The NBA Bubble was by far and away the weirdest time in NBA history. Nearly 3 years later it continues to prove divisive and questionable to many. Is the NBA Bubble championship legitimate OR is it a great big phony? If you ask Lebron James it "was one of the hardest championships in NBA history". I don't agree with that but I do believe that it is due to him primarily why many see it as fraudulent. Listen to me explain and lift yourselves.

Also counting The 2020 ring as a legit ring is fine. Just also count all of Bill Russell's rings instead of stating he played against lesser competition.

Well, Russell played with 6 HOFs in his team where was only 15 teams, u needed to win just 2 play-off series to get a championship. And Boston's only real problem was Wilt and nobody else. How many championships Boston won since Russell retired? I guess even Detroit pistons won more than Boston. This is why u can't compare his rings to the rings of post-russell era. Let alone than what kind of accolades Russell had besides His championships? P.S. Bill Russell is not even a top 10 player anymore. There were much more players more talented and better than Russell has ever been with more accolades and who managed to win rings with less help and more competitive eras (but u can't say it cuz old heads gonna be angry at u, probably some of them even did not see him play)

The hard reason is they go thru whatever mental gymnastics they want to justify saying idiotic things like “ring culture is toxic.” They have the nerve to call us old heads when the only things they watch is who can make the deepest three and who gets this weeks participation trophy. And after the travesty that was embiid’s mvp, even that should be considered a participation trophy at this point, at least until the players start getting hungry for rings like they should be.

i disagree i think its a perfectly valid ring. yes there wasn't any fucking all time great team that they defeated but they went through multiple all stars through the west with ease and defeated the heat who have made another final and conference finals since. now the heat did suffer injuries in the finals which is the only asterisk i would put on this ring. everybody had the same conditions, same advantages and disadvantages and if it is easier to play without travelling and a crowd its easier for everybody not just the lakers. also i hear people say that without the break the lakers would have been injured but then what's the clippers excuse? i think more than one team got healthier with the break making it again, a fair advantage to everybody that was injured or is older.

The bubble had disadvantages, but I think the hate from it mostly stems from LeBron’s haters, salty Clippers, Bucks, Celtics fans or what have you who never saw their team win that season. COVID or not, I think the majority of things that happened would’ve happen regardless. The Lakers were the number 1 seed, so they were projecting to at least make it to the finals anyways. The Clippers have a horrible history choking, so that would’ve happened too. The other usual suspects at the time, the 76ers, Celtics, Jazz and the Rockets were gonna choke at some point too. The Heat broke out that season and they’ve proven themselves later on that even without the bubble, they can get themselves to the finals. A lotta criticisms of the bubble I think is ppl are using “what-if” scenarios and taking it to heart when it comes to it.

My will is stronger than everyone playing in this bubble. So I'm going to act like everyone else and complain when really I'm plotting on they soul and another ring😈😈😈😈😈"......😂😂😂😂😂😂 Another reason I can't stand LeBron 😂

Thank you for being open minded enough to welcome people who are not sports fans! I’m sure not all figure skating fans are snobby elitists, but it’s almost like the ones who are go out of their way to make it difficult to learn. I’m not referring to all KZfaqrs, but to substantial portions of their comment sections, and the vast majority of Reddit commenters. They refer to skaters by their initials or nicknames, use abbreviations for complex technical jargon, and when somebody asks what it means, they tell you to educate yourself. They also try to declare as fact that skater A is sooo artistic, and skater B is simply not artistic and therefore shouldn’t get the scores that they get. Any counter argument gets shouted down. And then they complain that there aren’t enough figure skating fans, and wonder how they can start winning over new fans or welcome back older ones who have taken a break. 🤣 Yeah, so, your welcoming attitude is most welcome!! 😎🙏🍿

The only reason people hate on the bubble is LeBron James ... justifiably so. Because if he had just accepted it as another championship, no one would have minded, but for some STUPID REASON he went on like how the 2020 Bubble Playoffs were some kind of warzone and he was lucky to be alive; like no one could have comprehended being in his situation. I think even a couple of his peers called him out, too: "Dude, it's a RESORT", but James doubled down. It was the most tone deaf marketing I heard from James since he called himself the Greatest Of All Time on his own show. Man is smug.

2 things to say about bubble: basketballwise, and politicowise basketballwise: suspect at times, and no fans i the stands was disheartening, but there were some legitimately entertaining series. Nuggets coming back from two 3-1 deficits and clippers hucksters on TV losing their **** after the collapse was great, we had bubble murray vs. bubble mitchel, bam adebayo looking like young dwight howard... and lakers deserved it. AD legitimately cooked (has never played that well against jokic again), and they were a well-built defensive team with the potential for more chips (which they utterly destroyed in the westbrick trade, which itself was comedy gold... KCP rubbing that second ring in all their faces by now) politicowise: i mean top comment kind of says it: multimillionaires wearing 'freedom' and equality' on their jerseys and pasting the names of real people who got killed by the police on their signature shoes made in an asian sweatshop by some 8 year old kid... like, kind of a kaepernick situation: lot of players hearts' was at least partly in the right place , a lot of them remember at least a little what it's like to grow up poor and black in america (at least when they're not complaining about the lack of a private chef...) but then it just boils down to another big nike ad (if we're being kind). i'd call it something more like war profiteering it was also a real 'panem et circensis' moment for the bigwigs, and not just the NBA execs: as in 'we need a circus show to distract the starving masses from the fact that they're starving'. like, i think at one point the players association pitched the idea of just not playing as a kind of 'protest' after minneapolis (again, multimillionaire going on strike doesn't quite have the same ring to it as that 8-year old asian kid doing it), but, jokes aside, i heard this kind of got serious: didn't obama himself have to call them up at one point to tell them 'put on your equality shorts and keep dancing b*****?' barry and comish kind of reminded me of the fat alien from space jam with that move... you know, the one voiced by danny devito?

The NBA bubble is a business at the end of the day. Everyone had a fair chance to get a ring, if it was a small market, people would complain. At some after the ASG and before shutdown (Last game was Raptors-Jazz), Siakam injured his shoulder and played like ass in the Bubble, and Toronto still took Boston to 7 and almost won that series after sweeping the Nets. People don't respect their championship either, but they were hooping until the pandemic and still had a decent playoff run defending their title.

In my opinion an NBA championship is an NBA championsip (wanted to write a ring is a ring but the NBA started giving them for the Cucumber's Cup), they still needed to win it themselves even if the rivals didn't put in their full effort the winning team is not to blame, obviously some rings are easier than others but I think they still hold the same value, only reason to not count a championship is if they doped or cheated their way to it.

I dismiss bubble because conditions are not the same. Your regular season doesnt even matter because you have no home-court advantage, no fans, some of the players didnt wanted to show up, some didnt wanted to try or where affected by conditions etc. Its not the same as other seasons. LeBron had an easier time, had 4 months to relax, then be all fit and healthy and watch AD(real MVP btw) carrying him there. And then talk how he won it in most difficult way even though he had most easiest time. I mean, as an avid fan of football(European, not American handegg) you can say that for CL who was played on neutral court after 1/8 Finals. Instead of 2 games(one at home and one away), they had 1 game at neutral court in Portugal. But nobody dismisses Bayern Munich because they stomped their 1/8 Finals opponents, in 1/4 they dismantled one of the best teams in Europe with Messi there 8-2(for football that is an insane score) and Finals in CL was always played 1 game at neutral court. So, nobody can doubt who was the best team out there that year. For Lakers you can doubt. Would they have won it if it was no 4 months rest? They would have home court advantage but would they have won it if they had to travel? Had fans there? Maybe. But that conditions would forever leave doubt there.

Lemme tell you something, I watched every single Lakers game the 19-20 season. Here are the facts and I dare anyone to argue them. Before the season shutdown the Lakers were on pace to win at least 55+ games. They were the #1 seed in the west and started the season off hot. Lebron was having an MVP caliber year, AD was playing his best basketball and the Lakers had a top 3-5 defense. A week before the season shutdown, the Lakers beat the Bucks and Clippers in back to back games whom were all having great seasons as well btw. The Lakers coming into the season were already the favorites to win the title. Fast forward to the bubble and you have a team that did EXACTLY what it was supposed to do against competition under the same circumstances as them. The fact of the matter is that people will clown this ring because it's Lebron. I guarantee had it been anybody else yall would've stayed quiet.
@teachmehacks
@teachmehacks 4 ай бұрын
thats the point lol, because lebron was talking the most. Anyone else wouldve been relatively quiet or relatable when speaking on the situation. Going 8 weeks not seeing your family is a instance that happens generally from time to time when youre grinding it out in gritty condition or going on a long hiatus working. If you are being paid millions then the matter of things being “hard” diminish in other peoples eyes and you ostracize yourself from reality that most endure. On top of that if you were to imagine yourself in Lebrons shoes then most would stfu and ball regardless of the toughness because there are multiple examples that would overshadow said “harsh” conditions. You can guarantee we wouldve been quiet.

I see it as: the lakers were one of the best teams before The Bubble, all the teams in the bubble played under the same conditions, (more fair than normal NBA playing conditions,) and the best team, (that most who watched that season knew all year was the best team,) won the chip. What is the surprise about that? Halfway through the season, it was somewhat obvious that the Lakers looked like the best team in the league and would beat any team that would come out of the east (barring injury.) The reason that the finals sucked is that the Heat got to the finals in unlikely, although possible, fashion and were the clear underdog vs the Lakers. So the Lakers got hate for beating an inferior team. Same deal with the Warriors and Celtics in 2022 and the Nuggets and the Heat in 2023. We all knew who would win those series.
@sskmanentsa5326
@sskmanentsa5326 10 ай бұрын
Looking at that as a real championship is joke. If Jokic and the Nuggets would have somehow won it, the narrative would have shifted. The championship was set up for the Lakers especially after Kobe's passing. They did not experience any of the playoff atmosphere that one gets. The biggest problem though is that in the subsequent seasons, the Lakers were first rounded and missed the playoffs and any and everything that happens in a normal NBA season occured. This season they beat two teams which were dysfunctional and the moment they faced a good one, they got swept. Not even a 6 game series. The story of LeBron's career, who we are supposed to believe to be the best in the world, is that when he wins, so much things must go wrong for his opponent but when he loses, it is the cleanest loss ever, no contest. Now if he had gone to the Finals in 2021 or the WCF and put on a good show, then maybe people would take it seriously.
@robertwhittaker1833
@robertwhittaker1833 9 ай бұрын
You're ignoring the fact that the Lakers had key players miss alot games with injuries .If Lebron and AD played every game and the Lakers struggled you would have a point. They did make the conference finals this year and probably would have had homecourt advantage if Lebron and AD didn't miss significant time. Lebron and AD at 100 percent can beat anyone .
@sskmanentsa5326
@sskmanentsa5326 9 ай бұрын
@@robertwhittaker1833 but here is the deal though, that is a normal NBA season were numerous factors like injuries can affect teams. Look at the 2022 Warriors, that team should have won 65+ games, but because of injuries, which is what happens when you've been competing at a high level in the NBA for 5 years plus, they only got 53. Also the Lakeshow last year had more problems than Bron and AD missing games. AD was carrying that team and LeBron was severely fatigued and had a relatively poor performance in the playoffs. You give them three months off and then start the playoffs and the Lakers are probably a championship team, which is what happened in the bubble.

100% agree regarding the organisation and logistics and management of the bubble. You voiced my words. I couldn't help thinking at the time, ooh f&CK, Adam Silver you're going to be popular, you weren't supposed to demonstrate how efficient and professional we actually can be, nobody is supposed to know that we are capable and can with drama and excuses get shit relatively easily. Jeez Adam, you really f&cked us all on that one, now people are going to expect government and civil services to operate as effectively. (Thankfully, people somehow managed to forget about that side of things or didn't notice. So it didn't catch on. - the curse of being to good - no one realised there was no drama - I guess that's what makes it forgettable), I love that the Lakers won, I love it that Dwight Howard, and JaVale McGee got their rings. The youngsters Kuzma and Schroeder, did their bit well and Im glad they won a ring. I love the fact that Gianni's younger brother Kostas was also part of this team, which means he was an NBA Champion before his brother.. But the story I love the most is the one, where a player was brought up from the G-league, came off the bench in the regular season, to be in the starting lineup in the final championship game, he is all heart, does everything asked of him, and more, especially at crucial times, He is a coach's dream player from the point of being a hard worker, eager to learn, a great team player, great attitude, delivers every time, gutsy, underrated, underestimated,, humble and loves the game. Started the season in the G-league & ended it a NBA Champion, and has a ring., just for this player alone I'm thrilled the Lakers won, (the rest are the cherries on top). And let us not forget Luca, it may only have been 7 games, but goddamn he made them exciting and great basketball to watch.
