Who doesn’t love a story with a happy ending? I certainly do, and what a tale! Bravo on your detective work and well done ❤️

The important thing is that the mantel went to a person who appreciated it and preserved it until such time for it to be returned to the house.

Just found your channel. What a beautiful home and the story about getting the mantle back. Also all those wallpapers are stunning. Shame they aren't the right time frame for what you're doing with the house

You should check out valor fireplaces. They make gas fireplace inserts in the old style. Once you have that? You can probably sourse some period correct style encaustic tiles. I often get encaustic surrounds in our antique shop occaisionally , if you have old photos I can probably determine what pattern you should be looking for.

What incredible luck! It's a beautiful piece, I'm so glad it's back home. I live in Omaha, NE right? Imagine my surprise when my maiden name, Lyons, was mentioned in your video. My aunt has been doing our family tree for forever, I'm going to send her the link to this video and see if she wants to reach out to you.

Way cool, the greatest Mantel I've ever seen was in a bar in Wisconsin,, it was shipped there from Milwauki in the early 1900]s. made by Brunswick,,,

I'm glad you have it back! But one question,the stain does not match?
@JamesABeckHouse18 сағат бұрын
@@juliealtenburg9671 that was our first question as well. We are pretty sure originally the room had white painted wood and was all replaced with exact non painted oak including the pocket doors which were only painted on one side the original wood and pocket doors were found in the carriage house likely removed/replaced when the mantel was taken out in the 1920s. Which we will likely cover in a future episode.

May I ask where the antique store is in IL? I live in Chicago, and any antique stores nearby charge an arm and a leg. I'd love to know where a good antique store is.
