest was sparked when you explained how she gives a broad view of the whole world, along with the OT. I feel like the history I learned was so fragmented, I have a hard time piecing it together. Thank you for reviewing this!!

This is so beautiful!!!! We enjoyed watching your video. This is my first time watching your video. I think your video has convinced me to purchase The Mystery of History for our history curriculum. I love the fact that you mentioned how the goal of the author is to show that' God is the author of history.' I was even more shocked/surprised when I heard you say the end of the book has invitation to become a follower/disciple of Jesus. This book will be a great book for my family. The activities your kids did looked very exciting and I loved how they carved those words on play doughs. Thank you very much.

Thank you for this review. I’ve been wondering about this curriculum. I have 6 that are 8 and younger and I liked how you said it could be a fit for all ages. Especially involving them in activities like you do. Thank you again.

Thank you!! We just started this, as I got the older version given to me. Did you do the map work and timeline? I might skip that, as my oldest is in second grade.
@CalledtoCultivate
@CalledtoCultivate 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Lindsey, I had intentions of doing the timeline in an accordion style journal, but it didn’t pan out this year. 😉 We basically just used the textbook as a read aloud and did some of the activities that I thought the kids would really enjoy. 🤗

Great review! I'm considering using this curriculum next year for my 3rd grader and kindergartener. What grades did you use it for?

This year I had a 2nd and 4th grader (along with a toddler son and pre-K daughter). I definitely think it’d work well for those ages too. 🤗👍🏻

I just came across you awesome reviews! Just wondering how it was for your littles. I love MOH and want to start it with my 6 almost 7 year old and my 5 year old. Just wondering if the lessons were too much for them or if it holds there attention, thanks so much! would love your take, thx, Lynae Yankee
@CalledtoCultivate
@CalledtoCultivate 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Lynae, one of the great things about the MOH is being able to use it with all ages. For your kids ages I would recommend doing it as a read aloud and maybe purchasing the corresponding coloring sheets. You could definitely incorporate some of the activities too if you wanted. The lessons are nice and short, so I don’t think it would be too much for them to listen to in one sitting. They may not retain a ton at this young age, but the MOH is meant to be done in cycles, so over the course of their homeschool years they will repeat volumes 1-4 several times and be able to dig deeper each time. Think of these early elementary years as laying the groundwork and just exposing them to interesting people and places. 🤗👍🏻

Does the 3rd edition book include suggested activities and review questions or is that only in the download?
@CalledtoCultivate
@CalledtoCultivate 4 жыл бұрын
A physical/tangible copy of the companion guide is not included within the book. However when you purchase the textbook it comes with a code for a digital companion guide download. The companion guide is full of pretests, quizzes, suggested activities, review questions, tests, maps, and recommendations for supplemental reading. If you prefer a physical copy of the companion guide there is an option to purchase it separately on their website. 🤗👍🏻

Love your reviews! Binge watching 👀. Another popular KZfaqr said that she felt the Mystery of History did not cover all of (secular) history compared to Story of the World. Did you find MOH to be missing important historical events? Curious as to your opinion on this. Thanks! Gave you a thumbs up.
@CalledtoCultivate
@CalledtoCultivate 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment! 🤗 Since the book covers such a large span of history, I’m sure it was challenging to decide what to include. Both MOH and SOTW are just snap shots of different cultures and historical figures and don’t go super in depth. Perhaps you could find the MOH table of contents online and see what is and isn’t included. Really I think both curriculums are excellent choices. 💁🏼‍♀️

You said its a 4 year rotation and you go back to volume 1 again. We're Canadian (assuming ur American) and want to eventually include Canadian history. How do you go about including American history? Do you use another spine? Or after the 4 volumes take a break and do American?
@CalledtoCultivate
@CalledtoCultivate Жыл бұрын
We only done Volume 1 of MOH. But like other history curriculums that are written in four volume sets like this one, you could certainly take a year off to do American history. There will of course be some American history spread throughout these books and you could read additional biographies or historical fiction to correspond with the time period. We are planning to use the US Constitution curriculum from The Good and the Beautiful this coming fall. This is an excellent curriculum and we did enjoy using it! 💁🏼‍♀️

I’m so glad; I hope you all enjoy it! I don’t have plans to use volume two this coming year. That’s the only volume they haven’t yet updated to a hard cover/color third edition. I know they plan to update volume two in the near future, but this year has thrown a curveball for so many.
