Shadow of the Erdtree is coming far sooner than what some would consider... later.
So in order to be properly prepared for that hunk of cheese, I need to go ratatouie mode and consume the main course first. Slight issue with that, though. I'm easily distracted by even the most obscure reference to conspiracy, and Elden Ring has a big one. One in the shape of a foot flying free.
Join me, Donkeyskin, as I traverse the Lands Between once more, hoping to finally finish the game I once picked up for 70 hours straight and then never finish, while also searching for the truth behind Elden Ring & the Dark Souls Series' biggest mystery: where'd all the shoes go?

Rykard does in fact have human legs and feet coming out of his snake body, and those GRIPPERS ARE LOOSE. Miyazaki cant even resist the urge to put bare feet ON SNAKES. Also Godskin Noble is tough, I'm glad that he's a unique boss who never shows up again. Keep up the investigation, the World needs to know

Astrology. Feet and toes are associated with the moon sign of Pisces - the mutable water sign that symbolizes change and new beginnings. Same sign also governs the pineal gland - which is the "third eye" in the mystical sense and connected to circadian rhythm of day/night in actual biology. So having good feet is equated with being supernaturally in tune with the day-night cycle and ability to envision change. The emphasis on bare feet is justified by the world building. It's another form of superstition on the level of finger/palm reading.
