He entered the league with a very unique skill for scoring. He got to sit behind and learn from 3 all time greats on offense in KD/Kyrie/Harden. Now he has the keys to the car finally. Once Nic Claxton gets backs healthy to solidify the defense, it’s going to be a very interesting season.

Along with being 3-4, atleast we know that this team is capable of winning those close crunch time games where the game can be decided by one possession. This would be very different if we were 1-6 or 2-5. I’m not worried at all yet given with what we got

I would run the offense through Cam. It will develop his game more and build an identity with the Nets team. Mikal will be the 2nd scoring option but he’s such a good team player he’ll do everything else as well
@rolotomassi9586
@rolotomassi9586 8 ай бұрын
Eventually Mikal will become the third scoring option. The Nets have a promising rookie Dariq Whitehead, a top talent who has suffered injuries. This won't happen this season but over medium and long term Mikal will be able to focus on his defensive responsibilities while still being a vital scorer just not having to carry the team.
@indamaking
@indamaking 8 ай бұрын
@@rolotomassi9586 I disagree, Mikal is a really efficient and smart scorer, still learning how to be “the guy”. He has potential to average 25ppg maybe even more.
@rolotomassi9586
@rolotomassi9586 8 ай бұрын
@@indamaking Mikal can score 25ppg but my point is that last season after he became the main option he was not nearly as effective on defence. And as he was a DPOY runner-up we know he can be a premier two-way player. I'd rather have Mikal score a few less buckets per game if it meant he was focused on keeping opposition stars in check on D. Watching Mikal it is easy to see he has patience and smarts, he can score efficiently and he is going to be the leader of the Nets for the next five years at least.

I’m a lsu fan so I follow the situation a bit more closely. Apparently he’s looked at as a valuable piece for the future and potential staring guard along with bridges, but they want him to work on his passing and defense. So benching him last year was telling him he needs to improve in those areas. According to lsu media, they want him to develop into a Kobe or kyrie. Basically cam has the scoring. Develop one of passing or defense.

The problem with Thomas is that he has tunnel vision and his defense was really poor. Doesn't matter you're a great scorer if you have those huge problems. This year the story has been different. He still has big tunnel vision, but he's starting to take better decisions and he's making an effort on defense. Also, this year the Nets had a good defensive environment around Thomas, so he can take his time maturing as a player. I think he can be a great player (I also thought about Devin Booker) and he is already, but he needs to take some leaps in his not-so-good areas. If he does, he's a bonafide All-Star.

Mikal was groomed to be a role player. Its hard to see him as the 1 option. Cam on on the other hand has 1st option DNA. Mentored by KD & Kyrie, proven winners 3 chips among them. I bet he learned a thing or 2. I use to hate Jack Vaughn "only for basketball reasons" but i have a feeling management was holding C.Thamas back; cause they wanted to lower his value so they don't have to pay him and be over the cap. If Steph Curry was never injured in the beginning of his career, he would have gotten the max...

Cam Thomas thrives when given the opportunity. Unfortunately, he came in when KD, Kyrie, and even Harden were on the team. When there’s an opportunity, like when there’s injuries on the starters, the coach/es unleashed him and let him do his thing. With injuries in the team early this season, he’s taking advantage of it and leads the team in scoring, taking the burden away from Mikal Bridges. Forget the win-loss record, major players were taking turns getting injured. When Cam injured by the dirty PJ Tucker, Clax and Cam Johnson came back. The Nets style of game changed too when Ben Simmons was out (still is at this moment).

The answer to Cam’s minutes going down was simply that the Nets had to manage egos after the trade. You had Dinwiddie, Mills, Joe Harris, and Seth Curry still getting minutes and they probably didn’t want to bruise their egos. With 3 of those 4 guys gone, there’s more minutes for Cam and hopefully he continues to start even after Cam Johnson comes back.

You know what the front office doing. They know he’s like that but they don’t want to have to pay if has the numbers. Same thing Gilbert Arena was saying what they do. They are going to pay Michal and limit Cam especially with the new CBA. Unless they trade Ben.

Can Thomas once said that he is a Kobe guy. And he wears #24. So I’m not surprised he is a scoring machine. As for his defence, well I guess nobody is perfect

Cam Thomas is a better version of Jordan Poole, cause at least he hits the shots he takes.

My most recent take was that Jacque Vaughn was asked to tank last year after the trades but don’t make it obvious. At the time, after the trades I thought they were still punishing him for his controversial offensive hateful comment.

He said 'no homo' on a postgame interview, think it was the 3rd game in that february streak. He got punished, quietly, but he got benched as a punishment for that off colour comment.

Member ppl was really disliking this young man for being able to just put the ball in the bucket. Then it was he can’t do it over a course of time Seems putting the ball in the hoop is effortless for the fella. Long career ahead of em cause the name of the game still and will always be U take the orange ball and put it threw that there hoop

There is no reason why Dinwiddie can't be moved to the bench. Start Simmons, Thomas, Bridges, Cam Johnson, and Clax. You can afford to have one medicore defender on a lineup.

Or cam Thomas has a consistency/defence problem. Love when guys try to give certain guys love. They almost cover half and shove the rest of it under the rug so you can’t dispute it.

Nets are a team full of the best role-player, sort of like the Clippers before the Kawhi era. They're going to be above .500 but probably not getting past the 1st or 2nd round.
